7/9/18

My wife and I are seniors and both travel by air extensively. This trip involved a family reunion and I decided to pay for my immediate family's tickets... I thought I would try the new airline that was extensively advertising its services as a discount airline. Thinking that I would save some money, I bought tickets through Flighthub... What a mistake. When all was done, i was nickel and dime'd into a fare that was equal if not more than the same flight with West Jet... They charge you for carry on because it expedites boarding... WRONG... We were delayed a half hr. Because the on board staff couldn't get a proper head count... some babies were on their parent's lap and some were in the seats so the final announcement was aggressive and basically said, 'If a baby is supposed to be on your lap, put it there and if it's supposed to be in the seat, put it there.'.
The plane looked tired with some seats refusing to recline, magazine pouches had holes in them, and the coffee cart was branded, 'easy jet'. Obviously a hand me down from the european discount carrier often referred to as 'sleasy jet'... My son had to dance over screaming babies(toddlers) playing in the aisles while trying to maneuver his way to the washroom... There is no flair when flying this airline. Perhaps if one flew 'naked', one might save a couple of dollars and overlook the discomfort, but for me, it was a one time experience...

. We arrived by ship on a November, transatlantic cruise in San Juan and had no flight to take us home. Scotia Rewards, our agent, notified us whilst we were in the Atlantic that we would have to spend five days in San Juan before we could get off the island... Air Canada had suspended its flights... I resorted to self help in getting the three of us on a puddle jumper(Seaborne) to Punta Cana and then a Westjet flight from there. Spending five days in San Juan would not only have been impossible as no hotels were available, but there were rumours of no clean water or electricity... What was supposed to be a 1300. 00 dollar flight home cost us over 3000. 00. Now i'm in the process of trying to press my travel insurance to recoup the difference. I hope Air Canada does the right thing in mending the breach in loyalty that we experienced with our national Airline. Update: My travel insurance did pay us for the difference but it still irks me that Air Canada would make an economic decision to cancel its flights at a time when most other airlines were resuming their flights to and from San Juan. I got the usual 'sorry for you experience but.' email from Air Canada. I will no longer book through Scotia Rewards who took little responsibility in getting us out of San Juan.

Booked through Expedia with confirmation that car was booked in Orlando. Arrived to find total chaos and no cars for everyone there. We were sent to another provider to get a car for a day as they would have a car tomorrow. Arrived the next day and was told that my CAA and gold card was not enough proof that I had rental coverage and therefore I had to buy their coverage at 14 bucks a day. That almost doubled my rental cost. They hit every customer there with the same and the shouting of dissatisfaction was deafening. We were given a car that looked like it had been in a war zone. The inside lining on the ceiling was falling down. We took it out of desperation only to find that we had to pump up a tire every morning. On my way to exchange the car... wish me luck Update:. They also deal under the name Signature Rent a Car... as for the European name sake, i would say to them that they should get after Expedia and not after me. As it's Expedia that is booking the vehicles under the name Economy Rent a Car in Orlando..

I have not tried to use my voucher so I don't know if there is an 'end' complaint but my issue is with the way they present a gift certificate which I bought as a Christmas present to a friend. It was to the doctor's house for dinner. The voucher does have the recipient's name on it... good... but it also gives the purchasing information. Ie. How much I paid for it... When has anyone given a gift(well maybe my mother in law) and in the gift card stated what they paid for it... When I called teambuy, they stated that the restaurant needs to know... Well, it specifically states 'Three course dinner for two' on it... why do they have to let the recipient know what I paid for it... very tacky, I think... I will not be buying any gift vouchers from them in the future.

I bought a voucher for a restaurant in toronto and planned to use it for my birthday. It expired Nov. 11th as per voucher... When I called on the 9th to make a reservation a tape kept coming on asking the customer to make the reservation. I wanted to talk to a real live person to indicate that I had a voucher as the small print in the voucher says I should do... I called on Sunday and continuously got the tape again and again... It turns out that the restaurant is closed every Sunday and Monday and has been so for a very long time... When I called LivingSocial and asked why they would make the expiration date on a day that the restaurant was closed, they told me that I had the voucher since July and should have known and furthermore even if the restaurant were open, there is no guarantee that there was availability. To which I said, 'fine and that would make it my fault', but that opportunity was not even given to me as the restaurant was closed for the two days that the voucher implies it to be open... Out of the 99 dollars that I paid they were prepared to give me a 30 dollar credit. They also said that it was the merchant's problem for not being open and they could do nothing about that... well yes they could. They could have made the expiration day two days earlier and I could live with that...
