About Me

a nurse with 35 years experience in pediatric nursing; now disabled and unable to work. I was one of the lucky ones; someone who felt her job was her calling in life, and enjoyed going to work. I am Catholic.

How I Can Help

I have cared for dogs for most of my life. If asked something that I don't know the answer to, I can be tenacious in researching online to come up with a solution.

Interests

Dogs! Reading, movies, embroidery, flower gardening.

I joined this website several years ago, hoping to meet more people in their 50s and up. What they don't tell you is that this site is owned or partnered with match.com. So although you post your profile here, you may get "matched" to men who are in their 30s. Even if you put down your desired age range as "50-60". Aggghhh! I don't want to date men who are young enough to be my sons.
BTW--- did you know that some men lie when they post a photo? I met someone who was 50 lbs. heavier than in his photo, and had been that way for years. I am not knocking his weight. I used to be VERY heavy. But tell the truth, for the love of God. I'm going to find out when I meet you, anyway.

The free version of AdAware scans your computer for viruses, malware, spam, etc. The free version was OK; did a good job of scanning my computer for viruses.
I had problems when I attempted to purchase the "professional" version, which had a 7 day money-back guarantee. Well, the professional version was full of bugs, and slowed down my computer. I attempted to get a refund of the subscription price. That's when the nightmare began. They had charged my bank account in TRIPLICATE. It took months of me communicating back and forth with them, for them to appear to understand what they had done. Even then, they reimbursed me for only one of the subscriptions. They still owe me $54 to this day. Each time I have tried to communicate with them, they have responded with something like "This case has already been closed." or some stupidity like that. It's been about a year, and I have gotten nowhere with them.

I'd previously written a review about AdAware. Problems I had with this site continues. I was just sent a bill to "auto-renew" my AdAware Professional. This was the problem I had 2 years ago. I had NOT authorized renewal. And they still owed me $54 for double-charging my account in 2009. I sent them a response immediately; told them to cancel all supposed subscriptions to site.
Today I recevied 2 emails minutes apart. One stated that my account had been cancelled. The second stated that my account had been charged for a $27 annual renewal fee. So it's back to the beginning-me and my bank vs. them.

I had been a member of this site on and off for about 4 years. I joined for 6 months initially; very few matches, that had nothing in common with what I had "looked for" when I submitted my profile. This site is mainly for traditonal Catholics. After months with no matches, I let my subscription expire. Then I miracously got a match! Someone had sent me a " Smile, or an e-card"... BUT I had to renew at a minimum of $19.99/one month to even view my Inbox.
The only thing I enjoyed about this site was its "Open Forum" area, that was further subdivided into categories, such as "For divorced Catholics; for widows or widowers; for people seeking prayers; common interests; He said/She said; etc. each of these categories was found under a Saints name--who's supposed to be the saint you ask to intercede for you to God. It's a Catholic thing.

On eBay I was able to purchase items not found anywhere else. For example, a radio/cassette player for a 15 year old car. I was able to contact the dealer, who wanted over $300 for a replacement radio for my car.
I was able to purchase a refurbished radio/cassette player from eBay for $35. I paid $20 to have it installed in my car. Other than not having a light, it's still working great after almost 5 years.

You are supposed to earn money by filling in surveys, playing games@ online sites like Winster, doing Internet searches, clipping coupons, etc. For each Internet search you do, you are credited one cent! Terrible. When you log-in, you are credited 2 cents. Surveys were redirected to a site called Toluna; most times I "did not fit criteria needed for survey"
Site sends emails daily; I cannot decrease frequency. Tried the Winster website for games--I was supposed to get $4.00 for signing up; did not receive it. Also was supposed to get $3.50 for accessing TurboTax through their site; again did not receive it.
I wanted to cash in and uninstall their software; found out I had to have a minimum $30 in order to cash in. It took me over 6 months; finally I hit the magic $30 mark; I am still waitng for my check.
As soon as I receive check, if ever, I will stop using site.

It is a straightforward site; no gimmicks. I have successfully purchased items and had them delivered promptly. Have had no problems with this site, and I have used them several times.

I started off purchasing 10 bids. That cost $9.90 I used up the bids. I won a "bid Pack" of 15 bids. I used those, then purchased ANOTHER 10 bids for $9.90. All in all I have spent $45 on this site and was able to win $15 of bids. NOT WORTH IT.
Even when a bid is at point of "going once. Going twice", people are still bidding. Probably "Big Hitters" who can afford to buy bids in large bulks. Then set up an automatic "BidAgent" to place bids for them.
I lost $30 on this site. Never again.
