I wrote one of the most cutting reviews of freeshipping.com on this website, but promised to come back and correct it if I received a check and my credit card was not charged. I cancelled 5 days after joining, and my Discover card was NOT charged! (I checked.) But the great thing is, today in my mailbox was a check from freeshipping.com for $30.00 - the original $20.00 to sign up (for buying a $17 hair dryer at Walmart) and a $10.00 shipping rebate from Amazon.com. (Now I wish I'd submitted the eBay shipping, too!:-))

I have to say, THEY ARE HONEST. My explanation of how they *could* scam us (because of the delay between canceling the membership and getting a check) was not the way they actually *do* it. My rebates were obviously processed and checks mailed after I had cancelled the membership and they had not charged me anything.

For anyone who averages more than $12.95 on online shipping normally (when you do not belong to a free-shipping club), this is a good deal and you will save. For anyone at all, you can get a trial membership, really get the $20 for signing up, and get your shipping back for a week - eventually You just have to remember to cancel your membership before the week is over to avoid being charged. You will not get your checks quickly, but you will get them.

I don't know how they manage to do it, but the fact is that they do. I have a $30 check in my purse to prove it.

Blessings!

Shirley

Tip for consumers:
If you take a 7-day trial membership and don't want to pay, do not forget to cancel before the week is over! Keep the membership more than a week only if you already average more than $12.95 a month on online shipping. Be patient for your checks to arrive.

My experience with this website has been good, except that I received an offer, by email, of $5 off my next order for writing a review. When I tried to write a review after clicking that link, I was asked to sign in over and over and over, and the "submit review" link still did not work. I was only able to write the review by going directly to it from my account. Surprise? - the reward was now 10 percent, not $5, and I don't order $50 bumper stickers. UPDATE ONE: I called Zazzle support, and they sent me the $5 off code by email, so I have changed the rating from 2 to 3 stars (more would have meant it hadn't happened at all) and edited this review. UPDATE TWO: The link they sent was better than the original one - $5 off *any* order, not $5 off a *$25* order. They wound up giving me more than promised, and I've upgraded them from 3 stars to 4. (5 stars would mean I'd never had a problem at all.) My advice to anyone using Zazzle: If you have a problem. Call them! The number is 1 *******953.

This is the second time I've changed a negative review to a positive one because the website later came through. When the check actually arrives, I will change the number of stars to five. I have changed it from one to three because the rebate for my second purchase showed up in my account as "pending" - possibly because I called Walmart support and asked them to report my purchase to shopsmarter.com, but show up it did, in less than a week.

They still say a purchase can take ten days to show up - and if it does, you won't get a rebate for it during a 7-day trial membership. That hasn't changed: you should make a second purchase only on the assumption that you might or might not get a rebate for it without paying $12.95 - that's ten percent of $129.50 in purchases per month just to break even! But they don't always take ten days; mine didn't, and I hope to receive a rebate around July 15 and come back to tell you so.

ShopSmarter R. – ShopSmarter Rep

Hi Shirley,

Thank you for providing your feedback. Normally, it can take up to 7 days for your cash back to appear in your Savings Center, depending on how long it takes for the retailer to report the purchase back to us. However, we can promise you'll receive the cash back you earned on purchases made through ShopSmarter as long as you abide by our terms of use and double check the cash back restrictions implemented per retailer. If after seven days you do not see your cash back appear in your savings center please email customerservice@shopsmarter.com for assistance. Once they can confirm the purchase qualified for cash back, they can add it in for you manually!

If you have any other questions or concerns about how our service works, please feel free to email help@shopsmarter.com for more details. Thank you!

Sincerely,
The ShopSmarter Team

  • Bank of America

11/15/18

I've been waiting nearly an hour to talk to a Bank of America rep, and am writing a review with my other hand to help pass the time. This wait time is usual - they make you wait longer than the IRS. I ignore the recordings until the voice says "We know your time is valuable." At that point I yell "Shut up!"

Ah, I finally got a rep, and for once I got a good one. B of A just went from one star to two. Found out what I needed to know: whether or not my card was still on Autopay - and he also let me know that my newer Bank of America card is on Autopay as well. I hadn't heard back since I sent the needed forms, voided checks, etc. by postal mail (that's right) to set up Autopay for that card two months ago.

It's nearly impossible to set up Autopay or talk to a representative, and this was the first time I've ever reached a good rep at the end of the wait. So why do I put up with it? Two reasons. One: 3 percent cashback on gas, all the time. It is my default gas card. Two: they give a small percentage of their fees to causes I support. I'm sure the shares are small, but repeated over years, they add up to a donation.

The service provider is standing by, waiting for a call from AAA. Two hours after my initial call, AAA still has not called them. I must have called AAA and navigated their frustrating recorded maze at least a dozen times. Still no call. The service provider is great, but AAA is terrible.

  • Verizon

5/7/22

I've had Verizon Jetpack since 2015 and was happy with it, but big problems began when I got a Verizon Home Phone through the local dealer. The smallest problem is that half the time the phone doesn't work. It won't dial 800 numbers, particularly numbers such as 877 or 866 – I have never succeeded in reaching one of these numbers with it. What I get instead is "Welcome to Verizon Wireless." It also does not transmit any numbers I key in using the keypad. If I have to key in an account number or enter a number to make a choice, I am out of luck.

Worse, though, is that someone – apparently at Verizon itself – tried to add a second home phone to my account although I had only one, and lied to me and to the Better Business Bureau to cover it up. I bought my home phone and had it set up just before Christmas 2021, and the charges appeared on my January bill and I paid them. So far, so good. But then ANOTHER home phone appeared as pending on my February bill, also at full price. I contacted Verizon Live Chat several times and they said they had removed the pending line, which was not mine and which I had never ordered, but it always came back on my bill.

Before the bill was due I contacted the Better Business Bureau, and only then did Verizon correct my bill – but they refused t investigate what was obviously attempted fraud (to add someone else's phone to my account) and lied blatantly to cover it up. They said the pending line, 762-0081, had been the temporary number they gave me before they switched to my original phone number. This was an obvious lie for two reasons. One: my temporary number was a different one, 762-0206. Two: The temp number appeared on my January bill at no charge, but the second line was on the February bill at full price. Someone had tried to steal from my account, and Verizon deliberately covered it up.

I didn't get back to the BBB soon enough about this, and it was recorded as only "customer was not satisfied." In fact, a crime was committed, and it should have been investigated and the person who tried to put their phone on my account should have been prosecuted. If I'd had autopay, which they are always pushing on people, I might have paid for the scammer's line for months before I'd noticed it.

Verizon isn't only incompetent (the home phone doesn't work properly) but crooked. Avoid it if you possibly can.

Tip for consumers:
Do not use Verizon if another provider is available.

Verified purchase

I've used Tracfone since 2011 and always loved it. Very easy to refill my service plans online; never took more than ten minutes to buy and add a plan. Now Verizon has acquired it, and like everything else Verizon, it's a mess.

Tonight I tried to refill my Tracfone with only a minute of airtime left, and have to hope I won't have car trouble tomorrow, because it was simply impossible. I spent several hours, including the time wasted trying to talk to US Bank on my Verizon Home Phone, which didn't convey the account numbers I keyed in, trying to make this simple renewal. Finally decided to add another credit card, and this was impossible too. It looked as if I had added it, but it didn't save, when I tried to confirm my order I got an error message, "Sorry, we cannot process your order at this time." Tried to login over and over, eventually had to complete Captchas (did this several times, correctly), and then it didn't accept the user name it had accepted before, and "Continue" was greyed out.

Hope I can upload this review, because my Verizon internet keeps going offline too.

Nothing Verizon ever seems to work properly, and now they have acquired Tracfone - something that DID work - and spoiled that too. Thanks a lot, Verizon.

Update, 5/8/22: I tried again to refill, and there is no reason on earth why it should not have worked. I got the same message again: "We cannot process your transaction at this time." The credit card is 100% correct, and so is everything else I've done to get this refilled. It gets up to the confirmation point, then gives the error message. That is pure Verizon. Tracfone was excellent before.

May 9: I've tried several times since writing the review, but am unable to even login. Today I tried the customer service number and was told the wait was more than 40 minutes. Decided to stick it out, but after about 10 minutes my Verizon Home Phone began to beep regularly. Hanging up and trying again does not help. All it does when I lift the receiver is beep.

May 9,5 PM: After spending 3 1/2 hours on the phone with Tracfone support, I GOT MY MINUTES! (I got the Home Phone working again by removing and replacing the battery.) The first representative was unable to get any of three credit cards to work. (Or so she said - Verizon is very crooked; see my other review.) The second representative needed only to use one credit card, put the airtime into my account, and eventually - this was not a quick process either - I got a text message that the airtime and service days had been added! And indeed they are on my phone. I told her she was a genius.

No idea why I had to try the website for five days and speak to reps from 1:30 to 5 PM to add airtime to a Tracfone. This was previously a very easy process. Maybe Verizon bought Tracfone to kill the competition. But I can tell you that, if you are very patient and persistent, and willing to talk to reps on the phone until you are almost too hoarse to speak, it can still be done.

Tip for consumers:
If you are very, very, very patient and persevering, you can still get airtime added to a Tracfone.

  • Wish

5/9/20

I have ordered 4 items on WISH and never received one - these were regular priced items that were supposed to arrive, not "limited supply." The first was a tablet, which they said was out of stock from the store but they were looking for it from another store. It was ordered on April 11 and supposed to arrive April 25. They are supposedly still looking for it. The second was another, higher priced tablet, which they claim was sent to the wrong address and refunded, but I have doubts that what arrived in Hershey, PA instead of Valley City, ND was really a tablet; it could have been an empty box sent to get a tracking number from USPS. They refunded it without asking if I would accept a refund (I would have chosen another tablet), and they still have this item for sale at higher prices than I paid. I also ordered My COVID face mask and a string of solar lights, but would be very surprised indeed if I ever receive either one.

Tip for consumers:
Do not order anything you from this site if you really need it - you will not receive your order.

Nothing I ordered every arrived, so I used none.

Or in Dante's immortal words, "Abandon hope, all ye who enter here.":-)

If you enter online, you will receive an INFINITE number of emails, each of which requires you to scroll to the bottom of an INFINITE number of pages, each containing an INFINITE number of ads. Better buy a lottery ticket; you will only be wasting some money, not your life.

I don't think they could be targeting the poor and elderly, though. Victims can only jump through their hoops with the fastest connection and the very latest browser. They are targeting people who can afford those, who might make better customers for the junk they offer. However, this is something to avoid utterly; once you have invested a few hours you will invest a few hundred more hours to avoid losing your time investment, and so on ad infinitum.

Tip for consumers:
AVOID!

My computer and connection aren't perfect, but will open any site on the web - almost. I can find and contact a lawyer, read the news, get the weather forecast, use eBay and Amazon to buy and sell, and do all my emailng through Gmail webmail. The exception is that no matter how long I wait, it cannot, it WILL not, open My Coke Rewards.

This website is strictly for fun, and tailored mostly to the under-12 crowd. Who else would take the time to enter an almost unreadable 14-digit code to get points worth a couple of cents? But it is NOT fun when the website will not open except to the very newest, latest, best and fastest technology - and how many kids have that? How many children are being frustrated because they no longer can use something they enjoyed, and how many parents are being inundated with demands for the latest, newest, fastest technology so their kids can enter a code worth a couple of cents? And how many of those parents are responding by saying "We drink NO more Coke in this household!"? (Just the sensible ones, I'd say.)

My Coke Rewards used to have a user-friendly website. It opened a little slowly but OK, and even had a link to click if a kid had any trouble entering his codes. That link went to a page that opened and worked with lighting speed. Now the entire site can be used only by people with the fastest 5% of connections on the planet. It's a shame. Used to be fun - sort of.

Tip for consumers:
Don't bother unless you have the latest, newest, fastest technology *and* are willing to enter a long, almost unreadable code to get points worth a couple of cents. This is just for kids.
