Magnetic collars for dogs - I received a private email from David Easton who saw my post in a dog health msg board about my older dog's arthritis problems. He promised he had something he makes himself by putting copper wires in a dog collar that would be GUARANTEED to help my dog. I told him thank you, but no. He referred me to the website which also lists a 100% guarantee PLUS shipping for the return. He persisted with emails about vets promoting the collar, his supposed MIT education and that he is of a rocket scientist mentality, newspaper articles about it, and how he invented it to help his own dogs. I told him, again, thank you for caring so much, but for now I wanted to work with some supplements I had ordered, so no. Then he said he would just send me one for free. I told him if he must, I guessed I would pay him and at least try it.
He sent it, I paid him, and several days after putting the collar on the dog, he got much worse (and I told him it may have had nothing to do with the collar, the point was it didn't make the dog better). Our dog has arthritis and an inner ear balance vestibular disease. The vet suggested we remove the collar because the magnetics actually "could" have something to do with making his balance worse in this case. I emailed David Easton in Waterford, Michigan, and asked if I could return it and get my $50 back. His email didn't answer that question, put down my vet as "not knowing what he was talking about," and told me that the warranty on the website CLEARLY STATES that it is a 90-day warranty, so contact him AFTER that period is up before I could receive a refund. Since that doesn't make sense, I sent the collar back with a signed, returned receipt proving that they did receive it and on what date and time (his wife signed for it) way before 90 days were over. I have emailed him about my refund, and now he is just ignoring my emails and not answering any of them. I told him that I would have to report him to the BBB (which I have now done several days ago), and still no response. It appears he is NOT going to live up to his "warranty." He claims that he has sold over 900 of these collars and not one has been returned, and yet in an email to me he stated that he used to make each collar exactly to size for the dog, but he had so many returned that he then couldn't use for another dog, that he has switched to purchasing regular buckled already-made dog collars and sewing the copper wires on the inside of them. This way, he could re-sell collars that had been returned as they would fit other dogs, too. Also, on his website, it says these were designed by a vet--and yet in his emails, he has an MIT education he says and takes his dogs to a vet of his choice. Hmmm. Hate having to do this, but he obviously is ripping off more people than me.
