The ridiculous censorship and removal of any comment that does not pass the liberal smell test is excessive to the point of making the site pointless. Certainly crazy or abusive comments need to be removed but issues such as whether racial equality is real or a myth or other controversial subjects like alleged police brutality or whether some women lie about rape cannot be discussed.
3-21-20 Actually to their credit, Quora seems to have gotten a little better lately.

I have over 400 orders with Ali Express, mostly electronic parts, and some expensive electronic test equipment. Still, I was accused of being a liar when I disputed the charge for an $8 necktie I never received or signed for. For standard shipping here in Thailand, they've changed from using the post office to cheap fly-by-night delivery services that cannot even find my house. Their method of presenting merchandise by frequently showing the highest-priced model and description along with the price of the lowest priced model is pointless and dishonest, yet it's done on many items. I'm only using them now for things I absolutely cannot get elsewhere.

Tip for consumers:
Opt for better shipping than standard, the cheapest ones can take up to 2 months. You absolutely cannot contact them or even write a complaint freehand. Their entire customer contact system is by message and appears intended to make you give up. You will not get a human on the phone no matter how hard you try. I put "no refund" above because it's virtually impossible to get one. Often just shipping the defective item back to China (if you can find an address) is cost prohibitive.

Products used:
Electronic parts and test equipment and some clothing and fun purchases

The price quoted for a rental car means nothing unless it includes insurance and collision damage waver. I'm an American living in Thailand and have used them 5 times to rent cars with no problems.
The best part is that for USA rentals to foreigners (or Americans living abroad) is that they package up the car rental, liability insurance and collision damage waiver into one price that's far less than I could buy it at the counter. They use all the companies, but avoid Dollar and Thrifty. You'll be happier and wait about an hour less if you spend a little more and get Avis or Hertz.

October 2019, once again, no problems. Rented a Hyundai from Avis for $452 for two weeks in Los Angeles through Rentalcars and Avis. No problem whatsoever, I gave them the voucher they gave me the car. Price included liability and collision damage waiver.

I've bought several items from Banggood and had problems getting them delivered since they did not use the post office and their courier could not find my house, but that was tolerable and worked out.
Lately however I've noticed Banggood charging a postage/delivery fee on sale items that effectively eliminates any of the savings. This is sneaky and annoying Standard shipping used to be free. I've also noticed they charge for delivery insurance. Why should I pay delivery insurance? In most of the World the risk of loss during transit is on the vendor until the item is delivered, apparently China must be different or this is a rip off. For the two reasons above I have stopped ordering from them.

Yanwen (aka Yanwen Economic Express) is one of the cheapest shipping choices and often the standard or "sellers method" choice for shipping on Aliexpress and others. Avoid them, your package will take at least a month to reach you. From China, they ship a package bound for Thailand to Malaysia, then re-label it and ship it to Thailand (who knows why). It takes a month or more and their tracking is a useless joke. Pay extra to get better shipping unless you like waiting.

Paypal is great because it limits the number of companies and people to whom you have to give your credit card information. I like to do mail order from China and appreciate not having to give my financial information to companies I'm not certain about.

I started using Paypal again after my credit card number was copied and cloned and have not had a problem since.

  • eBay

I ordered a piece of electronic test equipment from an eBay seller who had a perfect record of customer reports. Turned crooked all of a sudden or something, but my $65 device never came, the sellers site immediately closed and the complaints started piling up reaching 90.
EBay refunded my money without any argument, excessive paperwork or excessive delay. I was highly impressed. EBay does protect their buyers.

I wanted to do a trial order to see how good they were. They would not accept my credit card because it's an American card and I'm staying temporarily in Thailand. I then tried to use Paypal, with which I've never had a problem and they would not accept that for the same reason. Akiexpress takes my card without any problem and Banggood takes my Paypal without any problem.
Security is great, but they appear more interested in playing cop than selling merchandise and it would be impossible to send a gift to someone who did not live at your credit card mailing address.

  • Lazada TH

I originally wrote a scathing review of Lazada but have had better experiences with them lately including an immediate refund on a keyboard that was nothing as described and they paid return shipping. I've also had 1 day delivery on several items that was impressive. They really are improving.
