Mormons own this site and because of their religious beliefs (and completely ignorant to yours) they proxy baptize the dead (e.g. Your relatives). My parents know people who get paid to act as stand ins to be baptized. Hope you like your Protestant aunt or Jewish uncle having Mormon rites metaphorically performed on them.
I hate when the religious take over sites/businesses and make it all about what THEY do. Seriously, I'm an atheist and don't want any of their mumbo jumbo around my relatives.

I bought some yoga pants online. They were already on sale, and with a coupon I had the total price went from around $20 to $8. Quality was good and the pants were true to size. Shipping took a teeny bit longer than I'd expect but I'm very satisfied overall.
Great place if you need a new shirt or pants and aren't picky.
But the BEST thing is that you can return items bought online to a physical store for your refund/credit/exchange.

More often than not, a lot of the "hard" and "impossible" professors actually just had standards. You shouldn't be looking for just easy A's in college (or at least for major courses). I've found some comments true, but it's mostly either glowing praise or complete whining. Might be worth a glance, but if you get a professor with a 2.0 rating, they may not be as terrible as described.

I'm learning Norwegian.
The site is interesting, and the points and daily counter does add a game-like feel and makes you want to return.
I like that there's various types of practices and it's not just matching pictures with words. The little info portions of each lesson are good.

My only complain is that they ran some things too deeply into the ground.

I had an account around 6 years ago and was learning Norwegian. I left the site alone for a while and lo and behold, after this update Norwegian is no longer an option and my account is apparently gone.
Norwegian is under 'coming soon' but I don't believe that. Norwegian isn't an uber popular language so I highly doubt it's on their radar.

Technically, I left the site in the first place because I wasn't really thrilled with how it was done. It was okay, but I've been on better.

I made all my Christmas gifts, all the materials coming from here. The quality is okay, sometimes tipping toward cheap. The prices are just okay. If you are serious about crafting, you need to buy in bulk or really shop around.

Their political stances are also terrible. I honestly feel guilty about even perusing the online catalog. If there was another craft store by me I'd go there instead.

The razors and handles are cheap, they arrive pretty quick and the quality is good. Each blade lasts much longer than your typical store-bought blade (and no gimmicky stuff).
This is also where Dollar Shave Club get their razors from, so why not just cut out the middle man?

A while back I ordered two shirts.
The sizes are wonky. I got a small and it was a bit too short- I could wear it, but it would ride up and didn't always cover the bottom of my back. The shirt was also tight in weird places and I knew if I ordered a size larger the shirt would just be too big period.
I didn't really wear the shirt much so I can't speak to the printing, but it did feel a bit cheap.
It's a shame I can't wear the shirts. I'm donating them instead.

This site is meant for background info or a quick fact check. It's not meant to replace a real GP.
I don't suggest looking too far into articles and other 'pop medicine/ psychology'.

If you're looking up UTI symptoms- yes, use it. If you're self-diagnosing autism- no, do not use it.

Like it or not, it's one of those things you should have if you want to enter a professional career (research, business, academia, ect). It's just for your education and accomplishments and where employers can gloss you over.
Fill out your profile, add what you've done and skills, add people you know and have them vouch for you.

It's not supposed to be fun. It's a resume supplement.

Tip for consumers:
Don't link with people you don't know. This isn't Facebook. Also take advantage of their tips to maxing out your profile.

Just find a real humor site.

  • DeviantArt

I've been on and browsing dA since around 2006. It's not the same site.
Unless you do fanart or fetish art you'll get buried. There's not quality control, so you can open MS Paint, draw a smiley and potentially get more exposure than someone who actually worked on their art.
There's still some great artists, but it's too easy to get lost in utter $#*!e.

Suffers from a lot immature drama, people who don't want any artistic critism, and tons of lolcows and white knighting.

Tip for consumers:
Find a better site.

  • Etsy

I've bought 2 things off etsy and each time had fast, courteous service and got exactly what I paid for. As a consumer you have to look at the SELLER. Whenever you buy online it's a bit of a risk, especially person-to-person and not from an established company, but if you take some care you should be ok.
Think of it like this- are you looking for something almost completely unique or something you can't/ haven't found elsewhere? If yes, give etsy a shot.

Tip for consumers:
Do your research. Only buy from sellers with well written (i.e proper English) reviews. Make sure they have real, multiple photos of the product. If they have only have one or two items, consider buying from someone more established.

  • Expedia

When I studied abroad I used this site to book a few flight/hotel combos. Everything went off perfect.
Expedia works well and is pretty legit, but if you look around and are flexible, you can probably find better rates.

I ordered some candle making supplies from them and was very impressed. The scents smelled great, the glasses were high quality and the wax was perfect.
It can be pricey, especially if you're starting out and need all your materials but that's the nature of bulk crafting supplies.
It's not about the products but on my order slip someone wrote 'thank you' and added a smiley face which was a very nice touch.
Would definitely buy from them again.

Yes, you get SAMPLES, but the samples you get are minis of full sizes you'd otherwise have to buy. I've added some fantastic products to my routine thanks to BB, however they do have a tendency to include flat out junk (i. E. ugly hairbands) and re-sending things. If you're upset about the sizes, well what did you expect for $10 a month?
My issue is with the beauty profile. It's not as detailed or deep as some other sites and more than once I've gotten stuff that just doesn't work (i. E. hair product for curls when my hair is straight. And yes, you do answer what type of hair you have).
This is good for noobs who don't know where to start for make-up and other similar products. It's really not as bad as some people complain about, but I don't know if I'll continue my subscription once it ends (gonna try some other similar services).
There points system works pretty well. After reviewing 2 boxes you have about $10 to spend in the shop. However, some products are more expensive on BB than on Amazon, but then again some are cheaper. Do your research.
The website looks good and functions well and is easy to navigate.

Had to use their customer service once and they were very courteous and thorough.

Tip for consumers:
This is best if you have no idea where to start looking for beauty and care products.

  • Spencer's

I ordered something online that wasn't physically in the store by me. It took a while to get to me and was a bit pricey thanks to shipping, but I didn't have any problems.
Try and do your shopping in store instead of online. They do have some nifty stuff, my favorite incense burner came from Spencer's.
Consider this place Hot Topic, once Hot Topic graduated high school and went to college because it had no other prospects.

The clothes don't fit right. I usually wear a small size shirt but some reason, the shirts here are somehow loose in the chest and tight in the shoulders/top of sleeve and a larger size is just too big. The make-up and body products are the lowest quality and unusable. There are almost no original designs or products- just walls of Disney Princess, Dr. Who, My Little Pony and Nightmare Before Christmas merch with some Star Wars and Youtube flashes in the pan. Did I mention this is all insanely expensive?

  • LivingSocial

12/29/15

My biggest issue is with the location parameters. In my area (which is by no means rural), I can only choose from maybe 3 or 4 general locations (one being a city about 30 minutes away that I don't want to look in).
Second, a lot of the activities are more of the same and nothing really jumps at me. I don't really care about restaurant discounts nor painting classes. However, there is some good stuff like things for kids and services that could come in handy so it's not totally useless. My boyfriend and I have a coupon for $25 off and we may never use it. The one thing that looked interesting we didn't do because the actual online reviews for the event were total crap (and mentioned LivingSocial by name).

  • Kickstarter

12/29/15

I've backed 2 projects: one went off without a hitch, came on time and everything worked out spectacularly. The other was delayed about a year, had no communication (aside from telling us about more delays and product issues) and pretty much killed the brand.
That being said, that's all the start ups and not Kickstarter itself. I can't speak for the site, but as a consumer just know what you're backing and understand that there is some risk involved. But yea, most of the stuff is either insanely expensive, very niche or crap. Also way too many people trying to fund little homemade candle operations.

Tip for consumers:
Don't back anything insanely pricey. Yes, you want a product and not just a thank you card, but don't invest more than you're willing to lose.
