11/1/18

Writing this review from the perspective of a content orderer. I've tested over 5 content writing services and The Content Authority is by far the worst. It was also the cheapest so I guess you get what you paid for.

The dashboard design looks like a early 2000s era website. It did not allow me the flexibility to bulk manage my writing orders efficiently. I had to search and download my orders one by one. There needs to be a serious revamp on the UI front to something more modern.

Next, the writing quality was terrible. Simple grammar mistakes all over the place, sometimes ineligible sentences, poor titles, and bad writing structure. The writers cannot follow simple writing instructions. For instance, my instructions said NOT to write about "How to find a good locksmith" and the writer submits an article with that topic. Content Authority suggested I simplify my instructions for the writers. Don't know how I can make it any more clear than that. But given the writers obvious foreign and poor English, I guess pictures would be better than written instructions.

I would not use this website for content and don't recommend it for anyone. It is the cheapest around so there's that.

These people buy newly expired domains and try to scam money out of you. They'll mail you a letter saying your domain is expiring and try to get you to pay them crazy money to renew it. Don't do it! They try to mislead you by making the letter look official but they're just trying to scam you money.

Then they'll e-mail you to renew your domain for 6x the normal price. Scummy business practice.

I had a package coming in from overseas. It went through customs but on the day it was out for delivery, the tracking said it had an incomplete address and had to be sent back to sender.

After several weeks of contacting the sender to try to fix the situation (costing $13 in additional postage), I got my package and saw the original problem was that the clowns over at customs used a shipping label that had the address cut off!

The good:
- Good prices
- Good selection
- Friendly user site

The bad:
- Bad customer support

GearBest is good when nothing goes wrong. Unfortunately when things do go wrong, you will get very little support from them. Over the years I have spent over $300 on them and had no issue. My latest order, I never got the package due to incomplete address. I've always used the same address for past orders without problem so mistake is either with courier or GearBest.

When I talk to GearBest, they offered me 2 choices:
1. Pay $10 USD for reshipping
2. Have the package be destroyed with no refund

Don't see why I have to pay for a mistake I never made. I will be disputing with paypal instead for a full refund.

Update 1: GearBest has contacted me and 'graciously' offered to reship my package. They told me to wait 2-3 days for updates.

Update 2: After 5 days with no updates, they asked me to wait another 5-7 days.

Update 3. After another 5 days of no updates, I received a package pick up notice from local post office. I went to check it out but was told the sender put a $10 USD collect fee on it that I have to pay before I can get my package. I paid and it was GearBest's package. I thought I wasn't suppose to pay? I'm assuming what happened was GearBest never contacted the courier for reshipment so they sent it on their own with a collect. I asked GearBest what happened and they just said it's outside of their control with no offer to reimburse me. I checked the label on the package and sure enough the reason why it was marked as incomplete address by my local courier was because the label was improperly printed! All the first letters were cut off including my house number!

Conclusion: I will not be using GearBest for large purchases anymore. I think it's fine for <$20 purchases. But for anything big it's really not worth the headache when something goes wrong. This package was suppose to take 7-14 days to arrive and yet it took over a month and I had to pay $10 USD out of pocket for shipping even though GearBest said they would pay. I lost time and money on this order. Use other chinese stores if you can.

Also, I'd say 99% of these 5 star reviews are fake. They have asked me to post 5 star reviews for them in return for instore points. For those who are considering posting fake reviews for the points, I just want to warn you those points are virtually useless. You can only use them for up to 15% the value of your order and it cannot be used in conjunction with coupons or certain sales. You can find coupons for most of their products that gives you more than 15% off anyways so those points will rot and expire.

I hired them to repaint my store and I am very satisfied. The paint job looks amazing and there was very little downtime needed. My customers love the new look

I bought something from China and UBI Group was used as the ship forwarders. I've purchased a lot of things from China over the years but this is the first time I've had an issue. Canada Post would not deliver my package due to an incomplete address. Luckily for me, I actually had a picture of my package prior to it being mailed and everything was 100% correct. I contacted Canada Post who said the label most likely got damaged on the way. Anyways, after talking to the sender it seems like UBI Group asked for $10 USD to reship the package OR have the product destroyed at their warehouse (Not returned to sender but destroyed). I've never had a problem with shipping in my life until I used these guys. Their policy obviously incentivizes theft and quite frankly I do not trust them at all and would suggest others to avoid doing so.

I used Dave Holt to help buy my first home in Mississauga. He was super knowledgeable about the neighbourhood and really took the effort to meet my needs. He did his due diligence during the purchasing process. I had relatively little stress thanks to him

As a first time home buyer there are a lot of things I didn't know. I went to these guys for help and they answered all my questions and also told me my expectations were unrealistic. They showed me alternative options for my needs and really taught me a lot
