Stay away! Nextdoor seems to have a common thread of unqualified "owned" Leads dictating what can be discussed and removing whole threads that are not breaking any guidelines. The neighborhoods are so segmented you can't connect with your entire neighborhood so neighborhood issues cannot be addressed by the entire area. At Nextdoors whim, they can force popular interesting topics off to a sub group where only people who join can view, so the conversations are segregated so that the masses cannot see and the group members cannot reach the bigger audience. Ridiculous. They remove accounts for bogus reasons without warning for the most absurd reasons.

This company is like any other and will need to start using advertising so the site will be cluttered up with that eventually. They run the site with a communist dictator approach and refuse to be flexible even when hundreds of people are against their decisions.

Form your own neighborhood sites! The Nextdoor dictatorship and "owned" Leads that do what they say by removing popular topics is not "neighborly". The Leads are not interviewed and just happen to be in those roles with no way to vote them out. Based on complaints across the country many Leads abuse their role by picking on people they personally don't like or don't like the topics they post about. The ones who complain are rewarded instead of forcing them to scroll past topics they are not interested in. There are plenty of topics the next guy is not interested in and we don't tattle to the Leads which gets back to Corp, then decent people just trying to connect with their community are penalized, often by removing their accounts. Can you imagine if Facebook or Twitter did this?

The Internet can be a hostile environment where people disagree, have strong opinions and insult each other. Welcome to social media, but the Leads should not be allowed to remove comments or threads unless a serious threat has been made or defamation, etc. Nextdoor has their own rules and they do not follow standard models like Facebook or Twitter where grown ups can say what they want. If you want to be treated like a child, join Nextdoor.

A very popular topic in my neighborhood is animals, particularly ones rescued off the street that need homes. Nextdoor refuses to let "neighborly neighbors" post about them. They are no longer allowed to raise donations to help the animals, which has been a good thing until a few people complained. Wow. Hundreds of people want to talk about it and donate, and they won't allow it.
