About Me

I am a 54 year old empty nester with lots of time on my hands

How I Can Help

I used to be pretty gullible but am currently somewhere between gullible and cynical so I think I am better able to spot the fakers and scammers than I used to be. (I also raised 4 boys in the meantime. That helped)

Total Waste Of Time... This is another "earn Listia credits" for doing surveys website. You do a survey first to see if you qualify and you are given a list of surveys you are suited for. So you pick one and you do a 5+ minute survey to be told you don't qualify for THAT survey. Tried it twice and have not completed a survey and earned the promised points yet.

"Surveys for Listia credits"... Total waste of my time. They NEVER follow through until you jump through hoops to "prove" you did the survey, and a lot of the time not even then.

I stumbled on to this website a couple months ago and I am SO hooked.

I've bought/sold on eBay for over 10 years (I'll review them another time) and the rising fees have slowly taken the fun out of it. Listia is the same idea but everything (except the occasional shipping charge) is FREE. For real free. Not "we'll suck you in then sneak in the charges later" free. It's FREE free.

The general idea is that you earn credits by trading your own junk, or you can do surveys or watch videos to build them up but see my review about Trialplay before you do that. The quickest way is to clear out your closet and get rid of stuff you don't want.

Then, you use the credits you've earned, to bid on the junk you want! GOOD junk. Most of what I have gotten so far has been brand new.

A majority of the "sellers" will offer free shipping so it really is costing you absolutely $0. But some, (like me) would prefer that you pay at least some of the shipping costs.

I have given away and gotten more stuff in the last 2 months on Listia than I ever did in 6 months on eBay and I've had a lot more fun doing it.

Advertised as FREE... NOT

EBay is the reason I learned to use a computer in the first place. I had no interest what so ever until I discovered their site and for that I should thank them. With that said...

I still buy / sell there but they aint what they used to be. Once they changed the feedback rules a few years ago (sellers cannot leave negative feedback for crappy, scamming buyers) it all went downhill from there. Customer service is non-existent for the seller and the fees have gone through the roof. Unless you are a drop shipper, wholesaler or live in China, it really isn't worth the effort anymore.

I had DISH for almost a year and was satisfied with it until I moved. Since I have been in my new apt, I have had the techs here on an average of every 3 weeks to adjust the Dish due to complete loss of service. Sometimes it goes out again 3 DAYS after they were just here. After about the 10th service call, I told them I would rather cancel my service and find something that will work at this address. They told me I was welcome to do that but I am still required to pay the early cancellation fee which they would charge to my card on file with or without my permission, but for my trouble, they would knock my bill down to 9.99 for the remainder of my contract plus ad some free channels. I never got the free channels, the service went out again within a week and my next bill was 38.00. I called them yesterday determined to get my service cancelled this time and get the cancellation fee waived. A good company would agree that this would just be good customer service at this point. The first person I talked to called me a liar. She said there are no reports of outages in my area, therefore she has "no proof" that my service is actually out. I demanded to speak with someone else and was told by the second person, once again, that I can cancel at any time, but my card WILL be charged. So I am stuck paying for a service that does not work in this building, for 5 more months. They are again, sending out a tech so that I can have tv for a few more days and then I start the whole circus over again.
