Unabashedly liberal, I like mother jones as they are. However sometimes they are a bit to manipulative with their facebook posts, doing the standard "news jacking" and writing about trending topics. Nonetheless, I like to keep them in my repertoire, along with some other sites from across the aisle.
I work at a machining shop and we've had a ThomasNet account for years. It's been really big for us, we get at least a few calls a week. I'm surprised to see a lot of these negative reviews, I tend to doubt there validity to be honest, especially when there are no specifics. We are listed in all of the services we offer, and we tend to get some business from them pretty consistently. I would definitely recommend it.
This site is alright. It's a little too macho ridiculous for me. I followed them on Facebook to see what they had to offer and so far its been a resounding "meh". It's not terrible, I've not had particular bad experiences, but its also not been too remarkable for me to necessarily recommend to someone.
I will concede that its probably not my taste, and may be very compelling to other guys. Nonetheless i think the 3 star rating is fair.
