I am sharing my personal experience with a small company which is located in Murrells Inlet. S. C. It is Swift Appliance which is totally different from Swift Air Conditioning and Electrical. I do business with the latter and the service and customer service is superb!
I broke my "own rule" about only doing business with Home Depot & Lowe's, because they will always back you and they are always "polite" to me. I have done business with both for forty-one years. Thus, I am very angry with myself for going to a small business where you are at the mercy of the owners and their personality and how they decide to treat you. I have learned my lesson, and I will be willing to stand or sit for the other two stores to help me as long as it takes that day or another day! Being that those two stores are always busy, they are obviously doing something right.
Before I bought an appliance from the small business and paid $1,023.00, they were nice and polite. What I will share is the most honest I can share. First, I am 76 years old, have multiple health issues, my husband is living in a facility, and my daughter survived near death a couple of days ago. I share my story and I know many others have similar ones. I share my sad story to allow you to know that I shared it with the young woman in the office which was painfully aware to me that she could have cared less. As many of us know, it is not what a person says, but the tone which says everything. I know probably most of you of a certain age have been talked to in that "manner"understand what I am saying. She gave the phone to the owner, she was defensive of her employee but never apologized for the younger woman. I believe those of you who may read this are not interested in all the small details. After the delivery, I needed someone to come back briefly to my home to help me with something that I was not aware of and confused about. I was scared to run it here by myself. I made two appointments with the owner and the owner cancelled both, she said, due to schedule, and offered to come the third time "when" I could not be available, beyond my control. She said to me the most ridiculous statement which was call us, if any chance, the new appliance leaks on my new wood floors and they would come over. I was in my car at that point and I told her the traffic was heavy that time of day especially and obviously it would be too late! She had to be joking?
Thus, the owner gave me what I consider a very insincere speech that was very easy for me to see. At that point, in my very sincere opinion, the owner got what she wanted in that I would give up due to my health and family concerns. I learned a very "unpleasant lesson", especially at my age, that I should have stuck with Home Depot or Lowe's all along! I read people real well, due to my background, and I could clearly see, sadly, like many others in today's world, they care only about the next sale and not to waste time with me after the sale.
