  • Mugasha

5/24/10

I usually listen to Digitally Imported, but Mugasha is what I stream at work now. Mugasha has put together a very impressive set collection from most of the top DJs (Armin van Buuren, Ferry Corsten, Tiesto, etc.) The interface is great -- the player breaks up the sets into individual tracks so you can see the title and the artist of each song, and also jump around. For each track, it shows how many people have listened to it and how many people liked it. And if you find one you really like, Mugasha makes it really easy to share it with your friends or purchase it on iTunes.

I do have two small complaints about the site. First, the collection is very trance-heavy. There isn't much progressive house yet, so you'll be disappointed if you're looking for your favorite Sasha or Digweed tracks. Second, the music player is embedded into the website, like Pandora, so you have to keep the browser / webpage open for the music to continue streaming. If you forget and start browing around, your song gets cut off. By contrast, Digitally Imported allows you to stream directly to Windows Media Player or Winamp, so you're free to leave the website to do other things.

Aside from these minor issues, the best and most important thing about Mugasha is the music. Two words: Tiesto ClubLife. Enjoy!

  • 1-800 Flowers

5/11/10

Customer service is top notch -- I found out that my mother was out of town for Mother's Day and called them up the day before to see if I could switch the order. I was able to switch the delivery date to the following week for no extra charge (even though I was using a discounted delivery rate for the holiday). Customer service representative was very friendly and accommodating.

One caveat -- prices are a bit hefty, especially when compared to going direct to local florists. But they do deliver on what they promise and the flowers have always turned out great in my experience.

  • Kids-in-mind

4/8/10

As the MPAA continues to relax its ratings, content in motion pictures that would have once seemed controversial is now quite commonplace. While not a big problem for adults, it can be difficult to tell which movies are really suitable for children. I have often watched a PG-13 movie and been a little surprised by the amount of profanity and action on the screen.

Kids in Mind is a neat movie review site which allows adults to rate how appropriate a film is for children. With a strong focus on current box office offerings, it rates films on the three dimensions of sex, profanity, and violence, and even lists in great detail the instances of each category to explain the ratings. It also describes the overall message conveyed by the movie and what lessons a child will come away with from watching it.

Many may find this information excessive or unnecessary, but I think it's a great resource for parents who do care about what their children are exposed to these days.

Best celebrity gossip site! - always has the most recent breaking news that no other news site can get! This site is as good as it gets... i love it!

  • The DJ List

7/11/07

The best list for electronic music - this site is the best place to look at who's hot on the dj charts. I am a big trance fan and i think it's great that year in and year out, the trance djs top the list. Will anybody unseat the dutch masters?

I am also a house fan, so i appreciate the presence of sasha. Another favorite of mine is his protege, james zabiela.

Anybody out there know of any other good dj lists?

Received a box as a present and everything came well packed in an insulated box. I actually left the box open for a few hours before I was able to put everything away in the refrigerator and everything was still perfectly frozen. My box came with two grass fed filets, two Angus NY strips, two lobster tails, a bag of scallops, four bags of wild shrimp, and two A5 Wagyu sirloins.

I was planning on grilling the A5 Wagyu steaks but learned that they are not supposed to go anywhere near a grill. Instead, you're supposed to cut it up into small pieces and sear them on a stainless steel pan. I decided to save this for a more special occasion.

Instead, I grilled up a filet, a NY strip, the lobster tails and the shrimps for a family "surf and turf" dinner. It turned out really well. My kids who don't usually eat meat loved the NY strip and my wife enjoyed both steaks. I can't wait to try the A5 Wagyu in a few weeks!

For anyone working out at home due to shelter-in-place, this is a great accessory to relieve soreness and aid in muscle recovery. It's also really effective for getting rid of any tightness in your back and shoulders from sitting at your desk for too long. We researched a bunch of percussion massage guns (there are a ton on the market and you can get some decent knockoffs for cheaper), but we chose Achedaway because it is known to be one of the quietest ones on themarket and we didn't want our bedroom sounding like a construction site.

  • Centraldev

3/4/17

I have known Marcelo for over seven years and have worked with Centraldev on many projects for our company. Centraldev provides access to a talented and affordable pool of engineers down in Argentina. I have always been happy with the way they manage their projects and the overall quality of their work.

Marcelo is an excellent communicator and always responds very quickly whenever I reach out to him. He is also very fair and goes out of his way to make sure his clients are getting a great return on their investment.

Centraldev prioritizes the long-term satisfaction of its clients, which is why I have returned to them over and over again. I highly recommend them to any company that is considering outsourcing some or all of their engineering projects.

First off, let me start by saying the the SNOO is a beautiful piece of furniture. Even if all it does is sit in the corner looking pretty, you might be able to justify its hefty price. I was a bit skeptical at first, but I must say the SNOO does do everything it claims to do. It combines a white noise machine with a swing with a swaddle with a bassinet. It can literally replace all of those things and save some space in your house.

It's actually quite simple -- the SNOO pipes in white noise and rocks at different levels of intensity that you can control with your phone. And it automatically adjusts the intensity based on how much your baby is crying. It even has a weaning feature that helps the baby adjust to life without the SNOO as it grows older.

So far so good, but verdict is still out on whether it can help sleep train a baby to sleep through the night by 2 months! Now that would be something...

Tip for consumers:
The SNOO comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee. And that includes shipping, so it's hard not to give it a shot if you're desperate for sleep.

  • Kickstarter

10/25/16

Kickstarter is a innovative micro-patronage site which connects aspiring
Creatives to those who want to be more involved in endorsing interesting
Projects. The way it works is that individuals who conceive of a project but do
Not have the money to pursue it or don't want to bear the financial risk can
Submit their idea to the site. Donors can then see the projects and decide to
Donate as much or as little as they want to support one they find interesting.

The artists benefit from seeing how viable or interesting their idea really is
Before they decide to follow through on them. And the donors typically get a
Memento or are somehow incorporated into the project. For example, one project
Involved a women sending a postcard from around the world every day for 365
Days. If you donated to her cause, not only did you help out financially, but
You provide one of the 365 addresses and in turn receive one of the postcards!

Projects have ranged from new restaurants, world travel, movies, and even open
Source social networks. The homepage organizes the projects into different
Categories so that they are easy to browse and each project shows how much money
Is required and has been raised so far. I praise Kickstarter for helping reduce
The friction around true innovation and creativity.

  • Global News Enterprises

6/18/10

GlobalPost is a fairly new online news website providing very high quality international news for the internet. Started by Phil Balboni, it's mission is to "redefine international news for the digital age... with a decidedly American voice." As traditional news outlets founder and foreign media bureaus close all over the world, GlobalPost runs a lean operation by hiring individual global correspondents in over 50 different countries.

Having followed the site for some time, I've been impressed with their coverage of international events, but more so by the quality of their reporting and writing. I particularly like their video features and opinion pieces. GlobalPost just seems to be heads and shoulders above most other mainstream news sites out there today.

  • Going

6/10/10

I find this site fairly useful for discovering activities in your local area. It has a nice mix of nightlife, outdoor activities, and cultural events, so there is always something interesting, no matter what you're in the mood for. I like the way the site is organized, the social features, and the ranking of events by popularity. But I mostly interact with the site through the weekly email, which seems to show more interesting and less mainstream events that I otherwise would never find out about.

  • Covers & All

Verified purchase

Ordered a cover for a small fire pit and was happy with the delivered product. We had previously ordered a cover for an outdoor table and it was of similar quality. I would recommend measuring very carefully, as they add a an inch or two to the dimensions and the final cover could be a lot bigger than needed.

Reason I chose this business:

Ordered from them before and liked the results!

I was looking for cotton long johns as it gets really cold inside the house. I settled on David Archy due to their selection of different thicknesses and materials. I ended up getting the Stretchy Cotton Fleece Lined Base Layer Pants in black and blue. They are very comfortable -- I wear them to sleep but also wear pants over them during the day to stay warm!
