I telephoned and booked a removal for this company 3 months in advance and they agreed to take ALL my details and requirements over the phone and give me a quote for the job via telephone. I was happy with what was quoted to move from a 2 bedroom house and booked them as they came across as very friendly. I called a week before to confirm all was still OK which they confirmed I then called the day before and all was still well that was until the day of the move!
The property I was moving from was rented and needed to be vacated on the actual move date. 2 men (one being the owner) arrived late with a lorry and then decided they wanted double the cost that was agreed in advance to move my furniture, despite having every opportunity to visit the property to justify their quote.
Obviously I was not happy to pay double what was already agreed and could not believe it when they left me in stranded after 30 minutes of talking amongst themselves away from my house and then driving off leaving me and my furniture packed and ready to go nowhere!
They made me feel like they "had me over a barrel" as they knew I had to move on this date. However I was not going to give in to their bully tactics and when I did not agree to pay more for the job agreed they left.
What a stressful day being a woman I had to try and move everything myself and hire a large van, it took me all day and was back breaking... I've never felt so exhausted or so let down in all my life and it just goes to show the calibre and character of this company and the guy that runs it which is in fact a "one man band" with help. I called the number on their card and the call was never picked up or returned despite leaving several voicemails!
Despite my efforts to try and find another removal company there was nothing available at such short notice. Their booklet states "Big enough to cope - small enough to care" - they didn't give a damn!
