We ordered a big screen Samsung 3D plasma TV from HDHut via nextag pulling it as the best deal. We also ordered 2 blu ray players at that time. The TV was sopposed to come with a free wall mount kit (which it did) and a free cleaning kit (which never came). The shipping was advertised as free, but we paid $129.99 for expedited 3-7 day shipping. With the expedited shipping, came free cables. Which we paid for at a deeply discounted price, because, of course, the cables we needed were not included in the free ones. We paid $35 for the cables for the second blu ray- I gave them a description of the TV it was going with and they said that that was the cable I needed. We did not recieve a confirmation email for a number of days, which they sent to us only after a couple phone calls to them. There was some 5% fee, that I still am unsure what it was for.
We were anticipating tracking info. I called a few more times and got a bit of a run around. The TV finally shipped out days after we were soppossed to have it at our house via the expedited shipping we paid extra for. To our surprise, when it arrived, it was only the TV. The other items arrived individually over a matter of a month and a half. When we finally recieved our secondary blu ray player, the $35 cable was not the right cable. By this point though, we were so tired of dealing with them, that we just threw it in a cupboard.
It seems to me that they are not a store and have no inventory. I believe that they are a drop shipper (they order the products when you order, at a very cut rate, charge you a little extra, and profit from the difference of the two). In the end (I think at least) we did end up saving a minimal amount, but they were definitely misleading and did not come through on any promises they made.
I decided that the least they could do is give me a refund for the $35 cable they recommended that was not correct. When I called them, for the umteenth time since originally placing the order, I asked to have them send me a shipping label so I could return the unopened cable to them for a refund in exchange for the fact that nothing arrived expedited or even close. They recommended that I keep the cable, and that they would just refund the $129.99 that we paid for the expedited shipping- stating that they just wanted us to be a satisfied customer. Of course, days went by and no credit was made to my account. I called repeatedly and repeatedly received bogous excuses about how it had been done, wouldn't go through, ect. Then I was told to send a paypal request and they would refund my money that way. 3 weeks later, and many paypal request reminders later, and more phone calls, I'm pretty sure that I am never going to recieve that money. I really need to thank them though, since my bank account ended up short with multiple bank charges (my bag, but it was based on the belief that that that money was going to be credited to my account-silly me).
