I've never been more nervous about a purchase IN MY LIFE!
I'm NOT a professional, I'm OCD, ADHD and literally measured all 17 windows 4xs just to make sure that I actually had the correct measurements.
Happy to say that after my adjustments to the measurements after round 2 nothing else had to be changed. But the freak that I am had to check that 62.50 was really 62.50 and not some figment of my imagination.
I had an amazing young man by the name of Gerald who helped me and was EXTREMELY patient with me throughout the process.
Now things weren't perfect but I actually wasn't expecting perfection. I just wanted to make sure that I got exactly what I was promised. Low cost, easy to install shutters that looked great and were indeed they exact same thing every single Shutter company in San Diego was selling but at least 60-70% cheaper.
I'm happy to say that is exactly what I received. The shutters were made a little earlier than expected and the delivery was pretty much what you expect from an out sourced company. Not much English and didn't want to hear what I had to say, only where I wanted my pallet. The invoice was not at all what I was used to seeing and signing for. It didn't label what products I was purchasing, how many of each and easily labeled so we could match the invoice to the product- NOT!
It was a simple this is your product- 1 pallet, 42 pieces, weight 480# and that was pretty much it.
So since I was signing for a pallet of weight and no particular items, just the count and weight. I counted the boxes and matched the invoice, it was the correct number so I figured I'm good to go, and I was.
All the boxes were mislabeled but the pieces were all individually wrapped and each labeled EXACTLY what it was, what side it was for and what window. So I was thrilled at least I had every single Z-frame individually wrapped and wrapped and packed well, that went to its assigned window. The doors were all the same thing, box says one thing but sure enough after opening up everything and placing it right under the window it was going on, low and behold it was all exactly what I ordered. It was also is PERFECT condition, not a scratch on it and the color was beautiful and consistent throughout they entire order.
Installation for me was a little bit of a hassle but you have to remember that I have an incredibly difficult time hanging a painting correctly. Or what my mind is correct because I'm a freaking perfectionist and I have a hard time moving on unless it's perfect.
Once I got past the fact it's not going to be PERFECT and I'm going to have to add some caulking in the cracks when I'm finished, it went pretty quick. All the holes are predrilled and it's really like putting together Legos that need to be straight with a touch of physics since every single window bows and isn't straight. Some screws were in all the way while others ha to be backed out a bit to keep the square, square and not have it warp in and pull away from the L shape in the corner. Some small parts are totally unavoidable and would of happened if I'd ordered from Avalon Shutters at a ridiculous 75% higher price than these Levalor Plantation Shutters. Seriously it was that much more going through Home Depot than here.
Bottom line if you are confident in yourself and can measurement correctly, operate an electric drill and level, your good to go! SERIOUSLY, GOOD TO GO!
My wife is Soooooooo STOKED I can't even begin to express to you how happy she is. We were able to do a little over half our house in the 1st shot because of American Blinds and their 2 yr no interest plan.
A HUGE THANK YOU TO MY FRIEND Gerald who took HOURS in the phone and gave me so much advice when he still had no idea if I was calling back. It was that gut level honesty that let me go look at exactly the same brand shutters that are sold under many different names, at a near by store, that was the seal on the deal. He didn't have to tell me that but he did and I'm glad he did because I saw just how much these places are jacking up prices for measurements and installation, it's a JOKE! SERIOUSLY MADE ME THINK ABOUT OPENING UP A SHUTTER STORE LOL!

I'm extremely grateful and really really happy with the service, product and help along the way.
