I have been using Dropbox since there was a Dropbox. Great product. Works simply, easily and I often even forget I have it -- it is like it part of my operating system. Use it on Mac and PC... works like a dream! I flirted with SugarSync which was the most unstable of the alternatives to Dropbox; OneDrive was the slowest; Google Drive the least stable; Box Sync the 2nd most proprietary product (there are some file types it just won't sync, and it is the only Sync service that has that caveat), and iCloud, the most proprietary and oddly interfaced of the alternatives listed.

I have had Dropbox, and I will continue to use it, praise it, and recommend it to everyone and anyone!

Tip for consumers:
As Coke is over Pepsi, and as the Big Mac reigns over the Whopper, so, too, Dropbox knocks the heck out its competitors. If you want stable, dependable and simple, Dropbox rocks (hey, I'm a poet and I didn't know it).

Much like a rerun of "Love American Style," AOL just hasn't aged well. Its Mac software no longer works on the Yosemite OS for Mac (though AOL says it is a priority to fix it, it has now been a "priority" since October 2014), and its Windows software is hoary with age. Not that I use it much at all, but every once and a while I think to myself, "I wonder what AOL is like these days" and I will take a whirl at its website, play around with its Desktop software, and tinker in its AOL Mail. It's like time has stood still. It kind of works, sort of, but not really well. I like the idea of a walled-garden proprietary desktop program -- but it has to do something, or provide some benefit that the web itself, unwalled, does not provide. AOL fails in this regard.

Much like Hollywood has done on some film properties (like Star Trek and Spiderman), AOL needs to be "re-imagined." I'm sure I'll look at AOL again in the next few months, but I expect nothing pleasing about it, except, a dose of nostalgia.

Note that Spokeo, unlike most reputable sites doesn't show a pricing list. Try to find out the pricing before signing up -- its nearly impossible, unless you start using the service. And then as you go along the hidden upgrades pop up and each one adds to your overall monthly bill. There is something dark and scam-ish about Spokeo. I used it for two years, but as they kept limiting features (and then charging for features that used to be part of the premium package), I decided it was not worth it. I'm glad I left Spokeo, I don't want to be associated with a site that seems to be operated by grifters.

Tip for consumers:
Don't use it. Run! Run far, and run fast, but get away from this huckster-run site.

Spokeo I. – Spokeo Rep

Dear James,
We're sorry you feel that way. When a person chooses to sign up for Spokeo's services, they are presented with the exact price of the given product on our payment page. It also clearly states in our Terms of Use statement, which must be agreed to before the purchase is finalized, exactly how much you will be charged, and how often you will be charged. This is also shown in the confirmation message which is sent to the email address used to sign up immediately after the purchase is finalized. We sincerely apologize if this was unclear in any way. Please feel free to contact us at 1-888-906-0850 should you have any further questions or concerns.
Thank you,
