My husband and I travel frequently locally and internationally, for work and for fun. Since he owns his business, he shops for the best routes and fares on Kayak. Kayak is the best place to narrow down the choices to 2 or 3 airlines by routes, by dates. Of course we check our frequent flyer airline first, but that is often not the best value fare overall or not the fastest routes.
Been with them for 18 years. Every single year, when we compare, we are reminded it was the very best choice we ever made. We like to have "some" say in our investments, not leave it 100% to a stranger, and we like to have someone to "hold our hand", at a very competitive fee. Vanguard does all that for us. Over time, we move more and more of our investments to VGD. Excellent.
Pricey but an excellent read to stay informed and understand important economic trends. I like their analysis, seems to be "middle of the road", less biases then other "true blue" or "red" publications.
Surprisingly useful. I have many years of work experience, and am new to this state. Glassdoor replaces what I would have found out from my network in my home town. Company's rating, interviews, salary, all the critically important stuff. I would not think of accepting a job offer without checking out Glassdoor. Of course, one must "read through the lines", since there will be some disgruntled employees, and some "glowing write-ups" not inline with most people's assessment. But overall, it very good.
Tip for consumers:
If a company has few reviews, take the info with a grain of salt, specially those reviews with 5 stars or one star. Otherwise, it's quite good.
Old Navy offers pretty good value and cute looking clothes for casuals. Great for my teens too.
I love their clothes selection. Yes, often it does not fit me ( curvy petite) or they are so cheap that I cannot buy, but I always leave the store with one or two things, and know exactly what else to buy to be "in" the fashion of the hour. Great experience, I am hooked...
In our recent purchase, Zillow +Redfin+our buying agent were all necessary to get a great house. It was not the "lowest price" house, but the right school district+walkable location+ house with great bones+ right size. Mind you, Zillow is just "one" tool, however what else is available to buyers? The buyer's agent, while very experienced and on our side, is not perfect either. For us, having many reference points, such as our agent, city tax assessment, recent sales, Zillow's data were all necessary to make a better choice.
Redfin showed new listing between 12 and 24 hours before Zillow. It was crucial for us as we were racing against other buyers in a very tight market last year. Both sites are complimentary, Zillow tends to have more complete data, Redfin is faster, but with missing info at times.
Got a great phone for $100, very happy with data plan ( 2Gs) and coverage. No complaints.
I use it more then Amazon, albeit for different purchases. Love Walmart's health care products -Equate-, items for the home, grocery, kids, electronics. I avoid going to their stores, online buying is a great alternative. The only issue is that the online products description is so incomplete, I leave more stuff in the cart then what I buy. This is because I could not tell whether what I was picked was what I needed, could not check the size, the color, the material or fabric, the dimensions, whatever! Please improve product descriptions and pictures!
New to the city, many colleagues recommended Citi, for ATM access, account choices and what not. Did not work out at all for us. Too many fees, too many rules, un-competitive savings rate. Closed the account after one year.:-((

Since Kayak offers discounts from other websites, I appreciate it. The fact that they don't...
