As a hardcore gamer and mmorpg lover, the following issue is of major concern and importance to me and my fellow and friends gamers. The issue originated from the game me and my friends play, Revelation Online, published by MY.COM. My friends and I were aiming to get the last of the Top 5 Clear achievement of the most difficult endgame dungeon. However, one of the Volunteering MY.COM Moderators was also trying to get the same achievement for 3 of his friends. Keep in mind he already had Server First Clear with his own character and along with 6 other players from the group that was now trying to get 5th clear too. Also he was leaking information to his raiding group about future updates and when they will happen despite him signing a None Disclosure Agreement with MY.COM. This of course was a significant advantage compared to other normal players, since Auction House prices and the general game economy changes, making them able to prepare, take advantage of price fluctuations, and keep ahead of everyone easier. But going back to the issue at hand, our Top 5 Clear, this SAME MY.COM moderator started to look for ways and reasons to ban members of our group in order to slow down or stop our progress through the dungeon. (we were made aware of this).
We went on to have 10 hours of raiding / day trying our best to keep ahead of the other parties progress. Eventually real life issues of 2 of our members made us face the a grim reality. We had very little time left (maybe 2 days) to clear or the other party would of taken it from us and we would have lost all our hard work. So, under this pressure, our members had to get other friends to play for them. After a whole weekend of trying and wiping and changing strategies we finally managed to clear! Last team through the Top 5 door on Sunday! However our happiness was cut short when Monday came along and we found 3 of our members banned because of the Mod. It seems we only got lucky and cleared because it was a Sunday and there were no GMs to process the reports.
The 3 players were banned permanently for account sharing. However, in fact, only 2 of them did account share. All 3 of them submitted tickets. First player got the ban reduced to 5 days. The 2nd player got unbanned instantly. However the 3rd player is still permanently banned. The 3rd player was the only player that DID NOT share his account. He was playing on his own character throughout the whole dungeon since day 1. Now comes the actual issue we have with MY.COM:
Why are these bans different? Why is someone with no prior problems now permanently banned? Let me give you a bit more information:
Player 1, permanently banned reduced to 5 days: Top-up about 10 000 EU. Lives in EU.
Player 2, permanently banned, unbanned on the spot: Top up a lot, friends with a Community manager, lives in EU
Player 3, permanently banned, still permanently banned: Doesn't top-up, has to play the game free, Lives in the Middle East.
Do you see where this is going? Why is MY.COM discriminating players? We don't know if it's because of his financial situation or his country of origin, however players should be given the same treatment and chances! Equal rights and opportunities! Also, why do they still have at least one corrupt moderator still being a moderator and creating disadvantages for their player base? Again, equal rights and opportunities!
We tried to talk to them! All our tickets were closed with no clear answer! Player 3 was sent a ticket response saying that if he will send any ticket about his ban THEY WILL END SUPPORT FOR HIS ACCOUNT!
We don't know how to help our friend right now, but we know we want to at least raise awareness about MY.COM and maybe other companies that treat their player base in the same way! We don't think such favoritism and discrimination should have any place in the world in general, let alone in mmorpg's that bring all sorts of unlikely groups of friends together from all over the world to share a few hours of fun!
