  • eBay

5/11/18

As a buyer I find a good range of choices for the things I want, with very competitive prices. I've never had a problem with any dealer on Ebay. However, I've looked into the nuts and bolts involved as a seller, and in my opinion, there's isn't as much value in that. Real high commissions off the top. I would feel better selling products on Amazon than here.

  • CarRentals.com

5/11/18

I shop multiple sites when I rent a car. Of them, Carrentals has a good selection, like most travel sites, but I find better pricing elsewhere at places such as Hotwire. I'll look at these guys anyway just to make sure that I've found the best deal, but invariably I do better on other car rental sites.

  • Dice.com

5/11/18

Good job site for IT related jobs. I wish that they provided more details on their posted jobs with fewer clicks, but they do have a pretty good handle on open positions, fulltime and contract out there. Coupled with a site like Monster or similar, it is a good information resource.

  • Food & Wine

5/11/18

So much great information on all sorts of food, wines, for both connoisseurs and people who just enjoy different foods. Good videos on cooking tips, holiday recipes, wine recommendations both affordable and highest end. I share their articles with many of my friends.

  • Tasting Table

5/11/18

This site has an eclectic array of articles dealing with gourmet restaurants around the world, insights by world renown chefs, useful tips and recommendations about travel and places to eat, recipes, etc. You don't have to be a diehard foodie to be interested in this site. Also entertaining reading and videos.

  • AvasFlowers

5/10/18

I ordered some flowers to go to the other side of the country. They used a florist who was going out of business, judging from lack or response to emails or phone calls. A lot of other people were reviewing the same experience as I had. I quit using them. Many more dependable florists online.

  • FoxNews

5/10/18

No news found here. Just whiny schlock. A total waste of cable bandwidth. Built on fomenting fear and anger, nothing more.

  • Comcast

5/10/18

Like everyone else says in the reviews, awful customer service, overpriced. They have righteously earned their industry reputation as about the worst cust service in the world. I am grateful to have moved out of Comcast territory.

  • iPower

5/10/18

I had hosted with these guys, both personal and business. Tech support is pretty much incompetent. I'd get wrong answers all the time; if I called back about 4 times to different people I'd eventually get the right answer. Hosting prices are ok, but conversations over the phone with both support and sales mgmt staff reflect total customer apathy. I went elsewhere.

  • Startlogic

5/10/18

I have a technology background so I've been able to get around and through the website problems I've have with startlogic. Multiple times over the years i've discovered my static web pages to be hacked in and replaced with pointer pages to Chinese and eastern European scam sites, and it's not a matter of password based incursion. The compromises are in the infrastructure outside the website; that's why they're able to get in. Pricing is really about the only reason to host with these guys. If you have the time to monitor your sites with them, it's not too much of a headache. Forget customer support - their tier one support is about a 6th grade level of proficiency.

  • US Postal Service

5/10/18

I only use USPS when I absolutely have to. Tracking is useless and late, with only 3 exceptions in multiple states, customer service and the understanding of the concept is nonexistent, and in my home area delivery is highly unreliable. More than once it's taken my business envelope mail to get across town about 5 days, no exaggeration. My go-to's are ups and fedex.

  • Blue Cross/Blue Shield

5/10/18

When BCBS was non-profit, before states transformed their Blues into public for profit insurance companies, they were much better as a company administering health insurance. Since your Anthems,. Etc have taken Blues for profit, covered medical care has plummeted, deductibles have spiked, rx formularies have really shrunk, because the patient or member is no longer the true Customer. The stockholders are. Last thing an insurance co wants to do in either health or property-casualty is pay out money that's due to people per contract. Going for profit dramatically exacerbates this mentality.

  • Sitejabber

My go-to for website-company reviews. I can always find enough credible reviews that give me factual information, positive or negative, and it's helped me greatly in my choice of so many businesses.

  • Facebook

5/4/18

As a seasoned IT veteran, I've always known that FB would try to avoid all accountability in data security and integrity, maintaining that they're just the platform, which allows anyone and everyone to hijack the data that FB tracks which is pretty much everything. If they knew when I burped, they'd track that too. They deserve all the flak they're getting now finally, plus a lot more. It absolutely should be subject to data security and privacy regulation. Banks have less than this degree of tracking of you, and they're subject to far more accountability. Either the complete leadership-board needs to be gutted and replaced or they should close and make way for a social media platform that has integrity.

  • Lotto.pch

5/4/18

When I tried this, I got a popup from a game saying that I'd won $1000. I didn't receive anything. I saved a screen shot of it and complained, showing them the screenshot. They alleged that it was a 'system glitch.' I allege that they're not honest. In my opinion could all be like a shell game.

  • Whole Foods Market

4/30/18

My friends call this place Whole Paycheck and for good reason. They seem to have a pretty good level of quality with things that I've bought there, but honestly, there's not enough value to justify the prices. I can get the same dry goods and supplements from Amazon for less.

  • Orbitz

4/30/18

I used Orbitz for a number of years. It was ok only. Prices were competitive, but I'd always wondered whether they were one of those websites who would display certain airlines first before everyone else or not include very many results from certain airlines because they didn't have any sort of backroom agreement. I never had a cancellation in my plans so can't validate all of these poor reviews. However, once I found Kayak, which seems pretty equal in showing the best fares, I abandoned Orbitz.

  • Gmail

4/30/18

It's great that gmail integrates with my cell phone and all that, but really as an email interface it's kind of bulky. Folder and msg-contact handling interface is much more intuitive in Yahoo. I keep my gmail account only because I get one with my phone.

  • Best Buy

4/25/18

It's pretty easy to get around the website and find out details/specs behind the product. However, more often than not I can find some better pricing at Amazon. Product quality is fine though; I've gotten my last laptop there and it's lasted a very long time.

  • Edmunds.com

4/24/18

I don't and don't plan to go thru Edmunds to buy my car. I'll do my research on Edmunds on quality and pricing, then go armed with the info to the local dealer. For research, I don't know of any better place to read about the good, bad, and ugly, without having to pay for it like Consumer Reports. I've not had any website technical or latency issues in the past, so I can't weigh in about problems like that that others have experienced. Could be Internet provider, clogs in the internet core, etc, something other than their website servers.
