In the crowded world of grocery stores, Publix stands out as an exceptional and consistent store. We use the Cumming Ga stores on Castleberry and the Free Home store on highway 20. They are always clean, well stocked, and a pleasant place to shop. Kroger is always super crowded with a more rough crowd, and other stores are either dark and in need of refreshing, or push their own brands too much (Ingles). My only complaint is their recent installation of self service lines while restricting regular check out to one open lane. If you pay me I might do it, but I'll go somewhere else before I do their job. The worse for this is Walmart. Tons of workers standing around chit chatting while customers wait in one long line or do it yourself. Please Publix keep your primary method of checkout full service.

  • FedEx

FedEx used to be the leader in expedited delivery. They had the tracking tools, ground network and an air express backbone to lead the market. No more!

I must say that I was one of the original employees back in 1973. We worked hard to build the company with our energy, ideas and performance. But the company today lacks the concern for doing the right thing for customers, and is full of arrogant, don't give-a-dam people. Companies that act this way are in decline, and their service reflect it.

Drivers never press a doorbell, sign packages without our consent, and throw them at the door. Calling customer service is an experience in patience, which by the time they get on the line is gone.

There are better ways to ship your packages with speed and confidence at a lower cost (UPS, USPS Priority Mail). Don't support them. They will only change when they feel the pain of loosing customers and volume.

  • Fox Nation

I love Fox News and chose to subscribe to Fox Nation. I paid for 2 years in advance. Unfortunately I found the content to be terrible. It was weak, short, and poorly done. There were occasional good comments from the personalities, but not worth the bother and cost. It just wasn't up to my expectations of Fox News.

Tonight went online to cancel, and found they cancelled as of the end of the subscription period, March 2023. I chatted with an agent, and was informed refunds are never issued. I tried to press harder for a refund, and was refused.

Save your time and money. It isn't worth it, and you will not get your money back if you cancel. I support Fox News, but this is a black mark on their reputation with me.

Tip for consumers:
If I had known refunds are not issued, I would have (a) likely not subscribed, (b) if I did it would have only been for 1 month, not the 2 year price. Decide if the content is for you (it wasn't my cup of tea), but by all means do not subscribe for an extended period until you decide you like it. I lost $99 in 1 month.

  • Lowe's

In December 2014 we purchased all new KitchenAid appliances (cooktop, microwave, dishwasher and double ovens) from Lowe's. They were delivered and installed in February 2014. Six months later we received a letter from KitchenAid offering to sell us an extension to our warranty that they said started in December 2014. We were surprised since they weren't installed until February. KitchenAid bases the warranty date based on the order date, so we complained to the sales guy. He and the store manager couldn't get it changed so they resolved the problem by providing us a no charge 5 year Lowe's extended warranty on all of our new appliances. Wow we thought.

A year later we decided to do a good cleaning on the top oven using an oven cleaner. We even removed the cover in the back of the oven and cleaned the fan blades since they were dirty too. After everything was done, the fan vibrated like crazy. We took it off, made sure it was cleaned on both sides, but it continued to vibrate. We called Lowe's for service. Within 5 days a technician was onsite, checked it out and said we needed a new fan. Two weeks later, with no call from them, we contacted the service company working on behalf of Lowe's. They said they hadn't been ordered the parts, and didn't know why. A MONTH LATER, and after MANY CALLS AND PROMISES OF ESCALATION by Lowe's, still no fan. The provider said they couldn't get the parts. I hung up, went online to KitchenAid, found the new fan motor and blade, ordered it, and had it in my house in 2 days for $103. I called Lowe's and told them I had the parts. It wasn't for another MONTH LONGER that I got a call from the service company. They said they 'had the part' and would be out to fix it. The technician called the next day and said since it is a wall mounted oven I would have to remove it and he could help me, or they would cancel and I would have to wait until they could get another tech to come help him. Are you kidding? So we said come on, we will help YOU take it out. When he arrived, we had it sitting on the floor already removed (I know how to do it). He installed the new fan, and it worked perfectly. Note: He didn't have the new fan motor - just the fan blades - so we gave him our part to use. Then, when he was done, he said goodbye and walked away with the oven sitting on the floor! I dislike appliance repairmen. They seem to be where dishonest used car salesmen to for their next job. They are always scheming to overcharge or do less work. I wouldn't pay Lowe's for this kind of terrible service. They should be embarrassed. They have many people on the phone ready to help, but their own system doesn't work. Either they have the wrong subcontractor companies doing the work, don't pay them enough or quickly enough, or no one takes full ownership of the problem except the customer. A simple fan replacement should not take months on a $7,000 purchase. The problem started with KitchenAid in the first place, and in spite of Lowe's trying to do the right thing, their underlying extended warranty service doesn't work. I wish I knew the answer!

  • Kudzu

Kudzu was great in the beginning (2005-2009), but over time they became arrogant. So it is no surprise that Cox decided to close the business. They really were a good company in the beginning, but in their zeal to become profitable - something we all strive for - they lost sight of their customers. I spent thousands of valuable dollars every month to drive business to our website through Kudzu. But they sold the column in the far right on my page to Google - who sold it to my competitors. Imagine my stunned disbelief when I found my competitor's ad on my own kudzu page! I demanded they stop immediately or we would leave. After having been one of their original customers in our category, the leading company based on reviews, and having spent more than $120,000 they admitted they had been doing it for several years and I never said anything before - and they would continue to do it. I immediately cancelled and left. That is arrogant, and it is no surprise their policies caught up with them.
