There can be a lot to say about a Bit Torrent Web site, but I'd just like to confine my review to the basics.
Demonoid.me has a very nice mechanism for searching torrents indexed there. It's easy to use and the categories are well thought out. You can find music, movies, anime, applications and many other things (legal and otherwise).
Demonoid.me policy does not allow for the following: Pornographic torrents - Malicious/infected/trojan torrents and the like. You can receive a ban if you do upload those types of torrents (only a member can upload a torrent there).
Why did I give Demonoid.me just 4 stars (cool) instead of 5? Because the administrator(s) of Demonoid.me don't follow their own rules when it comes to malicious adware and trojan drive-by installs. If you use Firefox, use the noscript plug-in before visiting Demonoid.me. If you use Internet Explorer, disable scripting before visiting the site. Malicious fake virus apps and malicious fake disk management apps will sneak onto your computer without some sort of protection (a good anti-malware, virus app) if you choose to use Demonoid.me.
I've been a member of Demonoid for several years and this is an ongoing problem which the Demonoid administrator seems to tolerate. Torrent sites need to make revenue in order to exist (just like any other site on the Web) but allowing visitors to be infected with Malware is just plain wrong! For that alone, Demonoid.me should be ashamed of themselves.
How can I approve of Demonoid.me after saying the above? Because anyone going to ANY torrent site should be aware of the problems that often accompany the use of torrent sites (any app you download via torrenting has the potential for infection) regardless of what the site's policy states.
As stated in other reviews here on SiteJabber, to become a member of Demonoid.me requires that that you visit the site on whatever random day of the month they have so-called "open registration" -- failing that, you could try asking someone you know is a member for an invite to be sent to you via email. Don't ask me for one -- I don't know you.:)
So -- my review of Demonoid.me is of a split-personality nature. Good: The site's user interface and function is clean and simple. Bad: The very act of visiting the site to use the good part of it can infect you with malware if you're not well-protected in advance. Ridding your computer of some of the latest malware types mentioned earlier can be a long and painful chore for a novice to undertake.
