My poor review of Nov. 21,2020 about my watch Repair #*******, -received a response from Tom O., at Watch Repair USA. They sent me a postage paid label for my watch to be returned under their warranty repair order #*******. They also assured me, that it wouldn't cost me anything to get my watch back. That seemed to good to be true. Should I, or should I not, was the big question. It appeared I had nothing to lose, so I sent it back. Frankly, I was so disgusted with the whole matter, that I didn't give a crap if I ever saw that watch again! I then received an email that it was received on Dec. 2nd., and that it would be repaired in a timely manner. What's this? Communication? Seemed like I was dealing with a whole new company.
OK. Today after a few weeks, I received the watch back via UPS. While opening the package, I wondered if they had set the correct time and if the watch was actually keeping it. Much to my surprise, the time was not only right, but the watch as a whole sparkled like new. I must say, I was quite impressed. OK. So maybe I'll have to eat some crow for my original lousy review. We'll see?
But I'd like to add, that during the time they had my watch, I started doing some research on what it takes these days to repair a watch. Most modern watches today are those called quartz. Not as big a deal as the old mechanical one's with a mired of moving parts. So why should it cost over a hundred dollars or more to repair a quartz with few moving parts. Take today's modern TV sets. If you take it in for repair, they no longer bench solder like days of old. Rather, they immediately know what circuit board is the problem, order a new one and plug it it. Bingo! Fifty or more bucks just to bring the set in and an extra hundred plus to get it back. Time spent, is mostly waiting for the part. Worse, is when they find the part is no longer available to fix the set. You get it back broken, less the cost of bringing it in. Welcome to today's world! So what's the answer? Go to your local jeweler, ask if they have any broken ROLEX watches to be thrown away. Give them ten bucks for it and then wear it with your best suit and you'll look and feel like a billionaire. As for telling time, forget it, it's payback!
Hmmm… Now, do you think my watch will be given another years warranty?
