BEWARE! DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY OR THE LLCs THEY OPERATE UNDER: Raffa Group or R&A Modify.

When searching for a company to replace our sidewalk, R&A Modify came up on Angi. Raphael Saliba came to give us a quote for concrete work and said that while he was here, he could do a couple other projects we wanted done as well.

We told Raphael during the initial assessment not to dig with heavy equipment near our pool because of plumbing that runs underground. Since Raphael was not present and this was not communicated with the laborers, they dropped a Bobcat into the ground and immediately snapped three pool pipes. When one snapped it went through our pool screen making a hole.

A French drain is rock wrapped like a burrito by black mesh cloth underground. They showed up with barely any cloth and simply laid a piece down in the trench they dug, poured the rock on top, then covered it back up with the dirt – not properly wrapping the rock to create an actual drainage system as hired to do. When we communicated this with Raphael, he said we were wrong. They proceeded to finish the job incorrectly despite our requests and knowledge.

During the drain digging and yard leveling, they destroyed our entire yard. They put too much dirt on one side (burying a transformer box) while taking too much dirt from other areas leaving the concrete foundations of our fence posts exposed. Raphael then told us we would need to fix our fence, or it would fall over. A mistake on their part that left us with another added expense due to their negligence.

Their Bobcat cracked our basketball court, ripped a gutter off the side of our house, and cracked the sidewalk (city property) in front of our house.

When it came time for them to fix the driveway approach, they didn't use a saw to cut between the driveway and the street, chipping up the street. Then, they didn't line the driveway approach with the original driveway lines, essentially shortening the width of the approach to where it was all uneven.

When it came to what was supposed to be a travertine-style, beige, concrete-stamped walkway, the concrete pourers and finishers were unable to communicate due to a language barrier, Raphael was not there. As a result, the concrete was drying out of order, which meant the finishers couldn't get the color and stamps to line up or match. While they poured the concrete walkway, they did not cover our home with plastic, so we have concrete splatter on the stucco of our home, and then paint from where Raphael spray painted the wrong color on the final day. They've damaged our home.

Raphael was barely present to ensure quality and when we addressed him multiple times, all he did was get irate.

On the final day, January 14,2023, he attempted to fix the driveway approach. When we got home, he had spray painted the driveway approach grey, which we never asked for. He lied to us and said it would dry clear.

The new walkway was supposed to be beige to match our pool deck. Since they never mixed the color into the concrete, he spray-painted it light grey and told us in 4-5 months it would be a "travertine color" beige, which is also a lie.

We paid 50% up front per the invoice we received, 30% the day they poured concrete (they refused to pour without it), and the deal was 20% upon completion. On January 14,2023, Raphael came and claimed he was finished and demanded the final 20%.

When we said no because we now have damage to repair, Raphael became irate and began threatening to ruin the job further. He got a jack hammer out of his van in attempts to destroy our new walkway if we didn't pay him the rest. He then went and stomped in the wet concrete approach that he had just poured to destroy the work he did that day. When we asked for a copy of his liability insurance so we could get everything they damaged during the process fixed, he refused to supply it.

We are currently in the process of reporting this company and their other business licenses we found online to all online, local, State, and Federal business bureaus of investigation.

Tip for consumers:
check license and liability insurance before hiring anyone!

Products used:
concrete driveway repair, concrete walkway, backyard drainage

I am an online marketer and we have NEVER had so many problems getting a business verified, They literally REFUSED to lend me phone support for Basic Small Business Listings aka Free listings. This is why Google is always number one and Yahoo never will be - even if they joined with Bing. I can call Google and get my clients' businesses verified on-the-spot. Yahoo only wants you to give them money. I would have left no stars, but it required one.
