They are both a scam and legit. They will provide you the service at a higher price than what you expect. For instance you see one price on their website. After you put all your information in including your credit card information. They hold onto that and then send you an email wanting you to call them, after you call them they tell you that the price has changed and you either agree to the price change or not. In my case I did not agree and wanted them to cancel my reservation, after arguing with them for 5 minutes they finally told me they canceled my reservation.
The next day my credit card was charged for their fee of $50 and the rental company $400
I did get the rental company to refund my $400 but still working on the $50 from travelopick.
Disputes were filed through my credit card company but they still want you to try and resolve the issue with the company before they step in. So it is still a hassle to deal with the situation.
