There is both pros and cons to this site.

Pros:

First the site is now free and depends on advertising (though not completely 100% free)

Second the features are great on the site such as video and voice file upload which sometimes you never get on other sites, forums to join, free online chatting with other members in a free chatroom, watermarking of profile pictures which means your picture cannot be taken and used by a scammer

Thirdly customer support does do cleanup of the site and tries to eliminate fake profiles and scammers when they find them and they have reports about them

Cons

Firstly Scammers are found on this site e.g. Translation scam agencies have been known to post fake pictures of women so that men who correspond with the "lady" must later on pay the translation agency to correspond with the "lady" who may in fact not be real at all. You might have to go through a lot of sifting to get to a real person on the site. There are also army mail scammers (and other scammers) who send army mail scams to one's mailbox.

Secondly some of the features are limited such as sending flirts. There is a limit to how many one can send a day. One can send unlimited flirts only when one pays for this service by upgrading. It betrays the claim of the site that it is free

Thirdly its advertisement come from places like amolatina.com which is anastasiadate.com's affiliate site and has been known to be corrupt just like anastasiadate.com

Fourthly customer service has been known to be slow to respond to customer feedback

Fifthly there are technical difficulties that sometimes the site experiences that can take some time for them to correct it. This can be frustrating at times.

Despite the negatives the site's technical features are great. One would have to pay for these features elsewhere and the fact that they are offered by the site free of charge shows how somewhat okay the site still is. Just be careful of scammers and report them immediately when you find them. People have found others on the site.

Smartdate is not always that smart and one way it isn't "smart" has to deal with making deductions from you without your approval or consent. Here is a story from the ripoff report to prove this. Although it has an "Italian" perspective it still brings the point across

"I was debited by Smartdate (I used the Italian one) for a service that I cancelled correctly 10 days before the expiration date which was 27th of september. I found out a month later that a certain amount my charged on my credit card. I wrote to the client service many times but no reply. The incredible thing is that they charged me for a service which I never received. This webiste is a total bogus. A big percentage of user don't really exist. I told them to cancel all my information, but it's still on the website. They keep our account name to attract other user to fool like us. Smartdate has no address, no phone number to contact. If you write them they never reply. The guy that replied from Smartdate France who is this guy? I encourage current users to close immediately any credit account they have with Smartdate before they debit you again illegally. Where can I send my proof? Can this guy from Smartdate France tell me where I can send a copy of my charge amount and that I never received an premium service after sept 27th, 2011.

I think their client service is in a big mess, because they never reply. It is totally out of control. Have you seen that their job openings are all technical service people? Is there any one left to provide client complaints? What's the use of writing to Smartdate service if they don't reply. I wrote to them al least 50 times! Usera be very aware, because once they debit you they don't refund you! Even it's their mistake!"

Smartdate needs to change their activities to one that actually is smart.

I can tell you with me ripoff report gets my highest rating. I was personally cheated out of my money from a so-called "honest" company that used dishonest means. I am thankful that I was able to post a permanent warning on this site about their activities so as to warn others about their ways and shame the company.

This is why I like this site so much because it means that the site does not remove reports like some sites that take money and will take down the reports. Ed Madgeson has actual been sued for millions of dollars in order to get him to take down the reports on his site but because he stands for freedom of expression and the first amendment rights of others the courts are always in his favor.

People often have a tendency to discredit consumer advocacy sites and say they are scam but they cannot be blamed for the reports because they do not put them there. Reports are done by different individuals and with the hundreds of thousands of reports on this site it is impossible for one person to write them all.

I only blame consumer advocacy sites if they take down a legitimate report because they were cowards or greedy for money but I cannot blame this site because at least it still gets an A plus for standing up courageously and refusing to take down its reports.

The only problem with the ROR that I have is with editing reports which sometimes it may not always want to and sometimes trying to find reports and the long wait one must experience at times in order to actually see one's report but I know for sure they are not removed from the site.

Now that's integrity to say the least that cannot be bought or sold. We could all learn a thing or two from that.

This site might be trying to garner some attention because it is trying to "clean up" the former soviet union dating scene but that does not mean it is clean also as well. There still lingers some dirty elements with this site.

This site first and foremost is a specialist site and deals with the former soviet union dating scene. It is not the more common general dating sites that others are accustomed to like Match.com or E harmony, etc.

It uses a verification system where it claims that users who come on the site must first verify themselves as real people so that one will definitely know that one is actually communicating with a real person. However this does not mean that you can verify the character of the individual and here is where the problem lies.

The site was created by the same owners as hotrussianbrides.com which is a scam mixture site that has been known to have professional chatters as well as scammers. If this site comes out from the same owner who owns hotrussianbrides.com then one should expect this site to be degenerate and despicable just like hotrussianbrides.com is in its ways as well.

Not to be confused with city-of-brides.com this site is a site full of scam mixture elements in presenting foreign women. One seduction point for sites like these has to do with their engagement/married lists that are used to "convince" men of their legitimacy but there may not be solid verification to support that a lady is actually engaged/married and this list may actually have elements in it to fool some that these ladies actually are.

Here is a few things one should know about this site and others like these

1. Just because a lady appears on the engaged/married list does not mean that she cannot marry someone and commit marriage fraud later on so as to escape her country and its situation. In other words there is not a 100% guarantee of the connection actually lasting.

2. Just because a lady's profile appears on the site does not mean that she cannot be a scammer in disguise.

3. Just because a lady's profile appears on the site does not mean that she cannot be a golddigger or a prodater (professional dater of men with no interest in them at all)
