Crafts, kits, and Curios for the creatively inclined. I like odd shops like this. I have yet to order anything from this website because the items are a bit on the expensive side, but some of the items I like are the potato chip necklace (told you it was an odd shop), crayon rings, and pretty much anything in the sites "Library" section. Cute little shoppe with cute little odds and ends.

  • Synonym-finder

8/13/11

Your writing can be boring if you keep repeating the same words. This is where synonym-finder comes in. All you do is type in the original word you were planning to use, and the site will come up with a list of synonyms for that word that are just, well... better! Perfect for writing stories, poems, etc. Really like this website. It's simple but definitely something I can and have used.

  • Add-ons for Firefox

8/13/11

This is great! So many different add-ons you can download absolutely free of charge! You can choose to donate money to the add on's creator, though if you want. I browsed through some of the add-ons and couldn't believe how many they have. I already downloaded about ten of them for my browser. The font, color, text add on, the firefox theme add on (now my browser is pink and black. Love it!), the Stumble Upon toolbar which comes in VERY handy and I use it everyday, the Pearltrees toolbar, YourVersion toolbar, and a few more. Firefox is hands down the best browser out there. It makes Internet Explorer look like the scum of the browser earth. One minor thing though is that a lot of the add on's I want to download cannot be downloaded to my version of Firefox (because it is the newest version, I think?). But other than that, love it.

This site sucks. They can't even do a simple thing like e mail you your password. When you initially sign up, you don't make your own password. THEY need to e mail you one. Yet here it is, six days after I signed up and NUMEROUS e mails inquiring about my password, and I still have yet to receive a response. I even clicked the button that says "Resend password". Yet that was useless as well. Will not be using this site. Not that I really can anyway without a PASSWORD.

  • Idiomdictionary

Really like this website. Pretty self explanatory. Over 5,000 idioms can be found here. There is a search bar so you can type in any idiom you are looking for. Once you find it, it gives you the meaning of the idiom and an example sentence, which, let's face it, most of the time make the words more easy to understand than the actual meaning. I like this site too because you can either do a search or browse the idioms by letter.

Haven't used it much yet, but this site seems like a really fun idea. Basically it's a collaborative story writing website where users create bits of story based on the previous bit they just read. Then it passes onto the next person who then adds onto it and so on, until an entire story is written. From what I see, it looks like the bits of story really are just that - bits. I saw several different users listed, each with a sentence or two of their own, then connected onto the next person who writes a sentence or 2 and so on. Anyway, looks like a fun little website but haven't really tried it out yet.

I wanted to pick a unique site for my first review EVER (on here, lol), so I picked "How It Is", which is a project created by UK's Miroslaw Balka. Though I really like the site, it is difficult to explain. Basically, it's a type of art project Balka created, It takes you to this black, interactive, borderline scary "cave", and you navigate through it with the mouse. There are many strange things to come upon. Things that again, I cannot explain. It's just something you have to see for yourself. I gave it four stars because it is engaging and kept me interested for a while. I actually didn't finish going through the whole thing in one sitting because it was nighttime and it was starting to freak me out a bit lol. The site insists that you wear headphones, and I figured out why! Strange, intriguing, different, interactive, unexplainable art. Somewhat like a game, only... not. Some parts are somewhat disturbing in a sense, but that's just my opinion. Go see for yourself.

Uh, yeah... what he said. Lol. Really the last review (and first) for this site was right on the money! Took what I was gonna say right outta my mouth so yeah lol like I said, what he said.

I really like "mood" websites like this. Believe it or not, I have about a handful of other websites I've found similar to this. But I think this is the only one where video is involved too as well as audio.

It's really neat, but as Chris said, it's unpredictable. Expect the unexpected!

Besides, who doesn't like a good surprise to cheer them up?... Or bring them down... Or whatever feeling they want...

  • Malevole

For this, you actually have to go to:
http://www.malevole.com/mv/misc/killerquiz/... and when you get there, you play a game where it shows you a photo and you have to guess whether the person in the photo is a programming language inventor or a serial killer... Yes, weird. But oddly interesting...

PS. They also have one about space cannibals... Haven't tried it yet. Don't ask...

This site is cool for making easy webcam stop motion animations (otherwise known as gif's). Very easy to use. Just point and click once... twice... as many times as you want (I think it stops around 20). Then when you're done with the whole thing, watch it (obviously) and choose if you want to share it to twitter or facebook, and if you want it put in the piterwilson-toys.com stop motion gallery for all to see.

The only thing I don't like is that the "Recent" section of the website only has 16 of the most recent animations that you can look at. It may sound like a lot, but it's not. They're all very small, and on one screen. I wanna see more!

I don't think there's a way to save the animations you make either. Oh well, still a good time passer.

  • Unique Vintage

I saved this site because I REALLY like their jewelry. What an awesome assortment of different style jewelry they have! Their clothing is pretty expensive (for me, anyway), but their jewelry ranges from inexpensive to expensive so I can find a lot of affordable odds and ends to add to my ever growing jewelry collection.

  • This Day in Music

8/14/11

The name of the site says it all. Wanna know what happened today (or tomorrow, or whatever day you go on) in music? Wanna know what famous musicians and band members, singers, etc were born on this day? Head on over to this site and you will see a list of interesting music-related things that happened on that particular day, plus birthdays for music related people.

For instance, on the day I am writing this review, some of the things that happened according to the site are 1993, Freddie Mercury had his first solo UK No. 1 single with 'Living On My Own'.; 2001, A pizza-stained piece of paper signed by three of the four Beatles sold for $48,000 (£17,441) to an anonymous collector at an auction in Melbourne; and 2008, Lita Roza died in Liverpool, England. Had the 1953 No. 1 hit with her version on the of Patti Page hit 'How Much Is That Doggie In The Window. (I shortened these for review writing purposes - each one has more info).

Also, some birthdays for today (Aug 14) are Sarah Brightman, Slim Dunlap, and Maddy Prior.

Interesting site to check out if you're bored.

Wtf? They don't even have the kind of cigarettes I smoke. You know, REGULAR Marlboro Menthols... why wouldn't they carry something so common? Ah well, whatever.

  • GirlPROPS

8/10/11

I love this jewelry/accessory site! Apparently, so do the editors of several magazines because their items are frequently featured in some of the most popular magazines in the US! I always explain Girlprops like this: Their jewelry is not CHEAP, it's INEXPENSIVE. There's a huge difference! I have never been let down by Girlprops! They have THE cutest jewelry items for THE best prices. Literally. From bangles to vintage jewelry, zodiac themed jewelry to cocktail rings, you will not be able to stop adding items to your bag when you shop at this site. And you won't feel bad because everything is so inexpensive! They have quirky items like a banana necklace, cigarette earrings, and lamb rings, just to name a few. I love their 1980's vintage items. Sometimes I even buy items off here to incorporate the pieces into my jewelry projects. For instance, last month I bought the multi record charms earrings and necklace ($5.99 & $6.99). Alltogether it was 12 brightly colored assorted neon plastic record charms, and I gladly added them to my jewelry making stash to use in future projects. Don't get me wrong, I buy TONS of jewelry on here to actually wear, too. But once in a while I find something great that I know I can use for one of my projects. Also I must note that their customer service is EXCELLENT. One time my order was missing a ring I had ordered (only happened once... honest, human mistake), and I e mailed them telling them it was not in there but that I obviously had no way to prove it wasn't in there. I received a response back the next DAY saying that they know I wouldn't lie about a $2.00 Gumball Ring and they would be happy to send me the ring right away. I received it promptly. Love this site. Definitely one of my favorites.

I think what I liked about this site was that rather than trying to figure out my own diagnosis...
