  • Lolita Show

10/12/17

I have heard horrible things about milanoo so I was shocked to find out they're associated. Honestly I had a great experience. Everything fit, and I'm plus sized so that's really hard to find. They had adorable accessories too. Shipping took just over a month from China, and they told me the pieces are made to order. They have pieces that can be custom fit as well. A good affordable Lolita site.

  • Mountain Warehouse

4/7/16

Purchased three full snowsuits, hats, scarves, and socks from the retail store. The snow pants were worn skiing ONCE and developed a HUGE tear in the rear and when he fell in the snow. A second pair of snow pants were also split across the back just from being put on. I had to return these online because we'd moved away from the city where the store was located. It took THREE MONTHS of e mailing back and forth before the following series of e mails:

"We confirm that we have received your address, a photo of the snow pants, and proof of purchase. Please take your items to the store for a refund."

My response: "I was returning them online because I moved. I need to return them online.

And theirs: "We confirm that you can return your items online. Please provide a photo of the item, proof of payment, and your full name and address"

I ended up making the THREE HOUR trip to our old town, just to be told by an employee that the manager wasn't in that day. Stayed in a hotel and was told by the manager that they can't accept returns MORE THAN 3 MONTHS after purchase! I first contacted them less than a week after purchase.

This really sucks because their coats are the best I have ever owned. This experience had really soured me on buying anything from them ever again

  • Old Navy

4/6/16

I love old navy for my kids and husband, thought I would love their plus sized line for myself but I hate it. The clothes are cut without curves in mind. I bought one pair of jeans that sagged in the crotch area (I'm 5'10") and slid off my bum. Never again.

The tops are too short if you're tall, and too boxy if you're short. But old navy does have fantastic basics like tank tops and tights.

Fast shipping, I have never waited more than 2 days for anything to come in.

Good quality: the kids outgrow their jeans before they wear out. T shirts have some fade issues but no more than I'd expect. Quality hasn't changed over the years, and the prices are basically unbeatable.

  • Walmart

4/6/16

Okay walmart still doesn't have an app but as of this year they have a Canadian website. Now I know why they waited so long. Rather than just offering shipping to Canadian addresses they've created a. Ca that appeals to customers from my region. Fast shipping and store pick up. The usual walmart quality so not great but about what you'd expect for the price.

Very small selection on clothes and toys but I'm sure that will change in the Christmas season. Selection is better at the store but I love the convenience of the site.

Their automatic re-order feature doesn't work, but whatever.

  • Victoria's Secret

4/6/16

I love that Victoria's secret changes their bra and panty fashions by season, I love their products! It's easy to find things on the website and they only e-mail to notify you of sales. Customer service is great for returns. I've only had to return something once, because I accidentally ordered the wrong size. No flaw on their part.

My only issue is that they carry bras up to size 38DD but do not carry pants up to size 18. A woman with a 38 inch ribcage is probably going to wear at least that size. I wish they'd cater to all sizes in their clothing section because although I am a "normal sized" woman I have agreed to boycott all stores that do not sell plus sizes. It's not fair that I can buy something that is made unavailable to another woman because of her size.

  • Groupon

4/6/16

Groupon itself is... sort of a good idea. BUT. It's one of those sites that hide behind the people posting on the site. Oh, it wasn't us, THEY did it. And worse than that, there are minimums with groupon so if a certain number of people don't buy something you don't get it. I also hated groupon when I worked for a company that used it. The company sold off our services at such a cheap price and the people using the groupon weren't really in the market for our service unless it was basically free. We were having to bump regulars in order to take them and the whole thing was just sort of an issue.

I did use groupon for a hotel stay recently and i was sort of upset when I realized that the $10 cheaper regular room rate included more "extras" than the groupon. So, buyer beware, always go with companies you already know to be reputable, and always read the fine print.

  • Petsmart

4/6/16

Hey, kids! Do you want to pay twice or even THREE TIMES the price for the same items you could find absolutely ANYWHERE else?

I didn't really think so. Do I even have to review petsmart? I'm pretty sure it's only their in store services and sheer size (which some patrons view as more selection) that keep them open. I go there for dog grooming, but pass on their food, litter, and anything else I could buy at another store for less than half the price.

What kills me is that they used to be a discount pet supply store. Like a walmart for pet stuff. What happened to you, petsmart?

  • Bed Bath & Beyond

4/6/16

Okay... I love bed bath and beyond. I love their shower curtains, I love their towels, and I love their... weird bird shaped... I don't even know whats. They have everything I love in a website: free shipping (although it is set really high at $99), and the ability to shop in CAD.

My only real complaint is that when Adam Sandler made "Click" they did not actually add... a Beyond Section. With Christopher Walken. Oh well. What can you do?

In all honesty though, I feel like BB&B changes their stock too often. I like being able to replace certain items in my home with the exact same item (so it feels like the kids never hit them with a basketball in the first place!). Also, it's really hard for potential customers to find items they're looking for after seeing them on pinterest.

When this happened to me with a ruffled shower curtain, I was sort of crushed!

  • Amazon

4/6/16

Ah amazon... where I can find that item I've been searching for and receive it... like 9 weeks later. I do really love amazon as a place to find items I can't get anywhere else, and I LOVE the new prime which includes FREE kindle books (yay!) but I just ordered pencil rolls for the kids and they took something like three months to come in. I already had to buy them new pencil cases.

Amazon needs to add sections for retailers who are able to deliver on time. Another pet peeve: having to open the product page to find out a. Whether the product ships to my area and b. What the shipping cost is. I feel like, with the number of products listed, those details should both be right there on the home page.

Gap
  • Gap

4/6/16

I couldn't find the dress I saw in store and loved, couldn't find any sizes, and I was never buying anything at the sale price because you had to get in early to be able to purchase anything at all. I did give the website a "good" rating, though, because they are one of the few online retailers to price in Canadian dollars if I am shopping from Canada. Thanks! It gets really confusing to conveert to USD all the time, and since Old Navy/Gap/ Banana Republic have free shipping, random duties and shipping don't get tacked on.

  • Apple

4/6/16

I love apple products but I thought when I had a prooblem with my phone that I would be waiting forever. Nope. I requested a callback in like 8 seconds, waited 5 minutes for someone to answer, told him my issue, and had a solution in five seconds. Not sure about shipping because this was a contact the company situation not a purchasing situation.

  • Forever21

4/6/16

Normally I can't say enough about how much I love love love f21. Amazing prices and really amazing sales. But I recently bought a pair of the black skinny jeans from their basics line for my daughter, and the SMELL on them is DISGUSTING. I've run into this problem a LOT lately with black jeans and I'm getting tired of it. Whatever dye they are using has issues.

The jeans came out of the bag smelling like cat spray and burnt rubber. I tried airing them out, repeatedly washing them (all they did was stink up the rest of the load of laundry) and nothing worked. I even hit them with borax and I could see them getting so washed that the DYE was coming out in my TUB and they STILL reeked.

Took them back to forever 21 and the girl said they can't take items back that have this much wear. WEAR? Girl, she never wore them ONCE? Do you think I want my daughter smelling like burnt rubber and cat pee? Nooo. I washed them like 20 times but wore? Nope.

So just a word of caution: do NOT buy black jeans from forever 21.

  • BabiesRUs

4/6/16

It is unusual for a website to give me a better experience than the store but this one did! Babies R Us has more variety online than in-store, they have great national brands, and whoever their purchaser is, that person is amazing because I can't think of one of their products I wouldn't use.

The stores tend to cater to the higher-priced items, but on the website I was able to find that $20 baby gate (in store the cheapest one was $60 and I only needed it for a dog!).

I really appreciated the selection between higher and lower priced items. I didn't want to spend my entire life's savings on a highchair or potty, but I knew my diaper bag would be with me until my youngest was at least six (not because of diapers, but because I'd need a large bag to haul around extra clothes snacks, and shoes).

I found the most beautiful diaper bag here that I actually still have in my closet today. I cut off the sewn-in diaper changing pad and it makes a beautiful purse.

  • The Children's Place

4/6/16

The children's place has gone from having nothing really happening online to having an app and a great site in the past while and I love them for it! They have the best sales in the world, which makes me super happy as a mom of four.

The site could have better photography but that only enhanced my experience since some of the tops I had thought were matte for my daughters actually had sparkles! This summer at least they've come out with a really fun, rainbow-ey style that fits my beach-bound kids better than the black and grey (*koff* tiny 50 year old librarian) clothes all the other stores are coming out with right now. These outfits are just so FUN!

I bought NINE OUTFITS at a 50% off sale for $125 CANADIAN DOLLARS! Some of the fabric is really thin and may not last long, but the pants are very good quality and last usually until my kids outgrow them. I mean at this price I could throw them directly in the garbage (I won't though!) after one wear and still get more value for my money than from any other store.

That and their bugs-bunny shipping (it practically got here before I ordered it, in one day not counting the weekend) makes them my favorite place to shop online.

  • OshKosh

4/6/16

I love the Oshkosh site and their stores. Shipping is fast, the clothes are high quality. I don't think their design has changed in a million years. Neither has the quality. When I put my old overalls, which my daughter now wears, up beside the new ones I bought for her, there are almost no differences.

  • Leap Frog

4/6/16

The leapfrog experience started for us in 2002 when I bought their plug and play gaming system. It was high in price but low in quality, no customer service and no help. Recently I've purchased two more of their products. Both were the leappad 2. The pink one worked just fine straight out of the box but the green one had a cracked screen probably from being mishandled at the warehouse. The crack was internal so we couldn't see it until somebody touched it with a stylus and it broke like ice, underneath the screen. They told me to go to a store to return it but the store wouldn't take it so I had to send photos and details to leappad at which point they sent me a shiping receipt to send it back to them. About three weeks after Christmas the new one showed up, but nobody was playing with it since his sister got one and he "didn't". We called the green one "the grinch" and sold it (having already bought him something else).

Customer service was terrible, rude, and acted like everything was my fault. I had to send back the unit so they could "determine" if I qualified fora refund, AND I'm pretty sure I know why it was so cruddy in the first place if they're just upcycling the parts from old sent-back units to create new ones!

They're sort of old fashioned anyway since there are so many apps for kids on the computer an diphone now.

  • Sears

4/6/16

Sears has really gone downhill. I used to love getting my catalogues in the mail and shopping for wardrobe basics and washing machines and stuff, but they are a terrible place to work and it shows. The employees scurry around the store, scared to death of being fired and sales are down BECAUSE they're abusive. I guess they don't treat their web/phone employees much better. New policies since the company was taken over include forcing you to pay by credit card for catalogue orders so say good bye to shipping a couple of sizes to the store so you can try them on (they used to advertise that as a feature of the catalogue!). Also say goodbye to the "if the kids wear it out before they outgrow it, you can return it" guarantee and basically everything about sears that ever made it good. The website is only slightly better than their awful stores. Save your money and shop somewhere else like sportchek or macys if you're just looking for Nike or Adidas stuff.

  • PetFinder

4/6/16

Petfinder connected me to a lot of people who were exploiting the site to find out information about me and where i lived. It was really awful. Please don't use it as this site is not unsafe by itself but it is full of unsafe people.

  • Gymboree

4/6/16

Gymboree is a HUGE SCAM and I will NEVER ORDER FROM THEIR WEBSITE AGAIN! I ordered $250 worth of Christmas gifts on Black Friday. Shipping was very cheap and through FedEx. Usually companies that ship with FedEx pre-pay any customs and duties but Gymboree TRANSFERS DUTIES TO THE CUSTOMER and DOUBLE CHARGES SHIPPING. ALL of the fees associated with your package will get charged AGAIN when you pick it up.

On $250 worth of clothes the fees to pick it up were $109! But it gets worse. I refused the shipment, no way I'm paying $350 for $250 of stuff, and Gymboree DID NOT REFUND MY MONEY.

They took back the merchandise AND ROBBED ME OF $250! This company is a bunch of disgusting lowlife THEIVES and I will NEVER EVER SHOP THERE AGAIN.

Since their CSR's suddenly stopped understanding and speaking English, I can only assume this company that used to have high quality products and representatives decided to stupidly outsource their call center and website order fulfillment. Canada customs told me the charges were so high because they're no longer shipping from California. I've only had duties and shipping this high when I ordered from an Asian country... my guess is they moved the whole operation to India or someplace and expected nobody to notice.

Disgusting, theiving, ILLEGAL behavior!

  • Expedia

4/6/16

I thought expedia was a great idea but logging on to the website I realized that the same prices are available directly through the hotels themselves. Often the price given on expedia is inaccurate to what is actually available at the hotel/airline.

I prefer to just join a specific chain's rewards program, stick to a chain I like, and soak up the loyalty rewards :)
