  • Google Docs

All students will understand the pain of having to revise and complete work at home, and that was always really difficult for me because I didn't have Microsoft Word on my laptop. When Google Docs was recommended to me, I wasn't expecting it to be so similar to Word! It has all the features of Word, and honestly, I think it's better. Not only that, It's free! It's ideal for those who need to type a document but cannot afford to pay for Word.

I thought that it would be really hard to convert the file to a Microsoft Word file, but it's actually really easy! All you need to do is download the file from Google Drive and it will automatically convert it. I would absolutely recommend it and other Google apps.

  • Quizlet

When I was approaching exam time I could never find a useful way to revise. My teacher suggested using Quizlet and that day I opened up an account. It is very easy to use if you want to find a topic because there are many members creating revision tools. Unlike other forms of revision, Quizlet has fun ways to help you remember a topic and it's at a click of a button!

Like all websites, Quizlet does have some minor faults. Your only option when creating a set is to type a term and definition. This is useless if someone wants to revise something other then terms. Also, members can include general people, and these people are sometimes wrong and give false information! So I'd recommend using teacher's sets. Overall, a great revision tool, I'd recommend it!

  • Wattpad

I've always enjoyed reading but sometimes it's frustrating when having to buy books which are quite pricey. When I discovered Wattpad, I was pleasantly surprised! The layout is very easy to understand for all ages and beginning authors can release their own books. I've also seen authors who have begun on Wattpad and made it to actually publishing their novels which is amazing! And probably the best thing: it's free of charge! It is also great for kids because parents can set a parental option.

Wattpad has some faults, but that is mainly down to the members of the website who release inappropriate books and comment in a cruel manner. Many members are very rude to the authors and demand for updates which can sometimes lead to the author closing down their account. However, Wattpad is probably the best social website I have seen when snapping down on bad behaviour. I love it!

As an art student, I'm always looking for inspiration. My friend reccomended Pinterest and when I set up the account, I was very surprised. I wasn't initially expecting much, because most websites have spam and people who are only out to amuse themselves, not others. But it's great! When I'm sat at home, bored out of my head, all I have to do is type in 'projects' and it comes up with all sorts of things for me to do. It's also great if you have friends on Pinterest, because you can communicate and send each-other pins. It really lightens up my day!

The only minor problem I've experienced is that most pins are linked to websites which sometimes make my phone crash, but I think that's because my phone is an old version. I love Pinterest, GET IT!

  • Yahoo Answers

When I had a simple question, I'd type it into Google and many of times it led me to Yahoo Answers and I found the answers mostly helpful. From this, I decided to open a Yahoo Account. Within a day I was thoroughly disappointed with the website. I had an innocent question about my dog and I received a comment which quoted "idiot." This infuriated me and I decided to look into the person being so cruel. I discovered many times where they had been very judgmental despite not knowing the full story of the person's question. And this person was receiving many points by simply criticizing and hurting people. I think this is disgusting seeing as they had been like this on many occasions and no one had commented or even flagged them for their behaviour.

Yahoo Answers could improve their website by giving the asker authority to remove a cruel answer if necessary. Stupid questions which have also been posted for the asker's amusement should be checked before posting and then removed if need be.
