  • Apple

I bought my iPhone X from Telstra, rather than Apple so I could pay for it over 24 months. Very impressed with the face recognition - even with my safety glasses on it knows who I am. I have been an Apple fanboy since 1989, but decided mistakenly to swap to a Samsung Galaxy Note 5 after the iPhone 4. Waddamistakatomaka! F*cking Android - irrelevant advertisement after advertisement popping up EVERY TIME I turned the Samsung phone on. Fingerprint sensor did not work with dirty or wet hands. Complete WOFTAM - last time I buy a Samsung product!

MobileZap seems to be one of the few Australian businesses that imports the Sugru range of 2-part mixable polymers that set to silicone rubber in a range of colours. This is a very useful product for modelling kids toys, flexible gaskets, or even for making small orthopaedic cushions for people with bunions. My order was dispatched quickly and correctly with a minimum of fuss. I hope this small business gets the success it deserves.

It started with the Samsung refrigerator we purchased. After 13 months (1 month outside the warranty period) the interior light failed - not just the globe - the power to the globe. Gave up and installed two $15 movement activated battery lights from Bunnings. Then there was the LCD TV. Looked great in Harvey Normal's store, but DEAD ON ARRIVAL at our home. Fortunately Harvey allowed us to change it for a Sony LCD - beautiful picture and zero problems with Sony. Then the biggest purchasing error of my life. A Samsung Galaxy Note 5 on contract after 5 iPhones. Just because you could write on the screen with a special mini pen. Whaddamistakatomaika! Fingerprint recognition worked intermittently at best. Would not work with slightest piece of grime on finger. Screen needed 3 pokes to respond, and half a stroke to go some place you didn't need. And as for Android - no wonder Google is the one of the richest companies in the world. Forced to read/dismiss 3 advertisements for stuff I had no interest in every time I turned the bastard on. What a wretched OS. Never gain. Stay well away from Samsung and Android if you want my advice.

I took advantage of the 3 months free offer. I did not see a single program that was of interest. Complete WOFTAM as far as I am concerned. Great for invalids, the brain dead and those without lives of their own to lead I guess. Freeview for this little black duck.

  • Amazon

I mainly purchase books from Amazon: US, UK, France and Germany - the range is magnificent for a specialist like me who likes books on watercolour and archaeology. Prices are often discounted and generally lower than most chain retailers in Australia with their HUGE mark-ups. Very easy to search for books by subject, including new releases up to 24 months prior to publication. Postage to Australia is very fast and low cost - well done Mr Bezos
