  • Tom's Food Markets

7/25/18

These stores are ok for your mom and pop type grocery, but as such, their scope is accordingly pretty limited in selection and the pricing is significantly higher than your bigger stores like Meijer and Kroger. They also roll up their sidewalks earlier than the major supermarkets. I only use them as a convenience store, when I don't want to drive to Meijer, Target or Walmart. Staff is courteous.

  • JetsPizza

7/25/18

I carryout from Jet's Pizza every summer. Their toppings are generous, their crusts are perfect, and the prices are really good. You get much more for your money than any of the major chains and much better taste too. Turnaround time for their pizza's is never long at all.

  • Flap Jack Shack

7/25/18

I eat here during the summer every year. Great tasting breakfasts served all day as well as lunch/dinner items, looks like a coffeehouse out of the 70's. Prompt and friendly service, clean, good drinks. I come here to have breakfast for dinner too. The stuffed hash browns are

  • Meijer

7/16/18

I've only shopped at the Indianapolis and Traverse City MI stores, but my experience has always been very positive. Very well stocked blend of groceries and non-groc items, courteous staff and very good pricing. I'd say the level of pricing is comparable to Walmart, but the employees here care much more and are willing to help vs avoid customers like you always see at Walmart.

  • Total Wine & More

6/11/18

From the Las Vegas and Henderson NV stores, I've been completely satisfied with the level of customer service, prices, and huge selection, and that applies to stores in each city. Staff have always been patient and helpful in recommending the right wines for me. Prices are probably the lowest in town, most comprehensive in selection. All of my friends who buy there say the same thing as I.

  • TryMusicLessons.com

6/9/18

Trymusiclessons is one of a large no of 'middleman' websites operated by one entity, who also tries to be a middleman site for many other areas. That alone is a red flag, just one of them. In general, they really have no clue about marketing. To wit, look at the title of the site - it has no real appeal for the visitor to go in and look further, much less request some sort of music lessons. They allow teachers to submit their profiles for free, but in order to get any leads, if there are any, you have to buy their 'premium' membership. Over 4 yrs in my geographic area, nobody has stepped up and invested their $100-plus every 6 months. Once when they offered a discount for premium, I wrote, asking if they'd provide metrics on no of times the site's visited, no. Of people who've submitted requests for lessons, no of teachers who have brought on students as a direct result. Some girl said that 'they'd get back to me about that', which was in 2014. Unless they simply don't bother to measure their metrics at all, perhaps they just have a really really really low bandwidth to the internet? I don't know. They did send free mbrs some 'leads' that they rec'd, and one was clearly bogus, as I know the teaching space here really well. If you have time to burn, then it probably won't hurt to post your info as a teacher for free, but you won't get anything from it. I'd expect this business model from 9th graders, maybe 8th.

I've been involved in several market research surveys conducted by 20/20 in the past. I've found them to be reputable, the compensation for time is very good, they are well-organized and the survey topics are interesting and relevant.

  • Dollar Rent-A-Car

5/31/18

I've used a wide range of mainstream car rentals, and find that Dollar most of the time has the best pricing. In places like Las Vegas the wait line can take a long time; fortunately I have Dollar Express so I can go to the outside kiosk and get my rental there. Never had a problem with their cars. Cust svc has been satisfactory.

  • Federal Student Aid

5/31/18

I recall having to complete my FAFSA form on paper, before the process was fully automated. They've done a good job of automating the application process on the website. Security protocols are good, and you can get your expected family contribution amount right away.

  • Starbucks

5/30/18

Many of these reviews deal with the politics of a big co. Moving in and driving small coffeehouses out of business. That may be, but in the American economy model, that's what for-profit entities, large or small, do; gain as much market share that they can. Doesn't matter what type of business it is.

That said, I find the customer service at Starbucks to be first-rate, and applaud them for their recent diversity training initiative. As a minority, I've never been treated as anything but a valued customer. Their places are clean and well-maintained. Staff are always courteous and quick. I had some trouble with their wifi once in recent months, and the staff was too busy to go troubleshoot it. I commented on it in feedback to the Starbucks website as I had to get in to refresh my card, and less than 24 hours later, received a message from their nat'l customer svc center apologizing for the outage, and promising that they'd both alert the regional mgr to the event, and have their tech support resolve the issue. It was resolved when I came in the next day.

  • Fort Wayne Children's Zoo

5/26/18

The Ft Wayne Children's Zoo is a preeminent children's zoo in the US certainly, maybe N. America. The site has an excellent educational portal, and the in-person visits are an excellent educational experience as well. The zoo itself has grown and flourished in the 25 yrs that I've followed it. I took my children there when they were young, and to this day it's an experience that they've never forgotten. The staff is friendly and courteous, the grounds well kept. I highly recommend it for families.

  • Honda Dealership Henderson NV

5/26/18

I've only used the parts dept at this Honda dealer, but my experiences have always been very positive. They very patiently answer all of my questions, even printing off parts/engine diagrams so my mechanic can verify things, and have never pushed me to leave or tried to upsell me on anything. Honda parts are expensive, but my buying experience here is always a positive one.

  • Meineke Car Care Center

5/26/18

Meineke lets me get my own parts (read: much cheaper without the big markup) and they'll install it for me. Yet, I think that their labor rates now are just unreasonably high. I used them for about 10 yrs up until a yr ago. I found another mechanic who does equal quality work and charges much less than I had to pay meineke.

  • Hay House

5/26/18

Hay House is a respected and leading publisher in self improvement and metaphysical/healing books. Their books, online classes, and various interviews are informative and thought-provoking. They recently had an offer where one could get a copy of class sessions, etc. from their summit conference. I had a little problem related to the imminent purchase of their sessions through a special offer. I spoke with Rosa about my problem, and after she understood my concerns she came back with a completely satisfactory resolution. I originally was concerned that I'd have to jump through hoops to resolve my problem, but not so. It's a rare treat when the quality of a company's customer service matches the quality of their product.

  • Fastweb

5/14/18

As a parent I've used Fastweb to explore various kinds of scholarships that my children could be eligible for. I found a very broad collection of scholarship resources and a lot of information behind the requirements for them. The only concern I'd have for the website is that many scholarships that are given out by colleges that one is already considered for when applying for one at that institution, are there which makes for some unnecessary bulking up of the list of scholarships. It makes it harder to dig through all of the other scholarships that one would apply for, especially organizations outside of academia. It takes a long time to search through because of the number of resources that they list, but it's still time well spent.

  • Teleflora

5/13/18

I thought at first that all of these one star ratings were a result of just the unhappy customers writing a review and that no satisfied customers had left their feedback. Now I know that the reason there are nearly all 1-star ratings is because Teleflora is HORRIBLE! I got the same Mother's Day bouquet for someone in CA, and someone in eastern WA. The one in CA I ordered the deluxe size but it was WAY SMALLER AND SCRAWNIER than the mid-size I ordered for WA. I read that the mbr florists HATE Teleflora because they extort such a high commission of of them, so they'll almost always use 1) Old Flowers - they're not making anything so why use better flowers? And 2) Even if they use the Old Flowers, they'll use the LEAST AMOUNT POSSIBLE, evidenced by photos of both of these orders as well as my past experience. Pro Tip - AVOID TELEFLORA AND SPEND THE EXTRA $ TO GO DIRECTLY TO A REPUTABLE FLORIST. Teleflora is the worst floral network on the planet.

I'd heard that FTD was bad, so I decided to try Teleflora for sending a Mother's Day bouquet. Silly me; I neglected to check Sitejabber for reviews before I ordered. Lesson learned.

I ordered the 'Premium" bouquet, and for these flowers to arrive on Friday May 11, in the afternoon. Although florists are delivering on Mothers day also, I thought I should ask for Friday arrival just to be on the safe side. Friday comes and goes. NO DELIVERY. I call Saturday morning the 12th (I have a recording of my call), and speak to an 'Ellen" in their LA call center. She looked it up, and said very vaguely that something went wrong and they would reorder, and the delivery would be on MONDAY, AFTER MOTHER'S DAY! She also said they'd give me a 50% off coupon towards my next purchase. I said no way, you will deliver it TODAY, and she put me back on hold, then came back on and said that she called the florist, REFUSING ABSOLUTELY to tell me who the florist was, and said that they would deliver it on Sunday, then corrected herself after I raised the question. 3 times more when she repeated herself she said that it would be delivered Sunday, then I had to correct her, and she said Saturday. She didn't mention giving me the 50% off coupon anymore, and I had to get off the phone, so I didn't pursue that. Not that I'll ever use them.

The flowers did arrive on Saturday, BUT they looked really droopy around the sides. I had to apologize for how they looked. I considered having Teleflora replace the bouquet, something I've never asked of a florist, but I know that Jesus will come before they would deliver the replacement so I didn't bother.

HERE'S MY IMPRESSION OF HOW FLORISTS HANDLE TELEFLORA:
Teleflora offers a lot of discount bouquet offers. They're just the middleman; the Florist themselves have to eat the discount. As such, Florists probably can't stand Teleflora, and make up those bouquets with the dying/stale flowers, saving the good stock to use for customers who have directly called that florist. If you look at all these reviews, you'll see the pattern that everyone gets junk.

MY ADVICE: 1) Don't touch Teleflora with a 10 ft pole. 2) Call an area florist directly (after seeing their reviews) and place your order; that way you have an actual NAME of the florist as Teleflora REFUSES to tell you which florist they used (could be a vocational school class for all you know), and you have a prompt recourse with someone who can actually do something in case you have a problem. It's extra work to look for an area florist online, but it's not that much extra work and it's worth it.

WORST FLORAL COMPANY/MIDDLEMAN IN THE WORLD.

Don't.

I have the free pkg and it helps to expand my network internationally. However I wouldn't use the premium version; for what it offers, there just isn't sufficient value in it.

  • Liberty Park Florist & Greenhouse

5/11/18

I and my family have used Liberty Park Florist for many many years, both happy and sad occasions. They are a family owned business that has become a generational tradition with families in Spokane. Always sensitive to our needs, superior customer service, superior value, and absolutely stunning flower arrangements. We've purchased from their greenhouse as well. Whenever I need to send flowers to anyone in Spokane, my go-to florist is Liberty Park.

  • Flowers By Rachelle

5/11/18

I've used Flowers By Rachelle a few times, from happy occasions to funerals. They exceeded all expectations in each instance, creating really beautiful and generous bouquets of flowers. Rachelle is very knowledgeable, and understanding of my needs and situations. They deliver to surrounding towns when florists in those towns are closed. Prices of arrangements and delivery costs are great. I will continue to order my flowers from her.

  • Cox Communications

5/11/18

Service is adequate, though constant cable internet blips and disruptions. Pricing not so good, but at least they made an effort to look at their pricing schedule and customize something competitive enough to retain my business. Tech support for the few times i called them were ok. Nothing really exceeds expectations.
