I've been using this site as a buyer since 2001 and I've never had a bad experience, but mostly because I only buy from sellers with a good reputation. Their shipping deals are better now that they've partnered with DHL. Judging by the reviews here, I probably wouldn't use it as a seller. They're an international company that should provide great service for both buyers and sellers.

I'm giving it 3 stars. I'm not sure why the main site displays only 1 star.
I've had an Amazon account since its early days, when they used to sell mostly books. Their service was always A+ (secure transaction and packing, fast shipping), but the international shipping costs were always terribly high. Buying from resellers was an option, but shipping would still cost me up to ten times more than the product.
I made the transaction in the MX version of the site, which is secure and easy to navigate. My computer was personalized and shipped directly from Cupertino in a week via UPS. The package was secure and the tracking system very reliable. I've bought other products from Apple and the experience has always been great.

Tip for consumers: Student discounts are only made with standard payment (1 month).

If I'm not mistaken, I ended up at Udemy via Social Stack, and to SS via Boing Boing (?). I've bought some courses that were good and some of them so complete that I haven't had the time to finish them. It's great that you can check them out at your pace. The courses offer interaction between the students and the instructors. The store is easy to navigate and secure. No problems at all, but I've also taken free courses that were a waste of time. I'd go for the best rated ones, unless you have plenty of free time ;)

Tip for consumers: Subscribe to Boing Boing / Social Stack / Udemy newsletters for promo coupons.

Cocotli is based in Monterrey, Mexico. It sells health, organic types of products; some of them imported from the US and some Mexican. I've bought Braggs vinegars (very hard to find in MX), various teas, soaps and shampoos, all of them A+ quality. Their site is very easy to navigate, the transactions are secure, they accept credit cards and Paypal, and their packaging is great and secure. They send via Multipack, a cheaper type of UPS but very reliable. I usually buy more than $600 MXN to get free shipping. I don't know if they have alternative forms of payment, such as deals with Oxxo type of stores, as credit cards and Paypal are still rare in Mexico. I'd buy from them again.

Tip for consumers: Subscribe to their newsletter for promo codes.

I wanted to buy a book at standard (physical) book stores, but it was sold out. I didn't think RM would have its own e-shop, but it does and it works just fine. It's secure and the shipping was reliable. I can't remember which company they work with, maybe Estafeta. Recommended site, they need to advertise it more.
I bought some products this past "Black Friday" ("Buen fin" in MX). Great deals and the transaction was fast/secure, as well as the shipping. They provide great packaging, maybe it relies too much on plastic bubbles. The standard prices could improve, as well as the description of their products.

Tip for consumers: Subscribe to newsletter for coupons/promos. Buy during special days and get the rewards card.

I bought an electronics product from an US seller via, with free shipping costs offered by Amazon. The price was the cheapest I could find, comparing to Mercado Libre MX and physical retalers. I had no problems with customs, the product quality was great and the packaging was secure. Amazon MX is still in its baby steps and their catalog is very modest, but this is great to overcome the crazy shipping costs from the US store.
I've only used it as a buyer. It's great to find new artists and better than licensing your songs to Spotify or Apple. The UX could improve, especially the music player, which is ugly.
I had a good experience with Airbnb. My stay was cheap and convenient, but I stayed at a house with zero security and the owner was never home. I kept thinking there could be a fire, a robbery or something worse, and no one would ever know until it's too late. The only line of defense was to basically lock your door. Airbnb needs to work on security guidelines.

* Their customer service was quick and helpful. I had to cancel my first booking and they refunded the money. For my second booking I chose the place with the best ratings.
This is the Mexican competition of Eventbrite, not Ticketmaster. They need to work more on adding a social experience and a calendar of events that can be recommended. The site is very bare-bones, but functional.

I really am disappointed in Mercado. The worst thing is they are so inconsistent. I order one...

This website is a complete scam. I messaged a seller asking for shipment to the United States...
