Buyer Beware!

UPDATE! As of 02/18/18 Mr. Feinberg, Owner/manager of Certified... is refusing to work with us to resolve this matter through the BBB, the MD Attorney General's Arbitration Program for Consumers and REFUSES TO PAY DAMAGES WE ARE LEGALLY ENTITLED TO by virtue of our contract. The AG's Arbitrator informed us they would submit our complaint to the MD Circuit Court for 'forced resolution' if Mr. Feinberg refused to co-operate.

Why incur the additional expense of court, the potential of paying OUR legal and court costs, a permanent public record of all 'unresolved' complaint details with the BBB, AND the permanent record of online 'reviews' when all this could go away if he chose to treat his customer disputes in a fair and reasonable way?

Does Mr. Feinberg not understand that we all use the NET to vet our potential business partners? Boggles the mind.

Mr. Feinberg has shown himself to this customer to be unreasonable, unprofessional, obstructive and, in our opinion, unethical, in resolving this customer's complaints and hard damages. Beware folks. Hire at your own risk!

Original Post:

We hired Certified, Mr Mark Feinberg (owner/Mgr), for an international move from the US to Canada, at a cost of over $32,000. Their agent, Don Hott, assured us repeatedly our belongings would be protected, their team had 'decades' of experience and our valuables would arrive undamaged and safe.

Upon the arrival of our belongings, 90% of our furnishings arrived broken or needing repairs. Read that twice! Our truck was 9 days late, 50 boxes were double-tagged, 70+ items unaccounted for and all patio items (huge BBQ, patio furniture, tools, gardening equipment, etc) MISSING! Whoa! What a nightmare! Feinberg insinuated we were not being truthful the missing items. It was all 'found' several weeks later in an unmarked pallet' in Certified's warehouse!

When we asked WHY these items had been marked as 'loaded' on our shipping container, when it wasn't... Mr. Feinberg told us 'well, it was a long day and we were all tired'! What?! What?!

Half of Certified's fully trained' staff had no clue what they were doing. They arrived, threw their supplies on top of fine wood furniture and an Italian leather couch/loveseat without covering them first to protect them... causing damage. It just got worse from there! One 'well trained' staff scratched circles in our hardwood floors by wrapping our large Curio Cabinet by twirling it around IN PLACE as HE stood in one spot rather than walk around the piece to wrap it. Our floor had to be refinished! Half the crew left after 4 hours every day (wouldn't even SHOW UP the final day) leaving a huge overwhelming job to the dedicated 3 who stayed. Wow!

One woman, named Samantha, day 2 as an 'expert', packed up our full kitchen, my office, equipment and supplies and our great room... WITHOUT PACKING PAPER! The stress of this nightmare has been horrific. Imagine the scratches and damage sustained to our belongings! We have over 850 pics! Valuable/fragile items thrown in with heavy, jagged items, no wrapping or protection... causing a plethora of unnecessary damage to the entire contents. No one seemed to know the value of anything they were handling nor how to pack it to protect it! Eg. ALL dress shoes, most in new or like-new condition, dumped in the bottom of a box w/ ladders, luggage and other heavy metal equipment dumped on top of them, crushing them all. This in spite of the packer being asked specifically to wrap them separately. The manager/owner's response, 'oh, just wear those shoes for awhile, they'll be fine!' or 'oh, just put a cushion on your crushed and broken $1000 patio lounger. No one will see the damage!' Unbelievable!

Expensive Stainless steel pots and pans, cutlery, knives, kitchen ware, office equipment, professional reference library (1000's of valuable books all in pristine shape to begin with!), personal items... everything just dumped into boxes, without paper or padding and taped up! Fine solid wood furniture, Italian leather living room furniture, grand piano, solid stainless steel prep tables, all which looked new, all now with scratches, gouges, torn, crushed... you name it!

Total disrespect and disdain was shown for our valuables! We will never recover from all the damage. Once pristine items we spent our lifetime protecting... now are either garbage or look like garbage.

A multitude of pics were sent to Mr. Mark Feinberg... he denied that any of it was wrong, and denied any responsibility for the damages! And Don Hott REFUSED to speak with us!

We've asked repeatedly for a refund. Nope.

BUYER BEWARE! DO NOT HIRE THIS ORGANIZATION FOR YOUR PACKING, STORAGE & MOVING NEEDS. IN OUR EXPERIENCE THIS ORGANIZATION HAS BEEN INCOMPETENT, NEGLIGENT, UNETHICAL, HAS UNTRAINED STAFF AND WON'T TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED BY THEIR ACTIONS.

Buyer Beware!

We hired this company, Mr Mark Feinberg (owner/Mgr), for an international move from the US to Canada at premium fees in excess of $32,000. Their representative, Don Hott, assured us over and over that our belongings would be treated with care, the 'decades' of experience both he and Certified had in the industry, and that our valuables would arrive to our new home undamaged.

90% of our belongings arrived either completely broken and needing to be replaced or needing repairs. Read that twice! Our belongings arrived, 9 days late, with double tagging on approx 50 boxes, 70+ items unaccounted for and despite showing as being packed on the truck on their inventory reconciliation sheet, everything we had on our patio and in our backyard - a huge BBQ, patio furniture, tools, gardening equipment, etc... completely missing! Whoa! Sorting that out alone has been a nightmare! After management insinuated that we were not being truthful about not receiving our patio/backyard goods (which was confirmed to management by the local company who off-loaded our belongings), it was all 'found' several weeks later in some warehouse back at Certified's shop, unmarked as ours!

During the packing, several 'fully trained' staff were in attendance in our home. It was obvious from the beginning that half of them had no clue what they were doing. My husband and I did our best to mitigate damage but with a three-level home and workers in every room, it was tough. They threw their supplies on top of fine wood furniture, scratched the floors so badly during pack up that it all had to be refinished, half of them left after 4 hours each day leaving a huge overwhelming job to the dedicated 3 who stayed.

One woman, named Samantha, who was sent on the second day as an 'expert', packed up our full kitchen, my office, equipment and supplies and our great room... WITHOUT PAPER... we subsequently found when it all arrived! The stress of this nightmare has been horrific. Imagine the scratches and damage sustained to our belongings! (eg. - one of hundreds - a $650 pair of eyeglasses, not in their case dumped unwrapped in the bottom of a box and office equipment dumped on top!) They all dumped very valuable items in with heavy, jagged items, and no wrapping or protection, thus causing a plethora of unnecessary damage to the entire contents. No one seemed to know the value of anything they were handling nor how to pack it to protect it! My expensive dress shoes, most in new or like-new condition, were dumped in the bottom of a box with ladders and luggage and other heavy metal equipment dumped on top of them, crushing them all. We took hundreds of pictures and sent many to Mr. Mark Feinberg... he denied that any of it was wrong, inappropriate and even denied any responsibility for the damages! And Don Hott... refused to speak with us! Whoa!

We've asked for a refund. We've been denied. Told we could make a claim. They pay. 60 cents per item per pound. Do the numbers. That would equal about $400 for a completely destroyed grand piano!

BUYER BEWARE! DO NOT HIRE THIS ORGANIZATION FOR YOUR PACKING, STORAGE AND MOVING NEEDS. THIS ORGANIZATION IS WITHOUT INTEGRITY, UNETHICAL, DO NOT HAVE STAFF WHO ARE TRAINED OR WHO WILL CARE FOR YOUR VALUABLES AND THEY WILL NEVER TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE DAMAGES CAUSED BY THEIR NEGLIGENCE. THIS ORGANIZATION IS A DISGRACE TO THEIR INDUSTRY AND HAVE NO RIGHT EVEN BEING IN IT.

BUYER BEWARE! MATCH IS AN UNETHICAL COMPANY WITH FRAUDULENT BUSINESS PRACTICES. DO NOT SUPPORT THEM WITH YOUR $$$$$$

Tried to sign up through their site. It would not process my payment. I kept getting an error message. I tried several times, with a couple of payment choices - my credit card and PayPal (which is associated with a different email address but the SAME funding account and personal identification information. AND the email addresses are EXACTLY the same except for one is me.com and one is hotmail.com). It finally worked. I successfully purchased a 3-month subscription. Only to find later that evening that their faulty site had processed more than one payment and opened more than one profile under my name, using both email addresses and charging me hundreds of dollars in overages! Match WOULD NOT REFUND THE OVERCHARGES because they said that these were DIFFERENT ACCOUNTS! Cited their 'policies and procedures' dictate that refunds aren't allowed! Whoa! This was their site's error, not mine! Their 'chat' person could clearly see in their records that the subscriptions were identical in terms of my personal information, the date and time of the purchase, and the credit card used for both were the same!

A subscription is with a PERSON, not an EMAIL ADDRESS! AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, THIS WAS THEIR ERROR!

Their 'chat' person would not escalate my complaint nor was I allowed to actually speak to a manager! Their 'chat' person just kept quoting from their P&P manual and then disconnected the call and disabled my ability to lodge another complaint or 'chat' with anyone else! Match WOULD NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR ERROR WHICH COST ME HUNDREDS OF $$$!

I'M SURE THAT I CAN'T BE THE ONLY ONE THIS HAS HAPPENED TO!

THIS COMPANY IS COMPLETELY UNETHICAL! A CONSUMER SHOULD HAVE THE ABILITY TO SPEAK WITH A PERSON WITHIN ANY ORGANIZATION SELLING A SERVICE TO THE PUBLIC AND SECURE THE REFUND OF UNAUTHORIZED FUNDS.

THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS! I REPEATEDLY REQUESTED TO SPEAK TO MANAGEMENT AND A FULL REFUND. I WAS HUNG UP ON. THERE IS NO PHONE NUMBER TO ACTUALLY CALL AND SPEAK TO ANYONE. YOU ARE AT THE MERCY OF THEIR 'CHAT' PERSON!

THIS COMPANY IS UNETHICAL AND FRAUDULENT. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER SUPPORT THIS COMPANY BY PURCHASING A SUBSCRIPTION. THERE ARE PLENTY OF OTHER SERVICES ONE CAN AVAIL THEMSELVES OF. BUYER BEWARE!

THREDUP placed an extremely low value on the designer items I sent in for evaluation and resale. Each item they wanted to keep and resell was evaluated at less than $2 as a payout to me! Immediately upon receiving their email informing me of their proposed payout to me, I began contacting them and clearly communicating that I did not wish to use their service and withdrawing permission for any of my property to be either kept or sold by them. They kept and sold many pieces of my property anyway! Told me once I sent in my property, I no longer had dominion over what happened to it and that I wasn't allowed to request that it be returned to me! Are you kidding me! THREDUP assumed ownership of my property and denied me the rights for full dominion over my property. THREDUP profited off of property they virtually stole from me. I asked THREDUP to reimburse me for the items they illegally sold. To date, I have received no compensation for these items sold, I continue to receive automatically generated emails from their site informing me of the sale of my property and I have received a small fraction of my property returned to me. I have submitted complaints to the BBB and the San Francisco Consumer Protection Agency. Beware consumer! Beware, beware, beware.
