Goodman's specializes in replacement parts for electronics. In my case, I needed a stem for my Farberware 8 cup electric coffee pot. This company's prices and shipping charges were the best I found on the Interent. Additionally, the product arrived on the day promised.

For the first time in my life (72yo), I had cockroaches. I tried the roach traps--the cirtters asked for extended stay rights; the boric acid treatements--the bugs asked for straws to slurp more; the gels--they took baths in int. But, within 5 days after using Bengal Gold, my kitchen is at last cleared. The Company guarantees its product and does not charge for shipping, making it considerably cheaper than amazon.com

Last year, I purchased an 18 volt, cordless edger which I has performed beautifully. This year, the batteries lasted less than 1/2 of their supposed capacity. The Company immediately reacted to my call for help by shipping a replacement.

My comments are virtually the same as made for livingsocial.com: Expect 1 out of 10 offerings to be appealing. Also, before you purchase for a resturant, check to see how it is rated--sometimes there is a reason why the price is so great. Remember that a class C resturant for 1/2 price is no bargain. Best bets are oil changes and dental exams. Infrequently, the better resturants will provide a bargain--grab the deal quickly because they usually limit the number of purchsers.

Verizon Communications

My comments are strictly related to its wireless service:
The network coverage is outstanding. My problem with the company is that its customer service is what I call a 50/50. Half the time, the person will be outstanding and the other half the person knows less about the problem than I do. It is clear that Verizon's training is inadequate. For example, it took me 4 times before I found a techie who knew that HTC's Thunderbolt needs an update in order for the navigation system to work properly--I wasted a ton of time without benefit. After I did a survey noting how bad the service, the representative who called was obviously unconcerned about my comments. To be fair to the Company, a manager on duty during the strike was most helpful.

In terms of customer service, the site gets five stars. For example, I was charged for a nonexistent deal; as soon as I reported the error, they added $10 to my credit.

In terms of "good deals", I would say that about 1 in 10 offerings have a meaningful value--generally, you can tell becasue the product or service is limited to a specific number. Many offerings verge on the silly season. For example, a get away weekend in the winter to an Ohio resort.

It is worth exploring everyday but always check the prices at the source itself since sometimes you can get a better deal.

Most people think that they must purchase their cell/smartphones from their existing carrier. Nothing could be further from the truth--walmart and amazon's prices are considerably better for the phone. But, the King of all the sites for pricing and convenience is wirefly. For example, the HTC Thunderbolt is being sold by Verizon for $149.99 whereas Wirefly sells it for $9.99.

If you are confused about your phone, the help from Wirefly is outstanding.

It has taken me some time to learn about sheets: 1. Buying more than 500 thread count does not increase the quality but adds to the weight. 2. Not all Egyptian Cotton is top quality. 3. "Supima" Cotton is the top-of-the-line US cotton. This site sells 500 thread count supima sheets for extraordinarily low prices--a set under $100 that, for comfort, are nicer than sheets I have purchsed at Macy's for $400.

I would give the site 5 stars if it had more selections available and were a tad quicker in delivering orders. In terms of quality and price it is 5 stars.

I came to the site by virtue of Consumer's Guide noting that the $50 DirtDevil out perfromed a $400 Dyson. In reviewing what other customers had to say about the various products, I bought a $52 unit: 1. It arrived within 3 days. 2. Tho small (which means this is more for "spot" duty than large areas, the DirtDevil outperforms my $600 Dyson. 3. Unit is light and easy to carry. I would highly recommend buying from DirtDevil.

Weird site: I ordered from the site; a few days later an email confirmed the order with the instruction to check on the site for shipping (usually 3-5 days). After a week, not having heard anything from the site, I called. A computer voice indicated everyone was busy, leave a message or email--I did both. NO RESPONSE. The next day, I again called, leaving a message to bring me up to date or cancel the order; additionally, I emailed the same message. NO RESPONSE. On the third call and email, I cancelled the order, including a message about lousy customer service and thanks for nothing.

The day after the order was cancelled, the Company emailed saying it would ship the product anyway and that one cannot cancel. They clearly had read every email from me. I replied that the website warrants every call and email will receive a response--which they breached; and one can return merchandize. I refused delivery and have had to notify American Express to give me a refund. It seems the company attempts a game of forcing returns and then charging. STAY AWAY.

6th Ave Electronics

The company lives up to its billing that it will not be beaten by price. If you show another site with a price below 6th Ave's, they will beat the competition by 10%. People on the phone are very helpful and products are shipped immediately.
The only shortfall regarding the site is not one is there to help on Sundays.

I also have used the site for it auction items--fun to do but of course you have to know that you can't get a watch worth thousands for a hundred dollars.

This site has the best prices on the web for Gilette blades. I did not give it 5 stars since the shipping charges are exhorbent. Substantively, this makes the buy not as good as you think it will be; however, it still beats Amazon!

Maggiesdirect

Maggiesdirect

Maggie provides quality merchandize at reasonable prices, partiularly since there is no shipping charge. The only reason I gave 4 stars as opposed to 5 is if you call with a question, your voice mail is not returned; emails are responded to after 3 days which is annoying.

CarCoverUSA

CarCoverUSA

Site goes out of its way to explain car covers--kinds, prices, weights, cleaning. Prices are reasonable. Note, if you order a specially made car cover, it will take about 12 days before shipping tho the site says 7-10 days. If you are having trouble with what kind of a car cover, start here.

I ordered a remote with key for my Lexus--they sent a used device which meant the Dealer could not program the remote and the key was worthless. Tried calling--what a joke: A voice tells you that all operators are busy but not to fear, the call should not take more than 2 minutes. After 6 minutes, the computer voice says the party you are seeking has a full voicemail box try later--same routine on next call. Buyer beware! I have gone to American Express to challenge the charge. I have emailed twice noting the 30 return policy--NO RESPONSE
