I am writing this review as an artist who signed up for the most expensive plan offered by Artspan and I am still in the free trial period. I researched a number of sites through which artists can sell their work, and this site looked very organized and beautifully done. I chatted with an agent, asked questions, and by the end of our chat, I felt confident that this site would be very helpful in getting my work seen and sold. I have been painting for many years, have been represented by galleries, have been in shows and festivals, and have sold work. I felt it was time to try the online experience of selling.
I can't tell you how disappointed I am. After carefully following instructions and posting my work, I soon discovered that my work was not even being seen, although I chose the "feature" button for the 10 or so works I had on my page. One or two showed up correctly, but the others were completely buried, and when I did find them all I'd get when I clicked on them was a "500 error" message. All you saw was an image of my work but nothing else regarding print sizes, frame choices, etc. showed up, making it IMPOSSIBLE to sell anything. I went through this time and again with an agent. Nothing was fixed or resolved. The promised email of each chat session was never sent eithter. I feel they are dragging me along, waiting for the free trial period to end so they can charge my credit card the full amount! I finally found the phone number and called. Wouldn't you know all you can do is leave a message. I doubt they will call back, and if they don't, my next step will be to call the Better Business Bureau, who has resolved problems for me before. I didn't start out this angry - I was feeling good about this site and very hopeful and convinced that they care about artists and their work. I do not feel that way now, and all I want is OUT.

Tip for consumers:
This business allows artists to post both originals and print-on-demand artwork to customers.
I am an artist who has been painting in acrylics for decades, and I have shown my work in a number of galleries, shows and festivals. I studied art and graduated from my state university planning to teach art. Instead, I decided to pursue a career as an artist. I began to venture into selling art online but have been disappointed in the two websites I've tried so far.

I have been with FAA since 2021. I have been painting in acrylics for decades, have been represented by galleries, have been juried into shows including a prestigious one in my state. I am not what you'd call a "beginning" artist. However, I'm not famous.
To be on FAA my recommendation is that you be famous or at least well-known. If you are not, your chances of being seen or featured are practically nill. You have a better chance of selling your art standing on a street corner.
FAA says sell your art and you might get featured, but imo they don't provide any meaningful tools to help you sell. I looked at their upgrade plan and I don't see any meaningful advantages over the free plan. FAA suggests you go to their forum to get "help". The forum consists of other artists you are competing with for attention, so I do not trust fellow competitors to help me succeed.
The entire time I've been with FAA I see the same names, the same artists who are already famous at the top of every category, no matter what "keywords" I enter. To get to my work you'd have to spend several hours going through pages and pages of artwork. Most customers are not going to do that imo. Would you? The fact is, FAA is too big. You are competing WORLDWIDE with other artists, including dead artists such as Van Gogh. Do you really think you stand a chance?
Add to this fact that you make very little per print that you sell. It has been a complete waste of my time. I am going to a smaller online venue where at least I may stand a chance of being seen. If people can't even see your work, what's the point?

Tip for consumers:
This review is from my standpoint as an artist trying to sell on Fine Art America, not as someone trying to buy art. Artists can purchase a plan as a seller on FAA, but my review includes criticism of this plan which I saw no value in purchasing.

I didn't get my so-called "free" dark web report! Now I'm just on the hook for their ads! You try to contact them on the website and all you get is a bunch of topics I'm not looking for - just a lot of run-around!

I have been a member of Viewbug since August 2016. I have been very pleased with the site, aside from a few issues I've brought up before, and clarifications that still haven't been made to my satisfaction, and from reading here, other people's satisfaction as well. One thing that really "bugs" me is the lack of definition for awards we can give to others. What is the meaning and difference between giving someone a "top choice" award versus "all star", for example? Those definitions and differences continue to be unclear to me! Another experience I've had, which someone else here complained about, is that I, too have had the same photos pop up in different trifectas when voting in a contest. What is happening with that? Why are one or two photos in a contest continuing to be repeated in different trifectas I'm being shown? Also, Viewbug needs to add a "clear" button. I agree with another reviewer on here that the buttons are sensitive - I too have accidentally given a peer award when I wanted to give more! Can a clear button be added to erase this sort of mistake and give a person the higher award they deserve? Other than that, I am overall very pleased with Viewbug. Once some of these issues are answered and resolved, I think I will be happy to give Viewbug 5 stars!

Hello Rebecca,

Thank you so much for sharing your experience and are glad to hear that you enjoy being a part of the community.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience. Unfortunately, sometimes members upload an Adult Content without the filter or forget to click on the box for Adult Content. If our members report the photo, we'll be able to locate those images faster and filter them appropriately.

We are sorry to hear that you feel pushed to upgrade to Pro membership. We’ll be sure to share your feed back with our management team.

Please note that Finalists are a mix of popular shots, top voted + judges selections. The votes in a contest help determine the People's Choice winner. The finalists can include images that ranked during the voting period, but not all ranked images will be a finalist. The Grand Jury Winner is selected from among the finalists, which again, is not determined by votes so the voting rankings are not applicable in this category. The total number of finalists can vary, depending on the contest.

We value your membership and would like to learn more about how we can improve your experience with us. Please feel free to contact our member support team at members@viewbug.com for any questions or concerns.

Have a nice day!

First, let me say that I'm a new user to this site, where you can post photos, join different communities and share all sorts of things. However, I am tired of seeing so much porn on this site! There seems to be no way to block these photos and videos from being seen by me and/or my grandchildren! If this doesn't change - I may leave permanently. I find a lot of photos/videos on there VERY offensive.

I joined this site and THEN I found out that it was "pay to play" all the way! Some of the most TERRIBLE art makes it to the top of the ladder simply because people are paying for more "views" of their art and the more your pay, the more you get seen, the more chances at votes you get. So unless you are rich and you don't care about the TRUE merit of your work, AVOID JOINING THIS SITE.
