I have used Bonanza for years and would not hesitate to buy there as long as I used PayPal for my own protection.

For sellers, the site used to be exceptional, with speedy, human customer service. But now Bonanza has added a penalty fee for sellers who don't purchase their shipping, which they claim is the lowest around. Don't be fooled; it's not even close to the lowest.

They also claim they will refund you if you buy their shipping and find a lower-priced service elsewhere. I'm still waiting for that refund to appear.

And, just to solidify Bonanza's standing as Worst Shipping Ever, when you do buy their shipping, they add a $2 charge, which will be put toward the next shipping you buy from them, so "you're really not losing anything." As if. When you use the $2 they stole from you to buy a new shipping label, Bonanza will take another $2, so you'll never really get that money back. It's just a kind of blackmail to force you to buy their shipping.

Imagine going into Walmart for a pack of Oreos and finding a two-dollar charge added on.

"What's that for?" you ask.

"Don't worry, the next time you come in, we'll apply that $2 to your purchase."

"And then you'll charge me another $2 for shopping in your store."

"Basically, yes."

Let's face it, if Bonanza really did offer the cheapest shipping around, would they have to use extortion to get sellers to buy it? We'd leap at the chance to save on shipping. The fact that they have to force us to use it just proves it's a bad deal.

So, buying on Bonanza? Go for it. Selling on Bonanza? Be wary.

Used to Have the Best Customer Service, But Now...

Bonanza used to be a great place for sellers as well as buyers. But their newest shipping policy is basically extortion. Sellers now are required to buy shipping labels directly from Bonanza. Besides paying more for shipping, they are then taxed $2 per label. If the shipper sells another item, he can recoup his $2 by putting it toward another overpriced label, but is then taxed another $2 for that label, and so on, ad infinitum, thus insuring that sellers are always in debt to Bonanza.

Remember that all extra fees, taxes, and vigorish must be passed on to the buyer to keep the seller in business. So expect higher prices for whatever you buy.

At one time, this platform was the most ethical place to sell online. No longer. My extreme disappointment as a seller compelled me to scrap my former, highly positive review and replace it with this one.

I've enjoyed several trouble-free years with The Bandzy as my web hosting site. I score very little down time, an easy-to-use file manager, and a very reasonable rate. But they just added something invaluable--a free SSL certificate for paid users. The requirement is that you have your domain pointed there. No problem! The certification is free, and they set it up for you in about an hour. Free and someone else does all the work? Win-win, right? Oh, and their support tickets are actually answered PROMPTLY! Can you believe it? Love this site!

Tip for consumers:
Just be sure you go to thebandzy.com -- don't forget the "the" part.
