I don't know about the other ALTs but ZEC to ETH crypto rate is terrible. I lost $25 on $100 exchange.

In this case most likely the difference is explained by high network fee in ETH network. Please note that the network fee is already included in the estimation shown to the customer before they proceed with the exchange.
