I am an HVAC contractor and have been in business for 13 years. Over the 13 year period I have installed nothing but Goodman brand equipment. Hundreds of installs of Goodman equipment and 13 years later, I have filed warranty 5 times. (2) blower motors, (1) inducer motor, (1) compressor and (1) coil. The compressor failure was just that one in 5,000 lemon that failed from the factory in 2 days. Replaced for the customer at no charge and 5 years later, it's still kickin. To the person with 5 failed coils, it's impossible to have 4 coils fail on the same unit like that. Installed should have checked and replaced the Schroeder valves on the outdoor unit for approximately $5 and chances are you would have stopped losing refrigerant. I've seen it too many times to count where companies assume leak is coil related. As for any of you paying for labor when you feel it should be warranty related, find different a contractor. I back all my work with 10 years labor and register all the products I install for the customer and send them the registration certificate. Why would I give 10 years labor warranty on products that, according to many of you is junk? I would be out of business in no time. I've never had one problem getting warranty exchange on the 5 items in 13 years. The reason I can back my work for 10 years while using Goodman equipment is because I'm installing the equipment correctly. My advice to you all with bad experiences, find a new contractor not a new brand. Brand means nothing as I've seen Trane, Lennox, Bryant etc... all fail in under 5 years because of incompetent installers.
