The LCBO site basically does what it needs to: shows you items and lets you purchase online or for same-day pickup etc.
For these purposes it works well. I'd gladly recommend to anyone especially since we don't have any other legal options in Ontario.
My issues start with the data itself, the site does not show the same data as the app, and things get strange if you use a VPN. I'm into whiskies and check the site and app daily to see where the "rare" bottles are and how many. Here's a recent example: Bottle-X said it's available in Toronto as the closest option (2hrs from me). The app said there were 12 bottles available in brantford (40mins from me), when I'm on a VPN that points to Toronto, the site now says there are none in Brantford. I drove there anyway and seen the 12 bottles on the shelf, bought 4 for myself. Next day, the app shows 4 less available in Brantford, the site shows zero available. I changed my preferred store to the one where I bought the bottles and then the site now says there is 1 available. I call the store and they confirmed all 8 are still available.
It's not a big deal, but it defeats the purpose if the info isn't accurate, or varies between platforms. App and site up to date on my PC/mobile. Also has also been an instance where I seen an extremely rare bottle on the site, only 1 listed in all of Ontario and it was something we weren't supposed to get down here; I called and asked about how it was ever available in Canada and the store manager told me someone ordered it and didn't pick it up. I asked how I could order something similar and he told me I couldn't. There's something shady going on with a few stores and also the vintages bottle allocation service also under the LCBO umbrella. Me and some friends/enthusiasts are investigating and I'll update with our findings.
