LinkedIn allows fake profiles to remain on their platform. If someone steals someone's ID and starts to use their name to impersonate them, esp. Setting up a platform on LinkedIn. LinkedIn will not remove the profile. This happen to me. Someone, pretending to be me, is using my name without my consent. They have committed ID theft. This was reported to LinkedIn, and they did nothing. Their response is, " we respect the right of all members to freely express themselves. We don't monitor, filter, or remove member-generated content from our site unless they are inappropriate as defined in our User Agreement and Professional Community Policies. " This is their way of letting you know that someone stealing someone else ID and using the name to set up a profile on LinkedIn (basically steal someone's Identity). Isn't inappropriate for them (LinkedIn). The profiles on LinkedIn cannot be trusted as real, unless you know for sure the profile is of the person or business you believe they are portraying.
