I am finding my tickets through skyscanner regularly. Usually, everything go well.
I also have an experience of being redirected to 3rd party website, which tried to rip me off big time. In that case, skyscanner helped me get my money back.

More details on it:
I was redirected to a website alrehlat.com. My flight was cancelled, thus I needed a refund. However, website alrehlat.com started acting like a scam. They were acting against their terms and conditions, denying information from their call center, refusing to clarify refund process, doing miscalculated refund offers, not replying to my mails.
At that point, I didn't expect to get any money back. I reported this to skyscanner. To my surprise, skyscanner pressured alrehlat to respond to my mails and eventually they secured me the full refund.

I booked return ticket through the website, but one of the flight was cancelled. I called the company, they promised me full refund. However, after I received the refund offer, they tried charge me extra 25% of the return ticket.
While I was communicating with them through emails - most of my mails were simply ignored. If I received response, it never contained answers for questions that I asked (it seems almost like automatic response).
Explanation behind 25% extra charge was that they booked it on airline was ridiculous: 1. Some extra charges were "miscalculation" (without apology) and 2. That they booked it on airline as separate tickets, thus they need to charge me penalty for not canceled ticket. However, I am absolutely sure they didn't inform me about this before booking. Moreover, they didn't inform me about the prices of these 2 ticket, so I have no clue how they want to separate the price now. It's just ridiculous.

Tip for consumers:
it's not a serious company - avoid if possible
