I came to online purchasing late in life. I was very hesitant to put my credit card info out on the web. Plus I always preferred dealing with brick and mortar merchants. If I had an issue I could walk in to the store and resolve my problem. Who knew how online stores would handle customer service. Well Amazon quickly sold me on online purchasing. Both of my kids and most of my grandkids are in other states. Anyone who who has tried to ship anything knows that shipping costs are outrageous. So I tried making a few purchases from Amazon. I always bought enough to get free shipping. I didn't have Prime at first. The first time I had to contact customer service I was so pleased with outcome I decided to stay with them. I'll give you an example of Amazon's customer service. I was given a Kindle Fire as a gift. It was purchased from a Major Electronic Chain Store. Within the first couple of weeks I started having an issue with it. I phoned the Major Electronic Chain Store and spoke to one of their customer service people. I explained the issue to her, giving her the date of purchase and the fact that I did have the receipt. Her response was that I would have to bring it in and if it was something covered under the warranty they would look as t it. But if not then I was pretty much SOL. I had explained in detail to her what the issue was. It did not have anything to do with abuse of the Kindle. It had a clear operating issue. She just kept to the same not interested attitude. I told her to not worry about it. I would call Amazon. But that I would never set foot in her store again again. To this day I have not. I did call Amazon. I made it very clear that the Kindle had been purchased from this other very unhelpful store. They did not care. They sent me a shipping label to return it to Amazon and as shipped me a brand new Kindle. Every time I have ever had to phone Amazon's customer service they have gone above and beyond to make sure that whatever issue I am having is solved. I do have Prime now and I HIGHLY recommend it to everyone. I can spend over a hundred dollars shipping one box to my kids. So the cost of Prime is a bargain. Not only do I have free shipping all year, but free books, movies, and all kinds of other things. I love this company.
