Etude House

Etude House

Etudehouse.com sells Korean beauty products under the Etude House brand. The site is easy to navigate and has a good variety of items. The forms of payment accepted by the site are PayPal and credit cards. When making purchases you can create an account or checkout as a guest (at the time this review was written). Items are well packaged and come in a delivery box with the brand logo. This is the Etude House site so you get items directly from the source.

I made a purchase from this site and had no issues. I am happy with my purchase and that things went smoothly.

This is a site where you can post a question and anyone with a Yahoo! Answers account can answer it. There are supposedly rules and guidelines set up, but the rules seem to only be applied to some questions and answers, but not others. There is no consistency whatsoever in how the rules are enforced.

This site seems to be THE place of trolls and attention seekers. Trolls are those who just want to push people's buttons. They will post questions that outright insult people, invoke violence, or invoke hate. This is supposed to be against the rules. The attentions seekers will "ask" a question only to argue with the answers that don't agree with them, do not state what they want to hear, or do not validate them in some way. This creates a ridiculous back and forth environment on the part of the attention seeking "asker." It's supposed to be: ask a question, get an answer, not a chat room. There is a no chatting rule, but maybe Yahoo! didn't notice that that was one of their rules when they put in a comment feature where any user can write a comment below each answer.

You used to be able to block the trolls and attention seekers so that you don't have to deal with their "questions" or supposed answers. But then, Yahoo! Answers added a feature where you can post as anonymous. Anonymous users can't and aren't blocked. So a troll or attention seeker can work around being blocked by posting as anonymous. Here's a sarcastic "good job Yahoo."

There are times when you click on a question that does follow the rules and seems pretty harmless and you get a "this question has been deleted or is under review" message. Sometimes the person will re-post and mention that their question got deleted so they are posting it again. When this happens it means their question was reported. Some users blatantly insult members in their answers and others respond in the comment section saying that they have reported the answer, but the answer remains. So it seems like every day is opposite day on Yahoo! Answers when it comes to the rules.

Both trolls and attention seekers are free and clear to clutter up Yahoo! Answers with their "questions" while legitimate questions and answers are removed for violating the "rules." A few months ago there used to be a feedback site, but I don't know if it's still there. If it is and you go on the feedback site you can see where people post about this and discuss this. But Yahoo! never did anything. What few changes they made seemed to benefit the trolls, attention seekers and spammers and make things worse for legitimate users.

I usually buy Neutrogena items from a retail store, but decided to order online through their site one time because the store had run out of what I wanted. I ordered some cosmetics and face wash from this site. The site is easy to navigate through and also contains customer reviews for their products. I had no problems with my order. Everything came in when it was supposed to and in good shape.

The site is well organized. I've ordered a couple of times from this site in the past. Both times, the items were carefully packaged and arrived within the estimated time frame. I didn't have any problems with my orders.

I was looking for specific workout DVD's on another site, but that one didn't have them. Then I did an online search using the title of the discs and found totalfitnessdvds.com. They have so many titles to choose from and had all the ones I was looking for at reasonable prices. I placed my order and received it a lot more quickly than I thought I would. I am happy to say I had no issues whatsoever. Most recently I visited the site during a sale and placed another order. Once I again I received my items faster than expected and there were no issues whatsoever. This is a great site.

PartSelect.com sells parts for different types and makes of appliances. There is a space to type in your model number and it will show the parts available for it. You can also keep scrolling down and there is a list of "symptoms" your appliance has with the parts needed to fix it displayed next to it. There are also video tutorials showing how to do repairs yourself.

The types of payments accepted are most major credit cards and PayPal.

I was having trouble with a clothes dryer. Since it's about 20 years old I thought it would have to be replaced altogether. Luckily I found this site and realized I could fix it myself. I had no problems placing my order and received the items promptly. I plan on using this site again the next time an appliance starts doing weird things.

I had originally rated this site five stars based on a previous experience. I have lowered my rating due to what happened with my most recent order. I placed an order for four different items. On the site all the items that I purchased were listed as "usually ships within 7-14 days." I don't mind waiting so I placed my order. Later I get an e-mail stating that one of the items was out of stock and won't be in stock for a while so that specific item was cancelled. O.k., a little annoying, but I was willing to let it go until something else happened.

A couple of weeks after the date I placed the order I get an e-mail stating that my order has shipped. The next day I get another e-mail stating that one of the items is defective, will not be shipped out, and that a refund is being processed. How could an item have shipped and then be retroactively inspected? Apparently I am wrong about what "shipped" means. Either way, half my order has been cancelled by them.

They sent me a a $5 coupon via e-mail as "goodwill," but I have to spend a minimum of $50 to be able to use it. I have decided to save $50 instead and not use the coupon. I appreciate the fact that they took the time to make sure the items were in good shape, but I'm annoyed at the issues with my order. Like I said, I understand that things happen, but I don't like being given inaccurate information like, "your order has shipped" when it has not or that an item is available when it's not. So I take it that whatever is left of my order is still sitting somewhere.

This is my third time buying from Yesstyle.com. My previous two experiences were good so I'm a little disappointed this time around. I ordered four items and two are not coming in and have been cancelled. I liked their site because they had styles/things I had been unable to find anywhere else. But if items are cancelled, then they're not available on Yesstyle either so it loses that "uniqueness" factor in my view.

Below is my original review for the first time I purchased items from Yesstyle.com. I left it to try to be fair in my overall review and just and added my new comments above it.
This has been my first order from Yesstyle.com. The items I ordered look just like in the pictures on the websites and are just as described. The quality is pretty good. My order came within the time frame they said it would and was well packaged. I had no problems with the checkout or ordering process. The size charts were accurate. I didn't have a need to contact customer support so I can't comment on that. Overall I'm pretty happy and plan on purchasing from them again.

Yahoo

Yahoo sites are poorly organized. The homepage shows news articles, but the articles are not categorized in any way so if you are looking for a specific news subject (e.g. business, technology, etc.) you have to hunt for it. I used to read articles on Yahoo, but now it's actually easier and faster to do a web engine search by typing in the type of news you're looking for. In the past I could simply click on a category on the Yahoo homepage, but not so anymore.

Yahoo mail is tedious. They have improved the spam filters some. I don't get as much obvious spam as before. The bad side is that now some spam is designated as e-mails from Yahoo "sponsors" that you cannot delete. There was an option to stop receiving messages from sponsors a few months ago which I went through the steps to opt out, but that option was just for show since I still get them. These sponsor spams show up at the top of the list of e-mails. Also it takes forever for spam filters that you create to start working. I made a filter for these pharmacy spams and set it up for them to go to the trash folder. I kept getting them in my inbox for about a month after creating the filter.

Another thing I experienced was getting automatically signed up for Yahoo mail alerts about stories. They tracked the type of articles I read on the homepage and sent me tons of these alert messages. I went through the option of opting out and it said it would take more than a full week to change my preferences and to stop receiving them. Funny, it took them about a few days to start sending them to me, but when I want them to stop it takes a lot longer.

Yahoo Flickr is hard to go through. Yes, the format looks very pretty, but again, it's hard to use.

While Yahoo looks pretty, I want something that's also user friendly. I don't want to have to click on a bunch of items to figure out what to do. Years ago it had a very user friendly format, but this has changed. I feel like I did when I first got windows 8: lots of pretty colors, but that's it.

AllPosters

AllPosters

AllPosters.com has a huge variety of posters to choose from ranging from art reprints to movie posters. They also offer framing and many choices of frames and mat colors. You can make purchases by credit card or through PayPal.

I recently ordered an art reprint and had it framed and matted through their site. The process was fairly simple. Standard ground shipping was about $10 for my framed artwork (according to the box I received it was 6 lbs. in weight). I received a tracking number for shipping and an estimated delivery date range. My package came within the first day of that range. When I opened the package I found that everything was as shown in the previews on the website. I was relieved because I was afraid that it would look completely different.

I was very satisfied with my purchase and plan on buying more items from AllPosters.com in the future.

Edgebee.com is an online gaming site where you can choose from five games to play. You can play for free or purchase tokens for added features. It is a fun site.

I would give it 5 stars, but from my experience customer support is terrible. I have had a technical issue and have been trying to contact support, but my e-mails go unanswered. I have finally given up after a few months (I stopped keeping track after the third month) of e-mailing them and my issue still remains unresolved.

I have also tried posting on the forums to get another issue resolved, but the response has been that it's my fault. I tried what they suggested because unlike them, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and am still having the same issue. Oh well, I give up completely. They don't care to help.

I used to purchase tokens, but have stopped because based on my experiences with their customer support I do not trust them to resolve any issues that may arise involving my money. If you ever have to contact support for whatever reason, then good luck to you.

I have been using netflix to stream movies and I love it. The picture quality is surprisingly good for internet delivery and the variety is decent. They have a better selection through their DVD mail service (which I don't subscribe to, but know because when I do searches sometimes it says a movie is only available on DVD). It's about $9 per month and there are movies, t.v. shows, made for t.v. movies, documentaries, and t.v. specials available to watch. They have a good selection of foreign films. For the price charged you get a good value.

PeopleVerified

PeopleVerified

Peopleverified.com is a site where you can purchase contact information and background checks. They offer an option to subscribe for a membership to which there is a monthly charge or to do a one time payment for one report. They claim to allow a free search, but you have to pay to see the results. The more detail you want the higher the price you have to pay. For a one time report they charge a little over $25 for general information, but you have to pay more for details.

Flickr.com is a site where you can post your photos. They give you the option of making your content private or public. The site also has groups that you can join and you can post photos onto the group page or start your own group. I find the search for photos and groups to be a bit of a pain because it doesn't offer enough options to narrow down results. Overall, this is a great site to share and view pictures.

iTunes offers a wide variety of digital downloads for music, movies, television shows, and music videos. You need to download the iTunes software in order to make purchases and once you have iTunes, it is easy to use. Make sure your iTunes software is always up to date to avoid having problems downloading your items.

Amazon.com is a website that sells a wide variety of items. I have been shopping on this site for about 10 years and have always received everything on time and in good condition. I have also downloaded music and games. The prices are reasonable and the customer service is o.k. (I've only had to use it once and that was years ago so it may have improved since then). I definitely recommend this site.

April 2013 update: The format of the site has changed since I first wrote a review for this site last year. No prices are shown up front for any of the so called psychics. Be careful of any site that does not give prices up front. This is very fishy to me. Because of this I have changed my rating from four stars to two.

Shoes.com

Shoes.com

7/6/10

Shoes.com is an online store selling a wide variety of shoes. I have used this site only once so far. The transaction was secure and I received a shipment from them within a couple of days. Unfortunately, one shoe was the size I ordered and the other shoe was a different size (I am confused as to why this happened). I called up customer service and the representative was very kind and apologized. I shipped the shoes back. I was very pleased with how easy it was to return the item.
I rate them as "cool" (3/4). I would have given them a heart (4/4), but even though I had to ship the shoes back because of an error on their end, they did not ship me the corrected order. I was told that I would have to place the order again. The site loses a point for this because I feel that since it was their error they should have simply shipped me the correct shoe. I was, however, happy with the manner in which the customer service representative handled my call and I received a refund.
