As an individual navigating the tumultuous world of e-commerce, I recently found myself in an unenviable predicament that carries with it an urgent tale of caution for every consumer. The stage? A $539 charge from Lowe's, emblematic of a dishwasher - a modern-day household marvel that, alas, was never delivered nor ushered into the heart of my home.

This should be a simple tale of corporate trust, of understanding and swift resolution; it instead transformed into a Kafkaesque labyrinth of frustration. As the plot twisted, the responsibility of proof had been abruptly and unfairly thrust upon me, the weary consumer. Instead of Lowe's being asked to substantiate the alleged delivery and installation of the dishwasher, Capital One's disputes team demanded I furnish evidence of my order cancellation.

My heart sank. In our era of digital proofs and e-receipts, I was caught in the age-old whirlpool of telecommunication, my cancellation conducted over a phone call, ephemeral, untraceable.

The monolithic institutions I had trusted to protect and serve me, whom I have infused with my hard-earned capital (pun intended), now stood as inaccessible fortresses, their drawbridges raised against me.

Capital One left me in the cold, betrayed by the very system that should be a beacon of integrity and reliability. I speak not merely of my personal lament but for every customer who has ever been abandoned by the institutions they placed their trust in.

Now, you might wonder: Why didn't I reach out to Lowes instead? Great question. I did. Five times during the past month and a half. Every time, after 30 to 60 minutes of waiting for a human to take my call, they assured me my cancellation and refund will happen within a matter of days (apparently because their computer system wasn't allowing them to handle the cancellation immediately. It sounds like AI has taken over Lowe's, doesn't it?)

This, dear reader, is a cautionary tale about Capital One. A solemn reminder to tread lightly and carry a sturdy shield of vigilance in the ever-evolving battlefield of consumer rights. Buyer, beware indeed.

If you're ok with a smaller range of products but prefer high quality and rock bottom prices over outrageous grocery bills, then Aldi is the place for you.

They sent me the wrong lens. I returned the glasses in early May. They received them on May 10, per USPS. Today is May 28, and although I reached out to them multiple times, they keep telling me they will be inspecting the lens "later" and let me know what's wrong. Totally unacceptable.

Matthew S. – Zenni Optical Rep

Thank you for posting your Zenni review of the standard progressive eyeglasses with our Blokz® blue-light-blocking feature you ordered on April 16,2022, in order number o4491708107, with which we were sorry to learn you could not see well. Consequently, we apologize for any dissatisfaction you experienced as a result. We have received the returned eyeglasses for an inspection, and we will inspect them soon. Once we have completed the inspection, we will email you the inspection results. If our inspection finds any manufacturing errors on the glasses, we can offer to remake them for you for free. If we find no manufacturing errors on the glasses, we can return the glasses to you or issue one of our two refund options – either a 100 percent refund of the price of the glasses in the form of store credit to your Zenni account or a 50 percent refund to the credit card you used to pay for the order. We look forward to inspecting the eyeglasses and emailing you the inspection results, which we hope will lead to a successful resolution of the issues with these eyeglasses.

You can't call them. You can email them, but they won't answer. This is the absolute worst customer service I have ever encountered. Buyer Beware.
