On #44 in New Hartford, CT, this is a large place with many dealers. Eclectic selection from small items to large furniture. Staff are friendly and helpful. They don't do that uncomfortable "following" you around but are in reach if you need something. I visit every time I'm in the area and nearly always find something to take home. It helps that they are open 7 days.

Paid $105.47 a year ago for Kantha quilts from this seller. Never received order. Two months of correspondence with "Java Devi" at LaressaGifts yielded series of lame excuses (e.g., it's a FedEx problem, a festival holiday, mother in hospital, etc.). No package or refund.

Trying to file complaint on ETSY site, both then and now, led to automatic electronic responses, round robins, and dead ends. It also directed me to PayPal, which responded with irrelevant robot statements.

In fairness, I have been satisfied with most ETSY purchases. However, I will not be using the site again, having discovered this lack of customer service in case of fraud.

From the airport I reserved a pay-in-advance (the only way Hotwire operates) automobile to pick up at my destination. When my flight was canceled only a short time later, I immediately phoned Hotwire. They kept my money but refused to use it toward another car or to refund, or to make good in any way. Furthermore, when the $1100. 00 appeared on my American Express card, Customer Service refused to help, stating that the "merchant" would not let them open a dispute case against them. (Who's in charge here?) Beware of this and Priceline, with whom the customer service rep said Hotwire was associated. I can only hope that someone decides to file a class action suit against allowing companies to get away with such unethical practices.

Tip for consumers:
When the online site which makes you pay in full ahead of time says no returns (or whatever their wording) they mean they charge your account immediately and under no circumstances - even if beyond your control, such as flight cancellations - will you be able to even use that credit toward another reservation. Your money is lost, and credit card companies will not even open a case against Hotwire.

I finally did receive a refund on credit card so was not scammed altogether & added one star. Three star total because of wrong items sent & curt phone service.
