I don't know if or how much what-a-gadget.com charges to ship this item, but I do know that if I paid $39.99 for these finger puppets I would NOT be happy about it! Don't get me wrong, they are super-cute and well made, if my granddaughter didn't gradually lose them all I would never have had to order more. But she does lose them all, any why? Because they are small! They are finger puppets and they are intended for use by children, in which case they must fit snugly on a child's finger... so, yeah, they're definitely on the small side. I would estimate each puppet measures no more than 2 1/2 - 3" from top to bottom AT THE MOST. I have put a couple of them on my fingers while I was playing with my granddaughter and they fit my pointer, middle and ring fingers so tightly that I can't keep them on any of those fingers for more than maybe 45 - 60 seconds before the end of my finger starts to get all cold and tingly, and none of them will fit on my thumbs at all.
These are GREAT finger puppets, they are well made, the colors are bright and vibrant, and all the ones I have bought have functioned exactly as they were supposed to. It usually takes my granddaughter about 2 months to lose them all and in those 2 months of daily play during which they get chewed on, (by the kid, her little brother and sometimes the dog) stepped on, dropped in mud, (or worse!) thrown, pulled on, stuck on sticks and such and otherwise totally abused, NONE of them has ever ripped or had their heads or arms or anything fall off. When they get dirty we toss them in a lingerie bag and put them in the washer and then in the drier and they're fine. If they didn't always get lost I would never order more. Then again, maybe I would, they are great puppets and whenever we clean out a car or out from under beds or couches or whatever and all of a sudden we have like 30 finger puppets the granddaughter is on could 9 and we get unlimited finger puppet shows until they all start to disappear again.
Bottom line: These are GREAT finger puppets but $39.99 is WAAAAAY too much to pay for them.
If what-a-gadget.com is charging $39.99 for finger puppets available on amazon.com for $3.39, then what else are they price-gouging on and by how much?
