On July 10 2021 I was in Sunriver Oregon attempting to get a room in Madras Oregon for that night. Madras is less than 100 miles from Sunriver. Using my phone, I contacted HotelPlanner.com and got an actual person who tried several places that had no rooms available. Eventually she said she found a room in Richmond, so I said to book it, as I thought it must be a neighborhood of Madras. When I looked at the reservation on my phone in order to put the address into my GPS I discovered it was at a motel in Richmond, Indiana! I called the motel but they said it was a non-refundable reservation and I would have to talk to the booking company about a refund. It took me a long time and several calls, but I finally got someone at HotelPlanner who said I would get a refund.
I then got an email (attached) that said I would get a refund and should allow 10 days to see it on my credit card account. I never got the refund. I called several times asking about it until finally they quit answering my calls. I tried to dispute the charge with my credit card company (Visa), but they denied it because the charge was to the motel, not MotelPlanner, and the motel had a legitimate case of non-refundable booking.
Greetings,
Thank you for contacting us and we apologize for any inconvenience that this caused you. Per your inquiry, I was able to contact the hotel to confirmed that the reservation is cancelled and agreed to waive the penalty for the cancellation of the booking and as such on our end a refund in full will be processed for your reservation and you can expect the funds to be allocated back to your account in the next 3 to 10 business days.
Regards,
HotelPlanner
