About Me

People say that I'm witty...Nah, not really. Just insolent, but very well educated!!!

How I Can Help

Simply, you'll get the objective truth...no more, no less. Well, wait one...maybe a wee bit of humor too. However, we all know what the saving grace of humor is...If you fail, no one will laugh at you 8^)

Great site for all your sporting good apparel needs. I've ordered many pairs of shoes from Adidas.com and all have been shipped promptly and arrived in a timely fashion. The clothing is always "top of the line" too. I've never had to contact Customer Service for anything... so, that's a good thing.
One thing tho, I can't ever seem to find any "Air Jordans" here... the link must be missing!
Relax... I'm teasing. You'll never find a pair of Nikes on my feet. I've been a "3 stripe" guy forever. So, if Adidas is where your loyalty lies, this is the place!

Do you want a place to get all of the hobby stuff anyone could ever want? And, get it all for a fair price? Well, here it is! Of course, it can't have all the different hobbies covered, but if you're looking for most, I assure you that you can find it here! Whether it be model rockets, trains, arts and crafts, painting, books, brewing, paints yada, yada, yada, this is a "must visit" site.
As I stated earlier, their prices are cheaper than anywhere that I've found overall. Delivery is prompt and reasonable.
If you're not careful, you'll not only find what you need for your present hobbies, but you'll probably find stuff for a few new hobbies too!

Simply, quit reading these reviews and get to the site. For what Khan Academy provides, there is none better. Now... GO!

  • Revolution Kites

12/26/13

First of all, you must be interested in "high end" (cost) kite flying. To the normal person, spending $250.00US on a kite is absurd. I agree (but I still buy em).
There, now that that's out of the way, we can move on to the kites. These are, without a doubt, the best quad line (4 line) kites available. Extremely well made, a total blast to fly... you don't just hold a string, you actually fly the kite with the 4 control lines. Total precision while screaming across the sky. Don't believe me? Go to YouTube and search "Revolution Kites... then watch in amazement. One video will "say" more to you than me typing all night here on "Site Jabber";-)

  • Shari's Berries

12/26/13

I've had nothing but great chocolate dipped strawberries from Shari's Berries. Big, sweet, beautifully decorated (for a strawberry...) treats that the ladies (and guys) in my office just love.
Plus, the chocolate dipped cherries were a big hit also.
I order both multiple times a year and haven't had any problems.
I can, however, see how shipping a perishable such as this across the country from California during the summer months might be an issue even when packed in dry ice. Use your common sense.

  • Knockaround

First... the background story. Generally, I've been a loyal Maui Jim (Kaanapali's) customer for years. They are great sunglasses... no argument from me, but they are pricey. Yea, pricey... they are expensive ($200.00US and up). And, I have multiple pairs...
So, why am I writing this? Simply, to share how great the sunglasses from Knockaround are.
Candidly, they are a great value in eye wear. A good friend lent me a pair while boating one day and I was hugely surprised. The glasses were lightweight and comfortable. More importantly, as you are aware, the lenses make the sunglasses. If you're squinting and your eyes are tired afterwards, throw the sunglasses overboard. Junk the damn things.
The knockarounds were fantastic. Quality impact resistant, polarized, crystal clear lenses that offer UV400 protection for around $35.00US. (They also offer less expensive glasses too.) Impressive...
Yes, I still have my Maui Jims, but I also now have 5 pairs of Knockarounds. When I visited the site, I couldn't decide on just one style. So, at this price, I bought all five. Check it out!

If you're into checking out all the satellites flying high above the earth, then this is your site. Satellites of all types can be tracked from many different categories e.g. military, weather, TV, radio,... or, simply, by most popular... or brightest... or just launched. This site gives you the best viewing times with the naked eye... no telescope required! That's great if you're trying to show the youngsters "what's up there". The site will even notify you by email/text when your favorite satellites fly overhead and can be viewed.
Right now the Int'l Space Station (ISS - ZARYA) can be seen frequently and is the most popular.

  • MagicGeek

12/26/13

Simply, the best online magic shop on the net. WOW... that's a big statement, but I challenge you to find better. Thousands of products at great prices. Lots of product reviews, blogs, demonstrations, etc.
If you're into magic, at any level, you must check out magicgeek.com.
Now, where do we start... Oh yea..."pick a card, any card;-)
SADLY, MAGIC GEEK NO LONGER EXISTS. Reasons... too many to get into here. However, check out Penguin Magic or Vanishing Magic... Google em... both great suppliers!

  • Steve Spangler Science

If you ever need anything relating to science fun for the kids, then this is the place. All types of science stuff that make learning great for all ages. Products range from the inexpensive to a weeeee bit more for the "class kits". That being said, nothing seems "overpriced"... very fair.
If you're looking to "wow" the kids, check this site out. Its a blast!

  • Ashford

12/26/13

Latest order was a Rado Integral Jubile' watch on Dec. 9,2013. Rec'd from NY to California in 1 day... Ashford even paid for the shipping. Watch is beautiful and works great. This is my second watch from Ashford (previous Rado Ceramica in 2007... still AOK!) These watches are "grey market". Certainly authentic/new, but not factory warranted. Thus, the Ashford equivalent warranty. I even spoke to Rado CS in New Jersey and they gave Ashford the "thumbs up". Now, my watches have never broken (I have had the first one serviced normally), nor do I expect them to... however, I do trust Ashford completely if I were to ever have a problem within the warranty period.
Also, one other note of importance, within 3 days of receiving my latest watch, the price was reduced by $175.00 on the site for the holiday rush. Ashford immediately credited the $175.00 to my credit card. Simply, that is great customer service.
Will I ever order from Ashford again? Of course I will!

If you need a reasonably priced haircut (for men), don't hesitate to 'stop by' on short notice. If you need some specific service e. G perm, you'll most likely need an appointment.
There isn't an appt. Service for haircuts... first come, first served.
However, you can be put 'on the list' by using their online service... I'm not sure if this available for every location.
So, head for the website for verification.

RCI

If you have a timeshare, RCI is the largest vacation management exchange company around. When I've used them, they've been really good.
However, question the timeshare concept on its own merit...
Simply, I don't find them advantageous any longer.

  • Kmart

Generally, not my first choice. That being said, I've revisited our local store since they've reorganized as a company and am happy to say that you can see the improvements.
The store (in Santa Rosa, CA) is much cleaner/organized than before. The pricing and product selection compares very favorably to other "big box" discount stores in our area.
Candidly, I just have to get past my mental block because of their history... Kmart just doesn't "pop" into my thoughts when I need a store like this. Time will tell

  • Petsmart

8/11/15

Yep, my Golden loves this place... all those great smells and stuff. Plus, he doesn't have to wait in the car.
Between me and you, I'm not too sure that this conclusion will hold up to scrutiny... I get the same reaction at any store that he can go into. Hmmm, makes you wonder...
Nonetheless, every pet supply (dog) that you could ever need/want for your pooch. Check it out!

  • Home Depot

5/19/15

How do you not like these guys? I'm a capable handyman for most things around my house. That being said, the guys... and gals at my local HD have always been great. I don't require lots of attention, but when I do, they are always very helpful.
Product selection is always good (better be for a "big box" type of store), pricing fair and competitive...
Check 'em out!

O. K... it's very simple. Manage your expectations, realize what you're paying, understand what you're getting, keep your perspective and enjoy the store. If you need it cheaply, and it's here... BAM, you're a happy camper. Otherwise, go somewhere else and "quit your $#*!in'!
Oh yes... rhetorical question... who are these people that "return" things to the DT? Give it away, trash it, whatever... but, it can't be worth your time to return it. Plus, you hold us up in the checkout lines;-)

  • Game Stop

12/26/13

Definitely has a "truck-load" of fun and unique 'stuff". Actually, really cool products. That being said, most things are not inexpensive (double negative... oops... lol) and can be found elsewhere on the net for much less. It saddens me to say this because I've been a customer there for years.
I've never had any problems with delivery/returns/customer service so that certainly deserves a positive mention. Check it out.

  • Office Depot

8/11/15

What else is there to say? Average is as average goes... Product selection is actually very good, but their pricing is always on the high side, even with discounts.
Do I purchase items here? Yes, but if I can find it somewhere else, I will generally travel to save money.

QVC
  • QVC

4/19/15

If you find what you're searching for on QVC, then it could be a good buy... but, candidly, it's never a great buy.
Consumer electronics e.g. TV's, computers (any type) are rarely a good deal at any time even though the QVC personalities, and sometimes, the manufacturers rep are telling you otherwise. Simply, their target market for most things, certainly electronics, are the "less sophisticated" about these sometimes pricey items.
I've purchased other small "stuff" from them and all went well. Never would I buy a higher ticket item here. Thus, the average 3 star rating.

  • Groupon

5/18/15

Yes, the luster has worn off this "gem". Interesting concept and the deals were good... in the beginning. Now, well, my advice is to move on. Sure, sign up, give 'em your email and get flooded with more useless junk mail and then try to "opt out". Psst... they don't understand "opt out". Nonetheless, this should be a "pass" for you! There, you've been warned.
