About Me

People say that I'm witty...Nah, not really. Just insolent, but very well educated!!!

How I Can Help

Simply, you'll get the objective truth...no more, no less. Well, wait one...maybe a wee bit of humor too. However, we all know what the saving grace of humor is...If you fail, no one will laugh at you 8^)

Do you want a place to get all of the hobby stuff anyone could ever want? And, get it all for a fair price? Well, here it is! Of course, it can't have all the different hobbies covered, but if you're looking for most, I assure you that you can find it here! Whether it be model rockets, trains, arts and crafts, painting, books, brewing, paints yada, yada, yada, this is a "must visit" site.
As I stated earlier, their prices are cheaper than anywhere that I've found overall. Delivery is prompt and reasonable.
If you're not careful, you'll not only find what you need for your present hobbies, but you'll probably find stuff for a few new hobbies too!

  • Knockaround

First... the background story. Generally, I've been a loyal Maui Jim (Kaanapali's) customer for years. They are great sunglasses... no argument from me, but they are pricey. Yea, pricey... they are expensive ($200.00US and up). And, I have multiple pairs...
So, why am I writing this? Simply, to share how great the sunglasses from Knockaround are.
Candidly, they are a great value in eye wear. A good friend lent me a pair while boating one day and I was hugely surprised. The glasses were lightweight and comfortable. More importantly, as you are aware, the lenses make the sunglasses. If you're squinting and your eyes are tired afterwards, throw the sunglasses overboard. Junk the damn things.
The knockarounds were fantastic. Quality impact resistant, polarized, crystal clear lenses that offer UV400 protection for around $35.00US. (They also offer less expensive glasses too.) Impressive...
Yes, I still have my Maui Jims, but I also now have 5 pairs of Knockarounds. When I visited the site, I couldn't decide on just one style. So, at this price, I bought all five. Check it out!

Simply, the best online magic shop on the net. WOW... that's a big statement, but I challenge you to find better. Thousands of products at great prices. Lots of product reviews, blogs, demonstrations, etc.
If you're into magic, at any level, you must check out magicgeek.com.
Now, where do we start... Oh yea..."pick a card, any card;-)
SADLY, MAGIC GEEK NO LONGER EXISTS. Reasons... too many to get into here. However, check out Penguin Magic or Vanishing Magic... Google em... both great suppliers!

  • Game Stop

Definitely has a "truck-load" of fun and unique 'stuff". Actually, really cool products. That being said, most things are not inexpensive (double negative... oops... lol) and can be found elsewhere on the net for much less. It saddens me to say this because I've been a customer there for years.
I've never had any problems with delivery/returns/customer service so that certainly deserves a positive mention. Check it out.

If you ever need anything relating to science fun for the kids, then this is the place. All types of science stuff that make learning great for all ages. Products range from the inexpensive to a weeeee bit more for the "class kits". That being said, nothing seems "overpriced"... very fair.
If you're looking to "wow" the kids, check this site out. Its a blast!

  • eBay

I don't sell on Ebay, but from a purchasing perspective, I couldn't be happier.
I've ordered 500+ items over the last couple of years and have been very pleased.
Of all those total sales, only one transaction was an issue that required EBay's involvement. After investigation, EBay promptly refunded my purchase price because the Seller had 'disappeared' and wouldn't respond. This all happened within 5 days. I use PayPal so the money was returned to my account there.
One other time, a small item wasn't delivered. I contacted the Seller by email (China) and they promptly re-sent another. It arrived on schedule... problem solved.
Presently, I have another 5 'active' orders with 5 different Sellers and have complete confidence that everything will arrive as promised.
Best wishes...

Tip for consumers:
As with any purchase, be diligent and prudent...

When traveling 'worldwide', I always prefer one of the Asian carriers (No, I'm not Asian...)
Whether it be JAL, Singapore Air, or, in this case, Cathay Pacific, they will usually be my first choice.
The planes are newer and cleaner, the service personnel are polite and helpful, the food quality/taste is definitely better and they are 'on time'.
Simply, an A++ for me when flying.

RCI

1/19/18

If you have a timeshare, RCI is the largest vacation management exchange company around. When I've used them, they've been really good.
However, question the timeshare concept on its own merit...
Simply, I don't find them advantageous any longer.

A nice selection of menswear ranging from suits and sports coats to shirts and accessories.
Quality is good for the money. Thus, a really good value.
Check it out;-)

  • Office Depot

8/11/15

What else is there to say? Average is as average goes... Product selection is actually very good, but their pricing is always on the high side, even with discounts.
Do I purchase items here? Yes, but if I can find it somewhere else, I will generally travel to save money.

  • Kmart

8/11/15

Generally, not my first choice. That being said, I've revisited our local store since they've reorganized as a company and am happy to say that you can see the improvements.
The store (in Santa Rosa, CA) is much cleaner/organized than before. The pricing and product selection compares very favorably to other "big box" discount stores in our area.
Candidly, I just have to get past my mental block because of their history... Kmart just doesn't "pop" into my thoughts when I need a store like this. Time will tell

  • Petsmart

Yep, my Golden loves this place... all those great smells and stuff. Plus, he doesn't have to wait in the car.
Between me and you, I'm not too sure that this conclusion will hold up to scrutiny... I get the same reaction at any store that he can go into. Hmmm, makes you wonder...
Nonetheless, every pet supply (dog) that you could ever need/want for your pooch. Check it out!

  • Lowe's

5/20/15

First of all, I like Home Depot. So, why am I here? Simply, I really like Lowe's too. In some ways, I must like them a bit better. I've many of the same praises for both e.g. great service, great products, helpful employees...
However, reviewing my most recent substantial purchases (new washer/dryer, vinyl fencing, pressure washer...), I got them at Lowe's. Hmmm, makes you wonder. That says something...
That being the case, the Lowe's stores seem brighter/more appealing than HD. As for me, I don't really care one way or the other. However, my wife definitely likes Lowe's better for those types of reasons... thus, the previously mentioned purchases. What can I say? If she's happy... well, I'm happy 8^)

  • IKEA

5/20/15

Yes, you get what you pay for... Now, that doesn't really tell you much at all, does it?
O. K. Then... here goes. IKEA has so much "stuff" and to be candid, I really like most of the things they sell. From a price point perspective, with regard to furniture, it's in the "low to mid range" part of the cost scale. However, more importantly, they always provide a great value for their products. They are certainly worth "checking out". Go see... then write your own review!

  • Home Depot

5/19/15

How do you not like these guys? I'm a capable handyman for most things around my house. That being said, the guys... and gals at my local HD have always been great. I don't require lots of attention, but when I do, they are always very helpful.
Product selection is always good (better be for a "big box" type of store), pricing fair and competitive...
Check 'em out!

  • Amazon

4/19/15

Simply, how could anyone not like Amazon? This is absolutely one of the best online retailers that you can visit.
Huge product selection... great pricing... fast, free 2 day shipping (Amazon Prime... plus you get movies), great customer service (only had to use once in hundreds of orders...), etc.
There may be sites as good as Amazon, but there are certainly none better!

  • Walmart

4/19/15

Walmart... it seems that some people love to hate them;-)
Now, to be fair, I don't get "everything" at Walmart, but they always get the first look from our family. As for me, if I need anything and I can get it at Walmart, BAM! I'm at Walmart. What else is there to say.

  • Kaiser Permanente

3/18/18

As another reviewer noted "Are we talking about the same Kaiser?"
Simply, living in Northern California, I've been with Kaiser for decades.
And, as I've gotten older, their attention to the 'normal' maladies that effect us as we all age has been outstanding.
Granted, and fortunately, I'm a healthy 60ish with no major health issues (knock on wood).
They've even performed preventative screenings because of my age.
I've nothing but praise and support for the professionals that I've met over the years.
Best wishes...

  • Great Clips

1/19/18

If you need a reasonably priced haircut (for men), don't hesitate to 'stop by' on short notice. If you need some specific service e. G perm, you'll most likely need an appointment.
There isn't an appt. Service for haircuts... first come, first served.
However, you can be put 'on the list' by using their online service... I'm not sure if this available for every location.
So, head for the website for verification.

  • Timex

1/19/18

How could anyone object to a Timex?
Simply, a great little watch at a reasonable price.
Styling is conservative, in my opinion, but that isn't a bad thing.
I'm not sure that it can still 'take a licking and keep on ticking' as the 'old' motto suggests...
Lot's of choices for under $100.00.
They're certainly worth checking out!
