I’m am a self employed automotive technician
Well here's one I don't like..
A few years back I had bought a used fish tank light on eBay.. had the guy put extra insurances on the shipping because of its fragile nature. Even paid for the packaging even had a picture of the receipt.. ( or at least a quote for shipping packaging and insurance)
Long story short the light was late and damaged.. got ahold of ups and the shipper.. turns out they didn't put the extra insurance on. Buddy had a friend in the ups store I'm guessing.
I phoned ups store manager and explained the situation.. they felt bad and offered to pay the shipping back.. not the insurance cause it was never paid he said.. even though I paid extra for it.. so after a few months and various long didstabnce phone calls he tells me he's issued a cheque and it's in the mail.. waited a couple more weeks no cheque.. called back they said it has been received and cashed.....
They sent out a cheque to the original guy that shipped it.. after all the calls we were on a first name basis..
So now not only did I get screwed on the shipping and extra insurance.. I've just spent a couple of months to give the ass that did this more money..
Called ups again.. they said to get ahold of the original shipper.. did that he said thanks for the extra money and that he was broke so would not be writing a cheque to me ever.
Called ups again they said sorry..
Anyhow I never ever use ups ever I go out of my way to not use them..they take to long gouge on duty.. once you go brown you can't get the taste of out of your mouth..
I use rockauto daily.. 99% of everything on there has a picture so you can look right at the part.. a lot of the time I use it to make sure I'm getting the right part locally.. and when I can't get it local I know it's avalible through rockauto.. sometimes I even use there oem part numbers for the local dealerships.
We've had a few issues with faulty parts and it was know hassle at all they took care of it.
The other good thing is there has never been any extra duty ever.. it's always what you pay when you buy..
I have abosolutly nothing bad to say about amazon..
whenever I have had a issue they have gone out of there way to make sure I was taken care of.. provided contact information email links etc, provided shipping and even offer to reimburse if the original seller refused.. and I am yet to have a issue with any of the sellers..
They have let me try amazon prime more than one for free.. I don't have wifi at my house so I can't really reek the benefit
As far as price goes I am already aware of a price before I start looking.. if your going in blind...well..
They provide me with answers when I had questions, ask questions from me for other people about product I have bought.. this I like..
I do live in remote area and shipping is shipping.. let's be honest once it's left the building it's kinda out of Amazon's hands as far as shipping goes.. and I'm betting they eat alot of shipping..
So many times I've gone out of my way to make sure I buy from the little guy and feed small business.. but at the same time the moment there's a problem .... it's your problem...

this package was time sensitive and they said it would...
