Purchased a phone thru Verizon in January of this year. Did not opt for a contract with Verizon. Used their prepay service for 4 mos. Stopped using due to price gouging. After paying for the mo. Of April; my service was cut off without notifying me. I discovered I had no service while in the emergency room with my 90-yr-old Mother. The phone kept telling me my bill was paid thru 5/5/22 and if I wanted to use my phone post a payment of $5. Did not pay the $5, [where does it end?]. Got the basic "We only sell the service" from the Verizon Store. Had to make a couple phone calls to have service restored. After the prepaid month of April expired, I chose another carrier with which my Samsung Galaxy purchased thru Verizon is compatible. Verizon will not release the phone. They lock it down every time I put in a new sim card. I purchased the phone outright, do not have a contract with them, do not owe them any money. In fact I have proof they actually owe me $1 and change. Their policy states they lock down a phone for 2 mos from purchase date and after that; they never lock a phone. When I brought this to their attention, they state that just applied to Verizon. I reminded them this fact is stated no where in their policy. They then informed me the phone was stolen. I informed Verizon I had the invoice from the Verizon store where I purchased the phone. Filed complaint with FCC. Waste of time! FCC states all they do is try to get the parties talking. Thanks to Verizon denying me my right to my own property; I cannot download pics of invoice, etc.
